A Merry Christmas Angel Mary Baby Jesus Vintage Postcard Metallic Silver
1 A Merry Christmas Angel Mary Baby Jesus Vintage Postcard Metallic Silver
Unknown Unknown Fine
This is a beautiful embossed card with metallic silver details all over it which don't show up in the picture. They're literally everywhere! The card has a divided back and is partially addressed, but was never sent. It appears to be from the early 1900's. The recipient was supposed to have been Mrs. Ambrose Balmat and the message reads, "A Merry Christmas to you all from your brother Louie." This one's a beauty!

Around the Clock with Rocky and Ruthie 1947 (Trademark Activity Book)
2 Around the Clock with Rocky and Ruthie 1947 (Trademark Activity Book)
Akron, Ohio Saalfield 1947 soft cover Very good
This is an interesting piece of ephemera for children fro m Akron Saalfield Publishing. It's sort of a book, but more a booklet with a strange little spin. It's very nice and clean and measures 6"x11" with a bright attractive cover design. The only fault is one flat crease to the bottom back corner. It's amazing that this book survived in such great condition because it was designed as an activity book in which children were encouraged to clip pictures of products from ads in the newspaper and paste them at the appropriate places in the story. Fortunately, this copy survived unscathed! The "story" shows a brother and sister at various times throughout the day beginning with brushing their teeth (toothplaste ad required) to a pre-bedtime game of naming trademarks. Rather odd, but cute.

Cincinnati In Bronze (With Slipcase, 1959)
3 Cincinnati In Bronze (With Slipcase, 1959)
Child Health Association 1959 First Edition Stated Hard cover Very Good Condition Very Good Conditon
Crisp clean gift book still in its handsome slipcase. I've seen this book before, but never in a slipcase before now. The book is crisp and clean as new with no names or writing. The dustjacket has a few little nicks, but overall is quite nice. The photo on front is the Tyler Davidson Fountain, a gift to the city by Henry Probasco in memory of his brother-in-law, Tyler Davidson. It was dedicated in 1871. The rest of the book likewise celebrates all things commenorated in bronze in the Queen City. Book measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and looks great in slipcase which shows no fault. This one's both hard cover booklet and gift book.

Guy Lombardo And His Royal Canadians Booklet (SIGNED by Lombardo & Band Members, 1950's)
4 Guy Lombardo And His Royal Canadians Booklet (SIGNED by Lombardo & Band Members, 1950's)
Hollywood, California Popular Programs circa 1950's Card cover Good condition
I almost passed this one by because of the inked name on the front cover and the wear along the spine. But I opened it anyway and there was Guy Lombardo's signature! From there it got even better -- I found four more signatures from band members -- Bill Flanagan, guitarist and vocalist; Kenny Gardner, vocalist; Cliff Grass, saxman and clarinetist; Victor Lombardo, youngest brother (saxaphonist); and a name I can't decipher. It's next to Lebert Lombardo, but it's a conundrum because the first name seems to be Lebert, but the last name looks like it ends with "t." Booklet is lavishly illustrated with black and white photographs and provides much information about Guy Lombardo and his family and band. As stated, the booklet has some issues, but it's still tightly bound and clean and of course the signatures are historic.

Screen Book Magazine October, 1936
6 Screen Book Magazine October, 1936
Louisville, Kentucky Fawcett Publications 1936 Volume XVIII, No. 3 soft cpover Very good condition
Very nice clean magazine with just a small bit of spine strip missing at bottom. Does not impinge on integrity of binding, but I covered it with almost invisible archival tape. The cover is beautiful, a painting of Marlene Dietrich in "The Garden of Allah." Many photos and lots to read. Some of the highlights include "Claudette Colbert's Brother Says ..."; "Four Unseen Women in Bob Taylor's Life"; "Errol Flynn Wild Irishman"; The Marriage of Dick Powell and Joan Blondell; "Rosalind Russell Tells How to Get Rid of a Rival" and "If I Hadn't Been An Actor" by Gary Cooper. Magazine measures 8-1/2" x 11".

New York City The American Spectator Inc. 1932-1933 Volume I, Nos. 1-7 Soft cover Very good condition
Aren't these handsome with their original colorful bands? The bands slip on and off, so not to worry about being able to read the articles. What's interesting also is the fact that these are the first ever issues. There are many voices here that you will recognize -- Theodore Dreiser, Eugene O'Neill, Clarence Darrow, Liam O'Flaherty, Louis Untermeyer, Sean O'Casey, Booth Tarkington, and more. Closed the papers measures 9" x 11-1/2". Only volume I shows some toning to front pages. NOTE -- this is not the political magazine of the same name.

Journals of Dorothy Wordsworth (1958), Darbishire, Helen (editor)
8 Darbishire, Helen (editor) Journals of Dorothy Wordsworth (1958)
London Oxford University 1958 First edition thus Hard Cover Very Good condition Good condition
What a charming little book this is. A handsome gift book comprised of two journals kept by Dorothy Wordsworth who was the sister of the poet Wordsworth and his friend the poet Coleridge. The Alfoxden Journal was kept in 1798 while the Grasmere Journals spanned 1800-1803. Dorothy Wordsworth was a writer herself, so the journal is most pleasant to read. She speaks of everyday things and the beauty of the English countryside -- a very soothing book to pick up at the end of a stressful day. The charm of it also its size. Though not technically a miniature book, it still measures a diminutive 4"x 6" and has 264 pages which also includes her brother's shorter poems. It will arrive in a mylar cover to protect the dustjacket. The only fault is sunning to the spine. There is also a previous owner's name and the date written small on the front free endpaper for which I will provide a bookplate which the buyer can use,or not at, discretion.

Philadelphia Philip H. and A.S.W. Rosenbach Foundation Museum 1973 Soft cover Very good condition
Very nice clean exhibition catalog from the collection of Dr. A.S.W. Rosenbach, a bibliophile, collector, and prominent bookseller in his day. Rosenbach died, but his reputation continues. His brother, Philip H. Rosenbach, maintained his brother's vast collection of 25,000 books and 100,000 pieces of manuscript. The exhibit, which was held by the Grolier Club, consisted of 210 items, some of which are pictured in black and white. The catalog measures 8-3/4" x 11-1/4" and has 117 pages including index. Cover is nicely made with French wraps. (Collect. Drawer II)

London and Glasgow Collin No date Flexible cover Fine in Near Fine Slipcase No DJ Anderson, Marjorie
This is a gift book, part of a series titled the Collins Greeting Booklets. I've had one before and they're nicely designed. The booklet is clean and without defect and the slipcase is charming with a rectangular cut-out. The booklet inside its sturdy slipcase measures 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" and has 127 pages. The print is very readable and there are very handsome illustrations. A classic! Very scarce in the slipcase. NOTE: I took a picture of the gift inscription from a woman who gave it to her brother because it's readable and beautiful. I like to add on to previous gifters whenever I give a little book as a gift.
