Keith Tyson Fractal Dice (2008)
3 Keith Tyson Fractal Dice (2008)
New York City PaceWindenstein 2008 1930743904 / 9781930743908 Hard cover Fine condition No dust jacket as issued.
From its notebook look to its colorful sculptures this is a very different art catalog. Keith Tyson is a British conceptual artist and winner of the Turner Prize in 2002 for his graphic art. The sculptures depicted came to light due to his curiosity about decision-making during the creative process. The essential question was can the artist dare to take a chance on chance? Yes! And from then he went on to create a series of steps to calculate and determine the size, shape, and colors of each work and then fabricate the outcome which became a "dicey" and very interesting exhibit.Catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 42 pristine pages.

Postcard
4 Postcard "The First Jury" Akron, Ohio Court House (1909)
Akron, Ohio Long & Taylor Comopany 1909 Good
Depicted in this photo is the second court house in Akron, Ohio. It was completed in 1908 and there on the steps are the first jury in the new building. The card is postmarked January 25, 1909 and was sent to Edna Stocksdale of Dundee, Ohio. The message appears to have been partially erased and is virtually unreadable. Card also shows some smudges at back, but the main problem is a horizontal crease to entire card. The good news is it's in no danger of snapping off and is not hugely noticeable. This is an uncoomin card and I have placed it in a plastic sleeve.

Trent Movie Theatre New Rochelle, 1936
5 Trent Movie Theatre New Rochelle, 1936
New Rochelle, New York Trent Theatre 1936 Nov. 4-5; Nov. 6,7,8; Nov. 9-10 Leaklet soft cover Near fine condition
These little leaflets are hard to find because they're easily tossed away after the movies have been enjoyed. The leaflet is printed on an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet folded in the middle, so there are a week's entertainment. The first one is Marlene Dietrich And Charles Boyer in the Garden of Allah and The 39 Steps with Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll. Open it up and Bette Davis and Claude Rains take over "Mr. Skeffinton" and "Lady Bodyguard" with Eddie Albert and Anne Shirley. Next to those are "A Girl, A Guy and A Gob" with George Murphy, Lucille Bal, l and Edmond O'Brien and "Wildcat" starring Richard Arlen and Atline Judge. The back ad is for "Brenda Starr Reporter" with Joan Woodbury, and Kane Richmonds. This apears to be sa erial movie, as the leaflet says "Don't Miss a Chapter every Friday and Saturday." There's also a comment on seeing Brenda every Friday and Saturday. The ads are clean and nice with just one very small tear which I have mended with archival tape.

Folk Dance Problem Solver 2016, Houston, Ron
6 Houston, Ron Folk Dance Problem Solver 2016
No location Self-published 2016 9781930890486 Annual Card cover Fine condition
I've been selling ephemera for 20 years and yet I have never seen this guide. I thought it was a stand-alone until I opened the cover and realized that this was the 30th annual issue. It's very well done -- much information on how to emulate dances from all over the world. It is certainly a labor of love -- it's very difficult to turn dance steps into words that are easy to understand. Among the dances in this year's issue are these: The Dorset Four Hand Reel (England); Fjaskern (Swedish, Hurry-Scurry); Lauterbacher (Austrian); Old Family Waltz (Danish); Perinta (English, kissing dance); Polka Dot Polka (American round dance); Tarantella (Italy) and more. Guide measures 9" x 11" and is pristine inside and out. Spiral binding is completely intact. 77 pages.

Blarney Castle The Story of A Legend (1989), Pettit, Dr. Sean
10 Pettit, Dr. Sean Blarney Castle The Story of A Legend (1989)
County Cork, Ireland Blarney Castle Estate 1989 Card cover Fine condition
This is a pretty little souvenir and booklet sold to travelers who wait in line to kiss the Blarney Stone and roam the beauty of the magical grounds and also its manor house. I was there once, but I skipped the Stone because my Irish grandfather always told me I will never need to do it. The idea is to get "the gift of gab", but I was born with THAT and haven't stopped talking yet! The booklet is charming with 51 pages measuring a diminutive 4"x7". Much information in a little package.

Very handsome catalog with no spine crease and no names or writing. The only fault is sunning which turned the spine light blue instead of green. There is a considerable text also, including an essay about the work. Covers actual projects such as Roosevelt Island Housing; The Steps of Providence (Rhode Island); Pioneer Courthouse Portland, Oregon; Times Square Tower N.Y.C.; Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas; and University Center Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh. There are also sites located in Italy. The catalog was published to accompany an exhibit at Gund Gallery from April 4-21, 1989. Catalog is written in both English and Italian. 12 Sheldon, Charles M. In His Steps What Would Jesus Do? (Gift Book)
Philadelphia David McKay Co. No date Hard cover Very Good in Good Slipcase
This is a lovely little gift book, clean and bright inside and out. The slipcase is very sturdy, but does show wear to extremities. Having said that though, there's a pleasing feel about the wear pattern because it doesn't cause a problem with functionality. This title is a Christian classic and, though smallish in size (4-1/2" x 6"),is complete in 287 pages.
