A Plan For Historic Preservation Charlestown, Massachusetts 1968
5 A Plan For Historic Preservation Charlestown, Massachusetts 1968
Charlestown, Massachusetts Charlestown Preservation Society Inc. 1968 Very Good Soft Cover Good-plus
I very much like old urban planning/historical preservation items, so of course had to have this one. It was likely printed for the exclusive use of the Charlestown Preservation Society, so there aren't too many kicking around. The booklet is clean and oversized at 9"x11" and spiral bound to lie flat. The plastic comb is completely intact. It's illustrated throughout with maps and black and white photographs. A very interesting retrospective of the town.

13 Cincinnati In Bronze (With Slipcase, 1959)
Child Health Association 1959 First Edition Stated Hard cover Very Good Condition Very Good Conditon
Crisp clean gift book still in its handsome slipcase. I've seen this book before, but never in a slipcase before now. The book is crisp and clean as new with no names or writing. The dustjacket has a few little nicks, but overall is quite nice. The photo on front is the Tyler Davidson Fountain, a gift to the city by Henry Probasco in memory of his brother-in-law, Tyler Davidson. It was dedicated in 1871. The rest of the book likewise celebrates all things commenorated in bronze in the Queen City. Book measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and looks great in slipcase which shows no fault. Without question this is the most unusual and delightful commemoration of a city's Bicentennial. It's clever, fun, and historic -- and all in full color in a large format. The booklet measures 9-3/4" tall by 14" across. Cuyahoga Falls Sesquicentennial Cloth Banner and Sesquicentennial Program (Ohio, 1962)
16 Cuyahoga Falls Sesquicentennial Cloth Banner and Sesquicentennial Program (Ohio, 1962)
Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio City of Cuyahoga Falls soft cover Very good
This is such a fun find. I've had the sesquicentennial book a couple times, but I've never seen the cloth banner. Yet here they are together from the same previous owner. The banner is quite large at 27"x36" and is printed on one side. There is a small section at the lower right corner where the thread seems a little dirty on the hem, but otherwise it's crisp and clean. The program shows a little wear, but not much, and has no names or writing. Inside there is a laid-in certificate with no name filled in for the Cuyahoga Falls Area Jubilee Belles. The program measures 8-1/2"x11" and is filled with historical photographs in black and white, plus historical info and info about the town's celebration. 90 pages. Sells as a set and ships for $2 in the U.S..

Description of the Rules for the Management of the Springfield Rifle Carbine and Army Revolvers Calibre .45
17 Description of the Rules for the Management of the Springfield Rifle Carbine and Army Revolvers Calibre .45
Unknown circa 1960 Reprint soft cover Very good
Though there is no reprint publisher named and the date shows as 1874, this booklet is far too new for this to be true. I think this is the Ray Riling reproduction from 1960. I had one once and, as I recall, it looked like this. The booklet was originally published in 1874 by the National Armory of Springfield, Mass. The pages are constructed from quality coated paper, including the fold-out diagram at the back. The booklet measures 6"x9-1/2" and has 51 illustrated pages. There is much information here. Very clean with sunning to spine only. former owner's large pictorial bookplate is on the back of the front cover.

East London Record, 1992 No. 15
20 East London Record, 1992 No. 15
London East London History Society 1992 No. 15 Card cover Fine condition
I bought a handful of these little magazines a week ago and am amazed at how interesting they are. Any issue is an Anglophile's delight. This issue offers the following articles: A Childhood in Bow; Frederick Rogers Bookbinder and Journalist; The Ingles of Limehouse; Satan, Sufragettes and Salvation; The Bethnal Green Tube Disaster; and They Carried the Banner. The latter is about education in poverty stricken neighborhoods. People were binding together to improve things, but chose a name which might be a little .... It was The King Edward Ragged School Youths' Institute and Christian Mission. Magazine measures 5-3/4" and 8-1/4" with 48 pages. Illustrated with black and white photographs with no defects.
