Stunning catalog filled with vintage cars which were the finest of their time and remain so today. Every page is in color printed on quality coated paper. Inside the catalog is a partial list of the cars which were to be sold. The sale doesn't appear to be an auction though, as they called it an exhibition sale. The oldest cars on the partial list were a 1929 Cadillac Dual Cowl Paeton and a 1929 Duesenberg J. Bohman & Schwartz Berline. The catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 14 lavish pages.

Stage; The Magazine of After Dark Entertainment December, 1937 (FDR Lampoon, Snow White & 7 Dwarfs Movie)
7 Stage; The Magazine of After Dark Entertainment December, 1937 (FDR Lampoon, Snow White & 7 Dwarfs Movie)
New York City Stage Publishing Company 1937 soft cover Very Good
Beautifully clean, sophisticated magzine which addresses all of the performing arts and other night time pleasures in the city. The ads are wonderful -- many, if not most, are for high end items. There's always a lot to read in these and this one is no exception. The big stories are a play called I'd Rather Be Right which was a lampoon about President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, an essay about being a foot soldier in the battle of prohibition; and the new Disney Studio's movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This issue also offers ideas for Christmas presents, plus drink recipes that had been forgotten. Magazine measures 10"x14" and has 123 pages. Only detractions are a small bit of edge wear. Very clean and tightly bound.

The Future of Molybdenum Climax Molybdenum Company (1966)
8 The Future of Molybdenum Climax Molybdenum Company (1966)
New York Climax Molybdenum Company 1966 card cover Very good
For some reason I love the word molybdenum, so every time I see it I buy it in whatever form it presents itself. This booklet is particularly nice, both in terms of condition and presentation. The black and white photographs are full page and quite striking. The booklet measures 8"x10" and is printed on quality coated paper throughout. Of course company advertising was a major reason for publication, but there was also a greater reason affecting the entire industry. Prior to 1966 a percentage of molybdenum sales could not be fulfilled, so now that things had changed it was time to spread the news.

11 Art Buchwald, Introduction Think Christmas; Junior League Washington D.C. 1977
Washington D.C. Junior League of the City of Washington Inc. 1977 Fourth printing Card cover, Plastic Spiral Binding Fine condition
Junior Leagues over all the U.S. create amazing cookbooks in both hard cover and soft. But this one, though it's a simple design, has two secret goodies. The first is an introduction by the humourist, Art Buchwald, who wrote for the Washington Post. He also received two Pulitzer prizes -- 1982 and 1986. But back to the other good thing -- the book has the usual, but unusually good recipes, and has an extensive list of ideas and crafts to make the holidays beautiful. Here's a few examples centerpieces, mini trees, tree trimming, wreaths, mantles, gifts for family and friends, potpourri, gifts for children to make, and presents for the young. But wait! There's still one more good thing -- the book is like brand new! It measures 6-3/4" x9" and has 207 pages.

Your Morrell Meat Dealer Presents the 1952 Morrell Calendar: Songs From Our Favorite Operettas, Balet, Jan (artist)
12 Balet, Jan (artist) Your Morrell Meat Dealer Presents the 1952 Morrell Calendar: Songs From Our Favorite Operettas
Ottumwa, Iowa Home of Radar O'Reilly of M*A*S*H John Morrell & Co. 1952 soft cover Very good
I have seen these calendars online, but never hard one before I bought this one yesterday. Had it been the W.C. Wyatt I would have been over the moon, but I'm happily moon-gazing enough with this one. Not only is the condition excellent, butthe art inside is rich and bright, though you'd never know it from that blah cover. Moral of the story: don't judge the calendar by its cover! If you love operettas this is a treat. Here's the songs depicted and the shows they come from: "The Merry Widow Waltz" from The Merry Widow; "Song of the Vagabond" from The Vagabond King; "One Alone" from The Desert Song; "Sweethearts" from the operetta of the same name; "This Is My Song of Love" from Blossom Time; "Three Little Maids From School" from The Mikado; "Because You're You" from The Red Mill; "Indian Love Call" from Rose Marie; "Deep In My Heart, Dear" from The Student Prince; "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" from Naughty Marietta; "Lover, Come Back to Me from The New Moon; and "Toyland" from Babes in Toyland. Calendar measures 8-1/2"x18-1/2" and retains its metal hanger. Will be shipped flat. OVERSEAS ORDERS welcome, but shipping costs will be higher than stated due to size. You can use the contact button. Let me know where you are and I will quote actual cost.

The Army Air Forces Presents Irving Berlin's All Soldier Musical Show
13 Berlin, Irving The Army Air Forces Presents Irving Berlin's All Soldier Musical Show "This Is the Army" with Personal Appearance of Irving Berlin (1942-43)
No location stated United States Army Special Service Division circa 1942-43 soft cover Good condition
There must have been many of these programs, but it's a bare bones publication with no pictures or art. And yet it tells a great story. Irving Berlin staged the entire show "This is The Army" which had a cast consisting of all soldier actors. It was a musical replete with an orchestra, vaudeville, original songs, and a ladies chorus. It opened on Broadway in the summer of 1942 for a four week run which turned into twelve weeks Eleanor Roosevelt liked it so much she saw it more than once. After that the show hit the "road" for Europe, the Far East, and the Pacific theatre of war. The last show was in February, 1943. There are lots of names here, so if you have an ancestor who might have been in it let me know and I'll look it up. the program measures 6-3/4" x 8" and has six pages.

