Arts & Decoration Combined with The Spur March, 1941 (Golf, Policed Dogs, Horses in the Carolinas)
1 Arts & Decoration Combined with The Spur March, 1941 (Golf, Policed Dogs, Horses in the Carolinas)
Stroudsbuerg, PA. Artspur Publications 1941 soft cover Very good condition
This is a marriage of two magazines -- Arts & Decoration and The Spur. The Spur was quite large (I have some issues listed here), but the combined magazine is slimmer and smaller at 10" x 12-1/2" with 50 pages. Subjects include the police dog, horses and equestrian sport in the Carolinas, golf in the Bahamas, valley ranching in Wyoming, American crafts, rugs and mirrored walls.

2 CVA Mountain Rifle & Kit Promotion Materials (1977)
Haddam, Connecticut Connecticut Valley Arms Inc. 1977/78 Fine condition
Wow! This is a really nice find. Inside this envelope are many pristine, unused advertising products. The envelope was never mailed which is likely why everything inside is so perfect. The contents include the following: a letter to the dealer; a 1978 catalog replete with price sheet; a huge wall or window banner measuring 12" x 52"; and a counter card (10-1/2" x 14") affixed with a pad of tear-off coupons. None were used AND we have a second unused pad as well.

Hereford and the Wye Valley Illustrated Guide Book (1922-23)
3 Hereford and the Wye Valley Illustrated Guide Book (1922-23)
London Ward Lock and Co., Limited 1922-23 Seventh Edition Revised Card cover Very good condition
A trip to Wales in the early 1920's provided beautiful hotels, many sites to be seen, and lots of information in a guide such as this one. The guide measures 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" and has several clean, nice fold-out maps. The guide itself has 144 pages, plus 80 pages of ads for things needed for the tourist. The only faults are some wrinkles to the spine and a small tear to a map which I repaired with archival tape which is almost invisible. The guide is also illustrated throughout with black and white photographs.

North Western Lines Baraboo Line Passenger Service Spring 1995
4 North Western Lines Baraboo Line Passenger Service Spring 1995
Elmhurst, Illinois Chicago & North Western Historical Society 1995 Vol. 22, No. 2 soft cover Near fine
This is such a wonderful magazine, a quarterly that has an amazing amount of material in each issue. I love these -- had a bunch of them once when I bought a lot of railroadiana from a collector, but haven't seen one in years. The photograph is excellent, primarily in black and white, but there's color art in this one too (see photo) as well as a time table and technical drawings. Among the topics are A Ride on the Streamliner "Capitol 400", Passenger Service in the Baraboo Valley, Paul Proehl's North Western Art, and more. Magazine measures 8-1/2"x11" and has 89 pristine pages.

Pennsylvania Highways 1930
5 Pennsylvania Highways 1930
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Department of Highways 1930 soft cover Very good
Oversized booklet which appears to have been produced for travelers. There's a great two-page map, lots of historical black and white photographs, and many short articles of interest. It's actually more like a magazine than a booklet and measures 8-3/4"x11-3/4" and has 49 pages. The first article, Highways of Prosperity, was written by John S. Fisher, the then governor of Pennsylvania. Other topics include safety, beauty, bridges, Western Pa. scenery, the Couderspot Pike, the sylvan glades of Pa., military value of highways, historic Cumberland Valley and much more. Clean and tightly bound with just light wear and small circular shadow to front cover from old price sticker.

Route From Liverpool to Great Salt Lake Valley Illustrated Prospectus (1997)
6 Route From Liverpool to Great Salt Lake Valley Illustrated Prospectus (1997)
Bedford, Massachusetts Applewood Books 1997 soft cover Very Good Condition
This handsome item was a preview of the book to come. It's oversized at 9-1/4" x 12" and has nine counted pages including four containing sample pages of text and a black and white steel engraving by Frederick Piercy printed on the reverse side (recto) of the back cover. The image is protected by a crisp clean tissue guard. The idea was to advertise the book, but now it serves as an interesting augmentation to the book itself as well as a commemoration of the sesquicentennial of the Mormon Pioneer Trail.

Gates Mills, Ohio Horse Show Committee 1960 soft cover
This is a rather localized item (Cleveland, Ohio area), but of interest to people who show horses, or have family members who did at one time. It's all marked up inside -- which is a GOOD thing in this instance -- as it provides the ranking of the winners in each race. It also includes a horse show prize list as a separate tri-fold brochure .Both items are very clean and the graphic on the cover of the main program is wonderful.Program measures 6-1/4"x9-1/4" and has 40 pages.
