1 1993 National Fall Shoot September 11-19 (Walter Cline Range Friendship, Indiana)
Friednship, Indiana National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association 1993 soft cover Very good condition
Very nice program which includes the winners from the various matches. The event is held by the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association located in tiny Friendship, Indiana. These matches drew in a lot of people, both bystanders and competitors. The booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 39 pages. It's very clean and somehow managed not to get folded in half. If you were there and lost yours here's a chance to get a replacement. I've never seen these out in the wild before this one!

Louisville, Kentucky Fawcett Publications 1936 Volume XVIII, No. 3 soft cpover Very good condition
Very nice clean magazine with just a small bit of spine strip missing at bottom. Does not impinge on integrity of binding, but I covered it with almost invisible archival tape. The cover is beautiful, a painting of Marlene Dietrich in "The Garden of Allah." Many photos and lots to read. Some of the highlights include "Claudette Colbert's Brother Says ..."; "Four Unseen Women in Bob Taylor's Life"; "Errol Flynn Wild Irishman"; The Marriage of Dick Powell and Joan Blondell; "Rosalind Russell Tells How to Get Rid of a Rival" and "If I Hadn't Been An Actor" by Gary Cooper. Sun Dial Ohio State University Humor Magazine (Christmas 1923)
7 Sun Dial Ohio State University Humor Magazine (Christmas 1923)
Columbus, Ohio Ohio State University 1923 soft cover
If you're an OSU student, or alum, this is a fun souvenir of the old alma mater in the Roaring Twenties. The cover art is charming and is slugged with the caption "Let the Wild Belles Ring Out". The emphasis here is all about humor -- as they say, Sun Dial has been "making OSU laugh since 1911." Great local ads and there's a portrait (see second picture) of basketball coach Harold G. Olsen. Magazine measures 9"x11" and has 44 pages. I repaired two tears -- one at top of spine and one at lower staple using non-browning, virtually invisible archival tape. The format and cover is remarkably similar to the Life Magazine of the day.

The title of this booklet was enough to get my attention, but the perfection of its condition sealed the deal. The booklet is SIGNED on the title page thus, "To George Stevens, My favorite director. Ad Clark." Wild Flower Name Tales (1976), Anderson, Berta
12 Anderson, Berta Wild Flower Name Tales (1976)
Colorado Springs Century One Press 1976 soft copver Near fine anderson Bill (photographer)
Very pretty and very interesting if you're a gardener, or a natural history buff. The booklet is clean and bright and appears unread. The only fault is a small blacked out price on the back and a tiny black spot on the spine. Pages are pristine with no names or writing and very handsome photos including one in color at frontis. This is isn't a field guide -- it's narrative which tells the stories of how the wildflowers of the Rocky Mountain West got their names and their namers. Booklet measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" with 124 pages. Map inside back cover.

16 Cockley, Dave Over the Falls; A Child's Storybook Guide to Chagrin Falls
Cleveland, Ohio The Aschley Press 1981 First Edition Stated soft cover Near Fine condition Ascherman, Herbert Jr. (Photographer)
In keeping with his photo format for kids, Dave Cockley followed up his earlier titles "Cleveland Is A Warm, Fuzzy Place" (the red one) and "Cleveland Is A Wild, Wooly Place" (the green one) and now we have the blue one, "Over the Falls." I've had the others before, but not this one. It's crisp and clean inside and out with no names or writing. The only fault is a few small scratches to front cover next to spine (see photo). The story is fun and the photos spectacular, especially those of the waterfalls. Book measures 7-1/2" x 9" with 29 counted pages, all illustrated with black and white photography.

Weatherbird Presents Super Circus Great Animal Show (circa 1949-56), Giles, Ken
17 Giles, Ken Weatherbird Presents Super Circus Great Animal Show (circa 1949-56)
U.S.A. Weatherbird Shoes Circa 1949-56 soft cover Fine condition
This is an astonishing find based on Super Circus, one of the earliest TV shows for children. It was sponsored by Weatherbird Shoes and began in Chicago in 1949 and ended in New York in 1956. I was born in 1951 and we had TV by'52, but I have no memory of this show. All I remember is Ding-Dong School with Arlene Francis! This booklet is in amazing condition -- crisp and clean as new with just a small bit of wear to a small section of top back edge. It's a pop-out book of animals with instructions on how to assemble them. There are five pages with all pieces intact. Measures 10" x 10-1/2" and is truly rare.

New York City Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. 1960 Card cover Good condition
The Girl Scouts must have packed this book for camp, yet handled it nicely. There are no spills and no spirals broken on the plastic coil. The tabs include these types of recipes: Fireless Food; Kettle and Skillet; Toasting, Broiling, Planking; Baking;A Whole Meal in a Hole; Ember Cooking; Gimmicks and Gadgets; and Edible Wild Food. New York International Magazine Company 1925 Vol. LXXIX, No. 5 soft cover Very good Condition
It must have been a happy day when this issue turned up in the mail. It's like having a book and a magazine all in one. Rex Beach, a popular writer of the day, has a complete novel here titled "Padlock: A Novel About Today's Morals." But what's really good is the list of well-known authors. Theodore Roosevelt tells the story of the journey he and his family took to "unknown Asia." Rebecca West had a provocative title for her submission -- "I, Rebecca West, Regard Marriage With Fear and Horror!" The others include Somerset Maugham's, "The Great Man"; Kathleen Norris's No. VIII in her serial novel The Heart of Juanita. And, lastly, there's a memoir about Wild Bill Hickock and Buffalo Cody, among other childhood heroes. The magazine measures 8-1/2" x 11-3/4" with a whopping 230 pages! The spine strip is still intact and the pages are tightly bound. There is creasing to lower front corner, but I re-enforced it with non-browning on the reverse side archival tape on the reverse side to keep it from snapping off.
