A Brilliant History Jewels at Sotheby's (1978)
1 A Brilliant History Jewels at Sotheby's (1978)
London Sotheby's 1978 Card cover Fine condition
This is an unusual catalog for an auction, even by Sotheby's many handsome examples. This one features a famous person on each page -- the Duchess of Windsor, Princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis, Edna Winston, Elton John, Countess Mona Bismarck, the Count and Countess du Boisrouvray, Ava Gardner, Helene Beaumont, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, and Marlene Dietrich. The jewels are top drawer from the most revered jewelers in the world and each is beautifully described. Catalog is printed on glossy paper throughout. The back paper which appears to be obstructing the photos, are just narrow strips with info on both sides. Catalog is clean and gorgeous with no names or writing. It measures 9" x 10-1/2". Very special. (Advertising)

I'm certain that this is a reprint, but even so, there are virtually no copies out there.I bought this one years ago and stashed it in the closet where I found it this morning. It's very clean and tightly bound and the pictures are superb -- black and white, but beautifully saturated as a gravure. The catalog is clean and tightly bound and measures 6" x 9-1/4" and has 59 pages including technical drawings at back.Former owner wrote this on the reverse side of the cover --"Robbins & Lawrence Building (Now American Precision Museum) Windsor, Vermont. 3 Souvenir Book of the Queen's Dolls' House (1924)
England Oxley and Son 1924 Card cover Very good condition
This is a British famous doll house, much like that of the American one made by Colleen Moore. Both are elegant and beautifully designed and crafted. The owner of this one, however, was Queen Mary (grandmother of William and Harry). The little girl in the second picture was today's Queen Elizabeth. The booklet measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and has 72 pages illustrated with large photographs in black and white. the text is quite good, as detail each room. At the time of this booklet the doll house was on display permanently in Windsor Castle.

5 The New England Historical and Genealogical Register Volume 156, January,2002
Boston New England Historical and Genealogical History 2002 Volume 156, October 2002 Like New Card cover
This book was bought in Connecticut seven years ago. Somehow though it got shelved in my genealogy area without having been listed. The only reason I saw it now was the space next to it for two other genealogies. It's a journal that is published four time a year. The articles in this issue are: the Middlebrook Sisters -- Mother and Mother-in-Law of Michael Wigglesworth; More on the Reyners; English Origin of Edward Garfield of Watertown, Mass.; Martha Ellsworth -- Second Wife of John Osborn of Windsor, CT.; Walter and Mary (Fry) Harris of New London, CT.; and Descendants of "King" Cheseborough of Newport, Rhode Island. Journal is pristine inside and out and measures 6" x 9".

This was a very popular magazine in the 30's and 40's. This issue is especially good as the names of three popular authors of the day immediately popped off the contents page -- Adela Rogers St. John writing about the new sorrows of the Duchess of Windsor; historian, Emil Ludwig, writing about how Franklin Roosevelt started on the road to the White House; and H.G. Wells writing about British Propaganda in the U.S.. There's also a story by Grace Perkins titled The Unbreakable Mrs. Doll. Magazine measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 58 pages.