Souvenir Book The Three Penny Opera; Great Lakes Theater Festival (1989), Brechy, Bertolt
14 Brechy, Bertolt Souvenir Book The Three Penny Opera; Great Lakes Theater Festival (1989)
Cleveland, Ohio Great Lakes Theater Festival 1989 Card cover Fine condition
This one is very handsome and presents as brand new, but of course is not. I thought it was a program when I bought it, but it's actually a souvenir booklet which tells all about the play itself; its author ,Bertolt Brechy; its composer, Kurt Weill; the history of a "trailblazing musical" which debuted first in 1928 Berlin; and an interview with director Victoria Bussert. Measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 20 counted pages.

Texas On Paper Organized and Curated by Cheryl A. Brutvan and Linda Cathcart (1982-84), Brutvan, Cheryl; Cathcart, Linda (Curators)
15 Brutvan, Cheryl; Cathcart, Linda (Curators) Texas On Paper Organized and Curated by Cheryl A. Brutvan and Linda Cathcart (1982-84)
New York Independent Curators Incorporated and the Houston Contemporary Arts Museum 1982 Card cover
This is not the usual art catalog which presents the works in booklet form. This one is a portfolio which contains fifteen cards measuring 8" x 11" with the works on the front and the artist's biography on the back. The fifteen artists are these and all are accounted for: Linda Blackburn, Suzanne Hitt Bocanegra, Jean A. Dibble, Michael Doga, Vernon Fisher, Roberto Munguia, Bradley R. Petersen, Jim Poag, Albert T. Scherbarth, Charles Schorre, Gael Stack, Earl Staley, William Steen, James Surls, and Danny Williams. There are also three more cards which offer commentary from the curators, plus an errata page. All cards are clean and nice, as is the folder, though the latter has a small crease to the upper corner which I have re-enforced on the back with a small piece of archival tape. This is a fairly scarce item considering that the exhibit traveled for three years in Boulder, Colorado; Abilene Texas; Tyler, Texas; Buffalo, New York; Tucson, Arizona; and Amarillo, Texas.

Leo Buscaglia Love As A Behavior Modifier, 1971 (Learning Disabilities), Buscaglia, Leo
16 Buscaglia, Leo Leo Buscaglia Love As A Behavior Modifier, 1971 (Learning Disabilities)
Texas Texas Association for Children With Learning Disabilities 1971 soft cover Very good condition
Leo Buscaglia charmed audiences on NPR every time a fundraiser was in progress. His uplifting themes, endless stories, and humor drew people like a magnet. He had written many books too before his untimely death. Buscaglia was more than a showman, an author, or a motivational speaker -- he was also an educator, hence this booklet. It's a rather elusive item. I can't recall when or where I got it, but it's an interesting look at child rearing, especially children with special needs. Booklet is clean and tightly bound with just minor toning to spine and edgesof cover. It measures 8"x11" and has 26 pages and contains two articles -- Love As a Behavior Modifier and Help! I Have An Exceptional Child.

It's printed on quality coated paper and lavishly illustrated with instructional photographs plus photos of the finished designs. The booklet measures 7"x10-1/2" and has 45 pages of detailed instructions. Though ivory presents legal problems today, the techniques can be used on antlers and resin materials to get the same effect.

Ft. Walton Beach, Florida Giftways 1990 0962833908 / 9780962833908 Card cover Fine condition Denton, Betty
Crisp, clean booklet that presents as new. No names or writing and no creasing. This is one of the prettiest art how-tos I think I ever had. But it isn't all about beauty-- the instruction is very detailed throughout.Denton discusses supplies, terminology, techniques, and hints to improve. The lessons are focused on flowers, so these are the ones you will learn to paint --white azalea, old oak tree, peace rose, calla lily, iris, petunia, cascading azalia, and two additional looks at the peace rose from different perspectives. Booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 41 pages.

Early American Recipes Being A Collection of New England Family Favorite
19 Frost, Heloise Early American Recipes Being A Collection of New England Family Favorite "Rules" (Book in a Box) 1953
Newton, Massachusetts Phillips Publishers 1953 Soft cover in Box Very good
Attractive cookbook all by itself, but I do love a book in a box, so of course this one flew right into my hand. It's spiral bound with no sign of covers pulling away. There are no namesowr writing either and the two-piece box shows no defect of note save minor soil to front in a few spots. Barbara Corrigan's folk art is a perfect match for the pages of comfort food and presents itself in both color and in black and white. Recipes cover the following categories: chowders, soups and stews; breads; fish and sea foods; "fillin' dishes; vegetables; cakes and cookies; puddings and pies; and jams, jellies and preserves. 112 pages. If you are looking for the infamous Scripture Cake it's right here with all verses cited.
