Art In America Magazine May/June, 1970 Mormon Art & Architecture, Alexander Calder)
1 Art In America Magazine May/June, 1970 Mormon Art & Architecture, Alexander Calder)
New York Art In America Inc. 1970 soft cover Good-plus
This is an especially good issue of this art magazine if you are interested in Mormon life, art, and architecture. Eighteen pages plus the cover are devoted to the subject with many photographs in both color and black and white. The coverage consists of three articles: A Panorama of Mormon Life, Mormon Art and Architecture, and Mormon Society -- A Photo Story. The other standout is a full color, heavyweight fold-out by Alexander Caldwell to accompany an article about him and his work, Spirals. The magazine measures 9"x12" and is very clean and tightly bound. Faults are exterior and small -- light wear to all corners with a tiny snip of top front one and a small bit of wear to bottom of spine. Overall very nice. NOTE: Due to weight and size this item incurs extra shipping for overseas mailing. Please contact us with destination for quote. U.S. orders ship for $2.

It measures 8-1/4" x 10-1/2" and has 112 pages plus back matter. The catalog shows many differnt types of art -- metal sculpture, wooden book cover, paintings, furniture, textiles, silver filigree, jewelry, jade items, metal thread embroideries and enameled gold, among others.

4 Christie's Auction Catalog: The Connoisseur's Eye New York 2 June, 2015
New York City Christie's 2015 #10859 Card cover Fine condition
I love the contemporary auction catalog, so beautiful compared to the ones of old with paper covers and no color pictures. The new ones are also oversized -- this one measures 8-1/4" x 10-1/2" and has gorgeous white coated paper and big color photos of the items. The auction offered European furniture, sculpture, ceramics, tapestries and carpets worth millions of dollars. The book is pristine inside and out and showcases 438 lots.

Festival Book and Programs Blossom Music Center Eleventh Season 1978 Cleveland Orchestra
7 Festival Book and Programs Blossom Music Center Eleventh Season 1978 Cleveland Orchestra
Cleveland Edward Howard Company 1978 Hard cover Very Good condition
Blossom Music Center of Akron, Ohio has welcomed the annual summer festival of music by the Cleveland Orchestra for decades. I have been there many times and yet I have never seen this book before. There are great area ads at the front and info on Blosson, but the real core of the book is the programs bound-in from the entire 1978 season and the program notes spanning June 20th to September 8. Among the stars were guest conductor Henry Mancini, the San Francisco Ballet, and the Cleveland Orchestra Boys' Choir. Book measures 6-1/2" x 9" and is not paginated. It's very clean and tightly bound with what appears to be a repair to lower front corner which is holding well. (Entertainment II)

This catalogue represented Sale Number 3866 which was devoted to fine Oriental rugs and carpets from the estates of Helen L. Wilson, Amelia M. Martin, and Anne S. Nealon. Frank Lloyd Wright A Modern Aesthetic June 6 to July 15, 1986 (The Darwin D. Martin House)
9 Frank Lloyd Wright A Modern Aesthetic June 6 to July 15, 1986 (The Darwin D. Martin House)
Chicago, Illinois Struve Gallery 1986 card cover Very Good Condition
This is a beautiful catalog in very good condition. It should, however, have a white paper dustwrapper printed with the exact design on the cover of the booklet itself. It's still very attractive with no defect of note. The Darwin D. Marvin house was built in Buffalo, New York in 1903-1904 and was considered the house that truly showed Wright's genius. Wright was friends with the owners until the death of Darwin Martin in 1935. Until then he designed furniture, lighting fixtures and even dresses for Mrs. Martin. He also consulted on the couple's collection of Japanese prints and ceramics. This booklet measures 8" x 11" and is illustrated handsomely with photos of the stained glass windows and the furniture.

10 Genealogists' Magazine: Journal of the Society of Genealogists June, 2003
London, England Society of Genealogists Enterprises Ltd. 2003 Volume 27, Number 10 card cover Very Good Condition
Love this magazine, especially this issue. If you are of a literary bent, it's fun to read the first article titled The Family of Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin and Mary Shelley, replete with family tree. Other interesting articles are: A True and Faithful Inventory of the Goods Belonging to Dr. Swift, Vicar of Lara Cor; Hugenot Family Research made Easier; Asylum and Schools for Imbeciles at Darenth, Kent; History of No. 64 Squadron R.F.C.; and new developments in Medieval Genealogy. Great Lakes Exposition Cleveland Centennial June 27 to Oct. 4, 1936 (Brochure)
11 Great Lakes Exposition Cleveland Centennial June 27 to Oct. 4, 1936 (Brochure)
Cleveland, Ohio Great Lake Exposition 1936 soft cover Good-plus condition
This small brochure is not seen too often, and yet it's for the first year of the event which coincided with Cleveland's Centennial. The paper is still crisp and clean, but there is a small tear to the bottom of the fold on one of the panels. Look carefully and you can set it in too of the photos. It had been repaired with what I think is archival tape. The brochure measures 3" x 6-1/4" and opens to 12" with text on both sides of all panels. A lot of information here despite limited space! Nice collectible.

Ithaca Gun Catalog 1939 (Ithaca, Lefever and Western Arms Guns)
13 Ithaca Gun Catalog 1939 (Ithaca, Lefever and Western Arms Guns)
Ithaca, New York Ithaca Gun Company circa 1939-40 soft cover Good condition
This catalog will arrive with the two extra advertising pieces I found inside, both of which were produced by Ithaca in 1940. The only thing that bothers me a little is that the first page is numbered 3, but there is no evidence of any pages having been torn out. Page three was blank initially until a notice was pasted onto it with a list of new prices for June, 1940 (see photo). The booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and ends on page 22. The First extras is a three panel brochure advertising Ithaca, Lefever and Western Arms models -- all repeaters and new prices. The second item is a four page brochure of dealer price quotes (orange paper).

Kodakery Magazines June, July 1931
15 Kodakery Magazines June, July 1931
Rochester, New York Kodak International Good-plus
In this digital age when cameras are built into phones it's amazing that only 82 years ago a relatively primitive Kodak would be state of the art. The Kodak camera is not be dismissed lightly though, as it brought home photography to the masses. The little magazines (I love the name Kodakery!) encourage amateurs to enter a big money contest with lots of tips and ideas. Great photos throughout of weddings, children etc. There's articles about what makes pictures interesting, the new Kodak Verichrome film, tips on nature pictures and more. Magazines measure a small 5-1/2"x7-1/2" and are clean and tightly bound.

19 Official World's Fair Weekly Century of Progress Chicago, 1933
chicago A Century of Progress Internatioanl Exhibition 1933 Vol. I, No. 8 soft cover Very condition
From May to October 1933 the entity overseeing the Chicago World's Fair published a full-out magazine with stories about the exhibits and information on what to do each day. The highlights for this week, the fourth, went on until June 24th. The big event was the Zoo of Dragons. I took a picture of both the ad and the opening pages of the story itself -- quite an endeavor! Other stories include a convention bringing together scientists from all over the world; the exhibition of the painting, Whistler's Mother, which was on loan from a museum in Paris; the story of neon lights; log rolling; faster trains; the art of Sweden; a cyclorama of the Battle of Gettysburg; an Old West Town and much more. Magazine is in clean, tightly bound condition -- very nice. Measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 64 pages.
