Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine (September 1984 Jackie Collins. David Letterman, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, Barbara Walters)
1 Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine (September 1984 Jackie Collins. David Letterman, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, Barbara Walters)
Interview Enterprises Inc. 1984 Volume XIV No. 9 soft cover Good-plus
Andy Warhols' magazines are so much fun to read. I love when some come my way and right now I have several. This one features Joan Collins, but there's also interviews with many celebrities with an emphasis on TV personalities including David Letterman, Tom Brakow, Peter Jennings and Barbara Walters. Huge magazine -- measures 11"x17". The text is clean as is the cover, though spine area and back cover do show some browning. There were also a few small tears at top and a circular tear at bottom. Both were repaired by me with archival tape. The lower one still suffers from a small paper loss. Will ship in U.S. for $2. WORLDWIDE ORDERS WELCOME, but due to size additional postage will be necessary. Please contact us with destination for an exact quote. Magazine is thicker than normal with 224 pages. Price lowered due to condition.

4 Linen Postcard Folkerth's Motel & Restaurant New York State
Boston, Massachusetts Tichnor Brothers Unknown Fine
This is an unused linen postcard in fine condition. There's no date, but I suspect it's from the 50's. The caption on the back says it was located on U.S. Route 20 between Thruway Exit 48 & 49, two miles east of Alden NY and 25 miles east of Buffalo. This was one of the many mom and pop motels available during the period. The amenities included radio, TV, central heat (odd that that would even be mentioned in upstate New York!), and Beauty Rest mattresses. The owners were Mr. & Mrs. George C. Folkerth.

Plastichrome Postcard Sharon Villa Motel Route 42 at Route 25 (Sharonville, Ohio)
6 Plastichrome Postcard Sharon Villa Motel Route 42 at Route 25 (Sharonville, Ohio)
Boston ColourPicture Publishers circa 1950's-60's Very good
Believe it or not, this motel is still open from what I can gather. It's located near Cincinnati, Ohio in Sharonville. The card shows a clean, well-cared for place and the Triple AAA logo indicates that it had their approval. The rooms were completely air-conditioned and it was only 12 miles to downtown Cincy. There were 20 rooms with 20 baths and showers, free TV, and adjoining beautiful Sharon Woods where guests could enjoy boating, fishing, and golfing. And there were restaurants nearby too. Card has not been used and will arrive in brand new plastic sleeve.

Postcard Lebanon Tourist Courts (Ohio)
7 Postcard Lebanon Tourist Courts (Ohio)
Chicago Curteich Bio date circa 1950's Fine condition
I very much like postcards featuring hotels which is why I have as many as I do. This one particularly caught my eye because of the rounded lobby and administration building. The rooms themselves are lined up as expected but that front portion makes up for it. The card was never used, but that's probably because there was no room to write a message back home. The left side of the divided back was used to extol the virtues of the motel which included steam heat, circulating ice water, free radio, air-conditioning, city water, tiled baths, modern furnishings, three blocks to restaurants and theatres, heated garages, bomb shelter, AAA recommendation, the evening newspaper, playground, free TV in rooms and owner-operated. It also stated that it was fireproof and "Ohio's Most Beautiful Motel." Card will arrive in a brand new plastc sleeve. It's crisp and bright -- no defect.

Westinghouse Engineer Magazine November 1945 (TV Broadcasting from the Statosphere)
9 Westinghouse Engineer Magazine November 1945 (TV Broadcasting from the Statosphere)
Westinghouse Electric 1945 Volume Five, Number Six soft cover Very good
Very handsome cover design for this trade journal produced by Westinghouse. The back cover shows an image of Skyhooks for Television, a system of high-flying planes to act as television broadcasting and repeater stations, called Stratovision. The first article in the magazine tells the whole story. Other articles cover nuclear engineering, the electric torpedo, a simple single sideband carrier system, a moisture-proof insulation called Fosterite, 1000-KVA powered sleds, and the control of electric furnaces. There's also a section on new technology. Magazine is clean and bright with just a small bit of wear to the top of spine and measures 9"x10-1/2". It's one of those magazines which start at the next page number following the last issue, so I did the math and came up with 31 pages.

