Cleveland, Ohio Arcade Stores Savings Stamps (1950's)
1 Cleveland, Ohio Arcade Stores Savings Stamps (1950's)
Cleveland, Ohio Arcade Stores Date unknown, circa mid-1950's Card cover Very good
I grew up with top Value stamps and Green stamps, but I have no memory of savings stamps from the Cleveland Arcade Stores located on Euclid Avenue through to Superior. There are lots of stamps laid-in to the booklet and just a few pasted. There are actually three different stamps too -- Acrade Stores, Vita Mart, and F.& S.. Vita Mart was a health food store. The other store mentioned on the booklet was Toddle Town, an infants and childrens' store. The booklet measures 3-1/2" x 6". An unusual collectible not often seen.

Collector's Choice (Clements Library University of Michigan 1967)
2 Collector's Choice (Clements Library University of Michigan 1967)
Ann Arbor, Michigan Clements Library, Universityy of Michigan 1967 soft cover Fine condition
This is very much a bibliophile's booklet, so if you are a collector of books about books this one's for you! It's amazingly clean and nice and has 15 dense pages. The booklet is a guide to an exhibition of selected items from private collections formed by "certain members" of the Clement Library Associates. Collections hailed from Michigan, Ohio, Chicago, Connecticut, Seattle, and New York. Only one collector was a woman. Their topics covered Mackinac Island, American Indians, the Great Lakes, the far Northwest, medicine, the American Revolution, the Civil War, Winston Churchill, Lake Superior, sheet music, books about books, Florida and etiquette.

Postcard Empty Freighter Passing Bascule Bridge Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan
3 Postcard Empty Freighter Passing Bascule Bridge Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan
Chicago Curteich Unknown Very good
The intensity of color makes this card pop. The freighter is empty, just going under the Bascule drawbridge heading for Lake Superior. Card was never sent and there is no writing on the divided back. It's very clean with just a few isolated spots of minor edge wear. It will arrive in a plastic sleeve.

Smith & Wesson Manufacturers of Superior Revolvers (Original Envelope Plus Xtras) 1930
4 Smith & Wesson Manufacturers of Superior Revolvers (Original Envelope Plus Xtras) 1930
Springfield, Massachusetts Smith & Wesson 1930 Card cover Very good in good Envelope
Very nice catalog plus lots of extra goodies. The main attraction of course is the catalog which has 40 pages of products. Each item is photographed and described with plenty of detail. The catalog measures 7-1/2" x 9-1/2" and is very clean with just some light foxing to first and last pages. The catalog slips into the original envelope which is quite study, though has lost its flap. There had also been a letter which came in the letter section at the bottom of the larger envelope, but it has not survived. However, there's a nice brochure about the K-22 ,the Outdoors Man's Revolver, which opens to further text on both pages and still more at back. There is also a small price guide for the 1930 catalog and a very colorful little brochure about the S. & W.".38-.44" which opens to 8-1/2"x 10-1/4" Brochure is printed on both sides. All told, this is a nice package for the collector.

Snyder's Magic Shop Cleveland, Ohio E-Z Magic Catalog No. 23
5 Snyder's Magic Shop Cleveland, Ohio E-Z Magic Catalog No. 23
Store was in Cleveland, Ohio E-Z Magic circa 1960's Catalog 23 soft cover Very good condition
Oh, the memories of Snyder's Magic Shop located at 216 West Superior Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. Kids of all ages weighed the fantastic tricks to find the one worthy of a week's allowance. The catalog was produced by E-Z Magic, but there is no place of origin in the catalog. The E-Z Company is still in business and is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2016. They produced the catalog, but the dealer was Snyder. The catalog measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and has 72 pages with illustrations and descriptions of products. There's a vertical crease which I improved by ironing and some time in the book press. The top staple pulled away from the front cover without impinging on the integrity of the binding. the catalog is tightly bound. The products inside are fun, including a cut the woman in half rope trick! (Children)

The James A. Garfield Monument at Lake View Cemetery Cleveland, Ohio and Sepia Postcard of Garfield Monument in Cleveland
6 The James A. Garfield Monument at Lake View Cemetery Cleveland, Ohio and Sepia Postcard of Garfield Monument in Cleveland
Cleveland, Ohio Booklet unknown: Postcard Superior News Co. Booklet unknown; Postcard 1909 card cover booklet fine; postcard very good
The booklet is crisp and clean as new, but shows no publishing information. Inside, however, we found a beautiful sepia postcard pg Garfield Memorial at Lake View postmarked, February 8, 1909, Cleveland, Ohio. The divided back shows this message, "Regards from the Rabensteins Cleveland, Ohio, Bill." The address portion reads, Miss Anna Kiefler c/o Telephone Exchange, Cincinnati, Ohio Sta. L.. The booklet measures 6-1/4"x9-1/4" and has nine pages of text and photographs. It's clearly much newer than the postcard, but we found them together and they augment one another -- so together they stay!

A Comprehensive Coverage in Depth with Much New Play of the Ancient 26-23
7 Cantor, Conrad A Comprehensive Coverage in Depth with Much New Play of the Ancient 26-23 "Wisp" Defence Based on the Forced Line Principle (Checkers) SIGNED
Self-published 1967 soft cover Very good
A rather scarce little book of interest to the serious checkers player. Clean and tightly bound and measuring 5"x8" with 23 pages and errata slip laid in. Inscribed and SIGNED by author thus, "8/6/67 To --------, With my compliments. Regards fraternally, Conrad Cantor." A treatise which refutes the idea that the 22-18 Wisp defense is superior and argues instead for the 26-23. Based on the Will o'the Wisp defense. Incomprehensible if you don't play serious checkers!
