Chuilhuly: the George R. Stroemple Collection (1997), Kuspit, Donald; Kanjo, Kathryn
101 Kuspit, Donald; Kanjo, Kathryn Chuilhuly: the George R. Stroemple Collection (1997)
Portland, Oregon Portland Art Museum 1997 Card cover Very good condition
Handsome art catalog designed to showcase the intricate and beautiful glass works made by the artist Chihuly and held as the George T. Stroemple Collection. Thoughout the catalog are many large full color photographs, as well as smaller ones showing how its done. Chihuly designs, but it takes many people to blow the glass and fire up the kiln. The result is astounding. Catalog measures 9" x 11-3/4" and has 127 pristine pages. The catalog is very clean with no names or writing and no spine crease. Only fault is a plain white sticker inside the front cover which I am afraid to disturb. SHIPS FOR $2 in U.S.

LH Auction Catalog No. 47: Furniture and Decorative Arts 2007, Leslie Hinderman
102 Leslie Hinderman LH Auction Catalog No. 47: Furniture and Decorative Arts 2007
Chicago Leslie Hinderman Auctioneers 2007 Card cover Fine, As New
I love the graphic design on this front cover. The LH stands for Leslie Hinderman who at one time conducted auctions live on TV at her auction house in Chicago..This auction was all about funiture and decorative arts and was held on Februrary 4-5, 2007. I'm always happy when the previous owner kept the list of realized prices inside the catalog. This one is right behind the front cover and has four pages. The catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11" with a total of 941 lots. The sections are these: 20th Century Decorative Arts including American and French Glass; Fine Silver; English and American Furniture and Decorative Arts; Continental Furniture and Decorative Arts; and Asian Works of Art, Rug and Carpets, and Ethnographic Art. Color pictures abound throughout

Waltham, Mass. The Miniature Book Society 1996 Card cover Fine condition
Sometimes you find something in the most unlikely place. That's what happned here. I found a lot of material from the Miniature Book Society including five catalogs, two bigger catalogs showing the little books from Dawson's Book Shop in Los Angeles and many leaflets, also from Dawson's. But for right now here's the 1996 catalog which masures 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". Members get one during the annual three day Conclave, always in a new city. The booklet shows the winnin items and also a list includes others who brought a book they made or collected. the winners are pictureed in black and white photographs. There were 42 altogether.

Fabulous! From its beautiful cover to its pages of splendid treasures this isn't your mother's auction catalog. Before the 80's the catalog was much smaller and covered with a drab colored wrapper and small black and white photographs inside. All that's gone now because these catalogs are like coffee table books in full color with great descriptions. They're dream books and bigger too. This one measures 8" x 11" with 242 lots. I am so enamored of them that I bought twelve last Saturday!

New Orleans, Louisiana M.S. Rau Antiques Volume 15, Number 2 Card cover Very good condition

This catalog is all about walking sticks -- decorative canes, erotic canes, weppon canes and cane cabinets. The one other type is the system canes. These have a special use beyond walking. Gainsville et al University Press of Florida 2004 0813024242 / 9780813024240 Hard cover Very good condition Very good dustjacket
This is a fun book which houses a nice brochure for a 2004 exhibition of the Golden Age of Florida souvenirs. The exhibit was titled Souvenirs of Florida -- The Tasteful and the Tacky and ran from Jan. 16 to March 21, 2204. I love this -- some of the items are beautiful and some are so over the top you have to love them anyway! Every items is ibn color and there is much description. Items include these categories -- china, sports, spoons, carved alligators, Harris and Barnhill prints, Orangewood and Mauchline Ware; dolls, glass, jewelry, Olive commons jewelry and porcelain, Silver Springs pottery, and metal and shieldware. The book is very nice with only two defects -- the price has been clipped on the front jacket flap and there is a gift inscription on the front free endpaper. P.S. The yellow at the bottom of the dustjacket is supposed to be that way. It shows on the stock photos used by some sellers.

This was a great magazine -- I was so sorry to see it go. But last week I found a stack of them nestled in a dark corner of a bookstore which was closing shop. this issue covers science fiction and fantasy. Major stories are Kim Stanley Robinson on Mars; Collecting Donald Wandrei; and Harry Potter and Book Collectors Especially interesting is the article "The Internet Follies Revisited." This one iss a look at the goings-on on Amazon, auctions, and Ebay. The author found that the old problems were still there and some new ones ahadrrived. The magazine measures 8-1/2" x 10-1/2" with 72 pages. Clean and bright with no labels.