Weatherbird Presents Super Circus Great Animal Show (circa 1949-56), Giles, Ken
10 Giles, Ken Weatherbird Presents Super Circus Great Animal Show (circa 1949-56)
U.S.A. Weatherbird Shoes Circa 1949-56 soft cover Fine condition
This is an astonishing find based on Super Circus, one of the earliest TV shows for children. It was sponsored by Weatherbird Shoes and began in Chicago in 1949 and ended in New York in 1956. I was born in 1951 and we had TV by'52, but I have no memory of this show. All I remember is Ding-Dong School with Arlene Francis! This booklet is in amazing condition -- crisp and clean as new with just a small bit of wear to a small section of top back edge. It's a pop-out book of animals with instructions on how to assemble them. There are five pages with all pieces intact. Measures 10" x 10-1/2" and is truly rare.

11 Horwich, Dr. Frances R.; rrenrath, Reinald Jr. I Decided: A Ding Dong School Book 1943
Chicago Rand McNally 1943 Hard cover Good condition Opitz, Marge
This 1943 story by Miss Francis who was actually Dr. Francis R. Horwich who wrote it with Reinald Werrenrath, Jr. Miss Francis was the teacher in Ding Dong School, a morning TV show for children, one of the very first. I remember watching it as a child on a very big TV with a very small screen. Of the two of these I bought today this one i already my favorite. It's a story of little girl who choose something when she and her mom go shopping. But she wanted three things which was not happening. After much trying she decided on one her thing. It's a great choice -- very creative. The book is pristine inside and is quite good with the exception of a few bumped corners. (Box 2 Children)

New York City Straight Arrow Publishers Inc. 1989 July,1989 Soft cover Very good condition 10" x 12"
This is an interesting catalogue which sold clothing on the internet. This is the only one I've ever seen, but it's quite good. Collier's Magazine June 29, 1946 (Russia, Cost of TV, Native American Dance), La Cossitt, Henry (editor)
13 La Cossitt, Henry (editor) Collier's Magazine June 29, 1946 (Russia, Cost of TV, Native American Dance)
Springfield, Ohio Crowell Collier Publishing 1946 Volume 117, No. 26 soft cover Very Good condition
Usually there's a name or two that jumps out of Collier's, but this time no luck. It's still interesting though with a hard look at what Russia was up to in 1949, penned by Frank Gevasi; an article about how much money it was going to cost to make TV mainstream; and Native American dancing by various tribes (beautiful pictures). There's also a really cool ad by Wurlitzer advertising a jukebox that looks like a work of art! As always, this magazine has fiction too. Magazine measures 10-1/4" x 13-3/4" and sports 82 pages. The whole thing is beautiful inside and out with a spine that feels like satin.

Toledo Magazine (Ohio), Lang, Sandy (editor)
14 Lang, Sandy (editor) Toledo Magazine (Ohio)
Toledo, Ohio Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce 1981 Card cover Fine condition
Toledo, Ohio is a nice city, though not as well known perhaps as the three "Cs" -- Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati. I was in a store once and heard a jhopper say, "Toledo is the best keptsecret in the state." It's the home of Jamie Farr who was noted for his role on the TV show M.A.S.H.. It also has the beautiful University of Toledo, the Toledo Art Museum, The Toledo Mud Hens baseball team and much more. In 30-some years things have changed, so it's fun to look back. The magazine is filled with articles and color photos, measures 8-1.2" x 11" and has 136 pages.

15 Leslie Hinderman LH Auction Catalog No. 47: Furniture and Decorative Arts 2007
Chicago Leslie Hinderman Auctioneers 2007 Card cover Fine, As New
I love the graphic design on this front cover. The LH stands for Leslie Hinderman who at one time conducted auctions live on TV at her auction house in Chicago..This auction was all about funiture and decorative arts and was held on Februrary 4-5, 2007. I'm always happy when the previous owner kept the list of realized prices inside the catalog. This one is right behind the front cover and has four pages. The catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11" with a total of 941 lots. The sections are these: 20th Century Decorative Arts including American and French Glass; Fine Silver; English and American Furniture and Decorative Arts; Continental Furniture and Decorative Arts; and Asian Works of Art, Rug and Carpets, and Ethnographic Art. New York City Johnray Puyblishing and Distributing Co. 1975 Presumed first Card cover Good condition 10"x13"
If you're a baby boomer this musical event will bring back the good old days when we were young. The time was 1975 when we loved the songs, such as "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree", Knock Three Times, and more. The photos are great in this program and there are a lot of photos -- 25 in black and white and also gorgeous ones in color. The program is clean, but it does show some minor wear. Even so, it's a memory.
