1 Prairie Edge Creators of Plains Indian Art, Artifacts and Jewelry Catalog (circa 1970's)
Rapid City, South Dakota Prairie Edge circa 1970's Soft cover Very good condition
I have never before see this catalog, but it certainly is attractive, especially if you like Native American art of many kinds. Among the items, all of which are pictured in full color with descriptions are shields, clothing, jewelry, pipes, bags and purses, lances, axes, hair pipe chokers, drums and animal skulls, among others. The catalog is not dated, but it appears to be from the 70's. It measures 7-1/2" x 9" and has 47 pages.

2 Stories To Tell; A List of Stories With Annotations 1965
Baltimore, Maryland Enoch Pratt Free Library 1965 Fifth edition Soft cover Very Good
Except for a small bit on toning around the edges of the white cover, this book is crisp and clean with no spine crease. If you're a performance storyteller, or just want to entertain the kids, this little booklet is very handy, as it has isolated stories that work well when told as well as read. Categories include the following kinds of stories: animal; Bible; Christmas; Easter; Fun and Nonsense; Ghost and Witch; Giant, Demon and Devil; Hero and Indian; Magic and Enchantment; Princess; Seasonal and Thanksgiving. Each selection states title, author, date, publisher or anthology and a short synopsis. Includes time-honored favorites such as Wanda Gag, Maurice Sendak, Beatrix Potter, and many more. It's a small catalog measuring just 6" x 6-1/2" with 28 pages printed on quality glossy paper. Each page shows a large black and white photo of an item with description and there is also an unused envelope laid-in provided by the company.

Weatherbird Presents Super Circus Great Animal Show (circa 1949-56), Giles, Ken
7 Giles, Ken Weatherbird Presents Super Circus Great Animal Show (circa 1949-56)
U.S.A. Weatherbird Shoes Circa 1949-56 soft cover Fine condition
This is an astonishing find based on Super Circus, one of the earliest TV shows for children. It was sponsored by Weatherbird Shoes and began in Chicago in 1949 and ended in New York in 1956. I was born in 1951 and we had TV by'52, but I have no memory of this show. All I remember is Ding-Dong School with Arlene Francis! This booklet is in amazing condition -- crisp and clean as new with just a small bit of wear to a small section of top back edge. It's a pop-out book of animals with instructions on how to assemble them. There are five pages with all pieces intact. Measures 10" x 10-1/2" and is truly rare.

Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Magazine Firestone 50th Anniversary, Hope, Bob; Hutton, Betty; Allyson, June
10 Hope, Bob; Hutton, Betty; Allyson, June Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Magazine Firestone 50th Anniversary
U.S.A. Hope, Bob; Hutton, Betty; Allyson, June 1950 1950 Edition Soft Cover Very Good 8 James Montgomery Flagg
Beautiful copy of the 1950 Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Magazine, made extra-special with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company of Akron, Ohio. Firestone, along with Goodrich and Goodyear, was at the time of publication one of the largest employers in the city, then known as "the rubber capital of the world." Aside from lots of great circus photos and a Firestone ad on the back cover, there's also a two page color spread inside advertising Firestone, as well as a black and white ad on the reverse side of rear cover touting Fomex padding and its use for fall mats and seats at the circus. This issue also offers the complete 1950 program act-by-act, plus articles by and about celebrities of the day. Cecil B. De Mille wrote a piece about why the circus would be the setting for his next epic film; Bob Smith of "Howdy Doody" fame wrote about Howdy Doody joining the Ringling Circus; and Bob Hope penned a personal piece about why he loved circus clowns. Betty Hutton also tells about the thrill of playing Annie Oakley and June Allyson writes about what it meant to be an animal trainer. There's also a great story about the circus cookhouse at the Hotel Ringling and the huge tent that served as its dining hall. Magazine is clean and nice with just a flat crease to lower front corner. Measures 8-1/2" x 11" ansd has 36 pages. Clean and tightly bound. Only fault is creasing to lower front corner over cover, but lies flat.

11 Mary Ann; Carey, Kathleen Mary Ann's Ghost Chat 2000
North Royalton, Ohio MAKAS Enterprises 2000 soft cover Very good
This is an oddity I've never seen before. While I don't seek out the paranormal, I do feel compelled to leaf through it when I see it. I guess we all wonder about wonders. Anyway it's a compendium of stories about the author's experiences as northeastern Ohio's paranormal investigator. She SIGNED it on the edge of her photo which appears on the reverse side of the front cover. There are photos with each story -- some ghostly. Articles include: Let's Talk About Ghosts; Paranormal Investigations with Trapper Jack -- Eight Years With Live Radio; Growing Up With Ghosts; The Next Generation -- What Makes A Paranormal Investigator; Animal Ghosts; Domestic Ghosts; The Row House -- Haunted Apartments; and Ghosts and Mental Illness. Booklet measures 8-1/2"x11" and is clean as a whistle inside and out. Only fault is some tiny staple holes from the author's business card which fell off and is laid-in inside. Easy enough to staple it back if desired. 60 pages.
