Change the Date Novelty Congratulations Postcard 1908
4 Change the Date Novelty Congratulations Postcard 1908
Unknown 1909 Very good
This is a truly unique postcard, as there are two operating wheels which allow you to change both the month and the day. Both work very well, but you have to grasp the slim edges with your nails to do it. Quite a novelty and very pretty in pastel. The card was mailed with no message to Bertha Randall of 310 W/. Smith Road, Medina, Ohio -- right here when I am! Only fault is an erasure at front of green mailbox where name of sender had been.

Florida Official Road Map 1952
5 Florida Official Road Map 1952
State Road Department of Florida 1952 soft cover Fine
Crisp, clean, seemingly unused, map of Florida -- just the thing for a 50's road trip. What's neat about it is that you could use the front address lines and send it back home to friends and family. This one, however, was not sent. The map sports color photos and when folded is larger than the maps issued by the service stations. Closed it meaures 5"x8-1/2". There's extra tourist info too, such as a list of the meanings of Florida Indian names. Note on front -- "Drive safely .... prevent sorrow." This was a time when kids bounced around the backseat of the car like balls for playing jacks. I was one of them!!

Very nice, extensive travel guide to seeing Quebec by car. In addition to photos to entice travelers, there's much info on 55 routes, each with its own special charms. There are also two fold-out maps, both in excellent condition. The smaller one is of Quebec, the larger one shows the individual drives the driver can take. Guide measures 6" x 9" and has 294 pages. Book is tightly bound with only defect being some light creasing to corners -- overall it's nice. And yet there's one more good thing -- a brochure for motoring to Gaspe National Park and canoe trips on the Grand Cascapedia River. No date but it was tucked away in the guide. English language.

Logan County Bicentennial Photo Album (Ohio -- Extra Ephemera Laid-in)
9 Logan County Bicentennial Photo Album (Ohio -- Extra Ephemera Laid-in)
Logan County, Ohio Logan County Historical Society 1976 soft cover Fine
Oddly, here is no date on this pristine booklet, but opening remarks show that it coincided with the 200th anniversary of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence which places it in 1976. Laid-in is a brochure which is a second clue since it commemorates the 1976 designation of East Court Avenue, in Bellefontaine, Ohio as a National Historical Civil Engineering Landmark. It seems that this small town was the first place in the country to have a road paved with concrete. The booklet itself is filled with historic pictures and captions. 72 crisp, clean pages.

New York Life Building (Omaha, Nebraska Print)
11 New York Life Building (Omaha, Nebraska Print)
Unknown Unknown Unknown Fine condition
I bought this at an estate sale along with a small stack of other attractive prints depicting various landmarks of Omaha, Nebraska. The odd thing is there's no information other than the site and its origin. The scene shows horses and carriages and a streetcar at the side of the road, so it appears to depict the early 1900's. The image is of the New York Life building and is printed on heavy cardstock. It measures 7-1/2"x9" and is clean and nice on both sides.

Nickel Plate Railroad Miniature Metal Sign and Two Nickel Plate Postcards
12 Nickel Plate Railroad Miniature Metal Sign and Two Nickel Plate Postcards
Earlton, New York Audio Visual Designs Very good
This is a rather unique offering -- a 3" square miniature Nickel Plate Road Railroad that had been a premium for Post Cereals back in the 1950's. The previous owner, a collector, paired the sign with two unused Nickel Plate Road color postcards. The first shows the Nickel Plate 763 fresh out of Conneaut, Ohio and waiting for a repair in September 1958. The second card shows the Nickel Plate 758 and 754, a westbound freight from Fostoria, Ohio September, 1958. Everything is in very good condition.

Photograph Album Camp Whipporwill Grayling,Michigan 1927
13 Photograph Album Camp Whipporwill Grayling,Michigan 1927
Grayling, Michigan Home-made 1927 Card cover Very Good
Though slim, this lovely clean album captures in eleven photographs a July vacation in Grayling, Michigan, known for its summer get-aways. The pictures are all of the same group, both men and women. Some views are scenic -- a lake, a bridge, a winding road, and a nice log cabin, but there are also people enjoying archery practice, women on the lake in a canoe, posed shots on the bridge, an old car stuffed with people, a shed showing three old cars lined up inside and a car with an open trailer filled with stuff outside in front of the cabin where a man observes. The album measures 6"x8-1/2" and the photos are roughly 3-1/2"x6". The only fault is mottling to the back cover with dark and lighter areas

15 Porsche Boxster 1997 4 Booklets, 1 Card and 3 Auto Magazine Test Drives
Porsche Cars North America Inc. 1997 soft cover Very Fine
This is an amazing offering, all purchased from the same collector, If you love cars, and especially the Porsche Boxster, this is a piece of automotive heaven. Everything is quality printed and illustrated in color. What we have here is the main booklet which measures 6"x9" and has 84 color illustrated pages. The second largest booklet in terms of page numbers (56 pages) shows the cars to their maximum. The other two measure about the same, but are smaller in content. The one without a title has 15 pages and folds out at back to show an array of color for the body, carpet and upholstery. Tequipment is a card fold-out showing accessories. There is almost a beautiful card showing the car with no message inside. Lastly, we have the results of three test drives conducted by AutoWeek, Road & Track, and Car and Driver. These are not taken from magazines -- they are glitzy stand-alone brochures. VERY nice package!!

17 Postcards Costume Siciliano (Two cards, 1939)
Italy Cecami 1939 Very good condition
These are lovely postcards, part of a larger set. I once had a full set and as I recall it came in a wrapper. Here are two examples both of which are color saturated. Both are also unused, so no stamps and no messages. I especially like the fancy table set up on the side of the road. Small bit of wear to lower right corner on each. Red Cross War Fund WWII Ephemera 1944
18 Red Cross War Fund WWII Ephemera 1944
The American Red Cross
Here's a WWII trio comprised of a Red Cross sticker, a leaflet from 1944 (four sided)titled "This Is My Share", and a large folded leaflet, again four-sided and from 1944, titled "Red Cross At His Side". All are in very nice clean condition, but the large one needs to be handled carefully when opened, as old paper of this type can be easily torn. So far it's done well! The large one measures 11"x16" when closed and opens to a full page spread of photographs while the reverse shows cartoons about how the Red Cross handles the injured on the road to recovery, those in home service, prisoners of war, and disaster victims. The small leaflet measures 3-1.4"x5-1/2" and is meant to garner donations.

The Shasta Route Along the Southern Pacific, Road of a Thousand Wonders
19 The Shasta Route Along the Southern Pacific, Road of a Thousand Wonders
Chicago Curt Teich No datel Circa Early 1900's Exclusive Edition Card cover Good condition
This booklet has a bit of wear, but is still a lovely thing. I repaired a few ouchies, especially on the spine with archival tape which you can barely see. The booklet measures 9-1/4"x 12-1/4" and has 21 full pages filled with black and white photography -- beautiful! The only others are a map and a double page scene of Mt. Shasta. What's interesting is that the original owner got this by buying a ticket to the train on the way to Shasta.

New York Bernarr NacFadden 1938 Vol. 15, No. 3 soft cover Very Good condition
This was a very popular magazine in the 30's and 40's. This issue is especially good as the names of three popular authors of the day immediately popped off the contents page -- Adela Rogers St. John writing about the new sorrows of the Duchess of Windsor; historian, Emil Ludwig, writing about how Franklin Roosevelt started on the road to the White House; and H.G. Wells writing about British Propaganda in the U.S.. There's also a story by Grace Perkins titled The Unbreakable Mrs. Doll. Magazine measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 58 pages.
