1 B&O Railroad Miniature Metal Sign and Three B&O Color Postcards
Earlton, New York; Washington Audio-Visual Designs & Washington Chapter NRHS 1967 All In fine Condition
This is a unique offering -- a small 3" diameter metal sign for the B&O Railroad, offered in the 1950's as a premium for Post cereals. The collector who owned it paired it with three color postcards, one of which is dated 1967. None have been used or written on and all are in excellent condition. The dated one was published by Washington Chapter NRHS and shows a President Class 4-6-2 pulling the B&O's Ambassador past Ivy City as it leaves Union Station Washington, D.C. Dec. 16, 1951. The other cards show "The Cincinnatian" train No 53 westbound from Toledo, Ohio July, 1956 and the B&O Mikado standing at rest during the final steam passenger run May, 1958 from Cleveland to Halloway, Ohio. We have several more pairings of metal signs and cards.

Daily Food for Christians 1910 (Miniature Book)
2 Daily Food for Christians 1910 (Miniature Book)
New York Thomas Y. Crowell & Co. Circa 1910 Hard cover Very Good No jacket
Pretty little book which was a gift from a mother to her daughter. The book has no printed date so the inscription dated 1910 saves the day. It measures 3-1/4" x 2-1/2" and has 192 pages. The book is nicely made with subtle endpapers and gilding around all three edges of the text block. Book was intended to be read daily -- a few lines from Scripture and a few from a hymn. The inscription reads "Miss Virginia Lane Christmas, 1910 From Mother."

Jane Austen's Little Instruction Book
3 Jane Austen's Little Instruction Book
White Plains, New York Peter Pauper Press Inc. 1995 0880886935 / 9780880886932 First Edition Hard cover Very good condition Very good dust jacket
This little book is charming, the perfect gift for a literary woman. The book is divided into these themes: Women, Men, Relationships, Simple Rules and Life Lessons, each comment of which was written by Austen in one of her beloved novels. The book is small, but not a true miniature. It measures 4-1/2" tall and 6-1.4" wide with 63 pages. The book is clean and bright with no tears, chips, or creasing. The only defect, if you consider one, is a gift inscription which reads thus, "--------, with all our Aloha." I have a pretty floral bookplate laid-in for the buyer to use it or not.

The Holy Bible Containing the Old and New Testaments Together with the Apocrypha: Translated Out of the Original Tongues, and with the Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised (1849 Small Bible with Six Family Names with Dates)
13 The Holy Bible Containing the Old and New Testaments Together with the Apocrypha: Translated Out of the Original Tongues, and with the Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised (1849 Small Bible with Six Family Names with Dates)
Philadelphia Jesper Harding 1849 Hard cover Good
Small Bibles were often lost, but this one is quite the exception. There are SIX entries written at the front, all from the 19th century. The Bible is very small, but it is technically not a miniature book as it measures 3" across and 4-1/2" tall. As you can see, the cover is worn, but the wear pattern is attractive, as this was a much used book and brings with its history every name and every blemish. There used to a flap to close it, but the mechanism has broken off. And yet somehow the pages are tightly bound and in very nice condition. The first entry is in pencil and very faint now, but the rest are quite readable. The second one is "Paskey Lena Wier, Born July 15, 1826". The name appears again on the next page stamped in gold. The third name is "Nancy Ellen Conrad Born August 16th 1854 and died August 12th 1861." Beneath hers is "Martin Conrad Died October 16th 1854." Next comes Paskey L. Andrews Died March 31st, 1859." I think Paskey is a surname, but even that didn't help me determine where this family came from. I bought this Bible near Akron, Ohio, but that may,or may not be, where its from.

Burlington, Vermont North American Lily Society Inc. 1978,'79,'80 and '81 Hard Cover Fine Condition
Once in awhile hard cover books are ephemeral, easily disposed as one annual replaces another year after year. Here we have what four so crisp and clean it's questionable if they were even read. If lilies are your thing, these are a delight, as each volume is filled with articles and information useful to the grower. Each is illustrated with black and white photos and covers a wide array of topics. Here's some highlighta: 1978 -- China's lilies; miniature lilies; our ancestor's lilies; a theory on disease resistance and susceptibility; breeding lilies on the Canadian prairies; cloning wood lilies; leaf scorch; the harvesting and storage of lily bulbs; and ten hints to make impossible crosses possible. 1979 -- How to run a lily show; lilies as winter-flowering houseplants; early fast forcing; hybridizing; Robert Simonet and the rescued lilies; the progress and expectations of lily culture in the Netherlands; the origin of the Michigan hybrids; a lily sanctuary at the Rae Selling Berry botanic garden; and the Halloween lily. 1980 -- Growth patterns and developments of lilies; lily hybridizing in Michigan; diagnosis of virus diseases in lilies; the Montana State University series of trumpet lilies; and germinating and growing Asiatic lilyseedlings. 1981 -- Tissue culture without intimidation; growing and hybridizing lilies in New Zealand; midwestern Oriental lilies; Botrytis at Honeywood; observations and experiences with native lilies in Korea; Easter lilies in Cos and Curry County history; and the Turk's-Cap lilies of Eastern North America. Your New Westclox Alarm (Miniature Advertising Book 1930's))
16 Your New Westclox Alarm (Miniature Advertising Book 1930's))
La Salle, Illinois Western Clock Company 1920's - 1930's soft cover Fine condition
Attention miniature book collectors! Though this isn't really a book it became one when Westclox turned their advertising message into a story. The odds of finding one of these are probably poor to none because it measures a tiny 2-1/4" x 3-1/4". Oddly there's no date, but given the picture of the stove -- yes, the little book is illustrated -- appears to be from the late 20's or the 30's. Westclox made alarm clocks in 1909, so they were nothing new. But you'd never know that by reading the little book about all the many things a Westclox alarm clock can help you with through the day. The book is like new with 18 pages and six illustrations. Great collectible for horologists, or miniature book fans.

Cleveland, Ohio Ruth Adomeit 1960 Volume I, Nos. 1-2-3-4 soft cover Fine condition
These little magazines are revered by collectors and members of the Miniature Book Society which was launched by Ruth Adomeit and other like-minded bibliophiles. Here we have the coveted first year's output -- all four magazines. In these pages, which measure 3-1/4"x4", are many topics including: how to define a miniature book; Le Petite Oiseau Press; Japanese miniature books; books about miniature books; Life Magazine in miniature; and more. Each issue has 16 pages. Also, along with the magazines are two much thinner issues of Life magazine, the very first issue which came out November 23, 1936 and a later one (no date) in full color, likely from 1960. These measure 2-1/4" x 3-1/4". Very desirable and very scarce.(Collector --Drawer I)
