123 Hull, Elizabeth The Tempest Theater Souvenir (Vera Zorina, Canada Lee, Arnold Moss
New York Ellison B. Greenstone Unknown Date soft cover Good-plus
Handsome souvenir for the performance of Shakespeare's The Tempest produced by Margaret Webster. It's not a program, but an informative booklet about the play itself, its characters, and the actors and actresses who took on the roles. The inside is printed in blue ink of which tiny little dots of it landed here and there. It had also been folded in half vertically, the bane of most theater programs and souvenirs, but it's lying flat again thanks to the book press. There is also a light dampstain to lower corner at open side of cover, but it's not too visible. The booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 14 pages.

Museum of Appalachia's Annual Tennessee Fall Homecoming 1986, Irwin, John Rice
124 Irwin, John Rice Museum of Appalachia's Annual Tennessee Fall Homecoming 1986
West Chester, Pennsylvania Schiffer Publishing 1986 7th Annual Card cover Very good condition
This is a very handsome booklet published to commemorate the museum's 7th annual Tennessee Fall Homecoming in Norris, Tennessee. It's VERY nice with quality coated paper, lots of black and white photographs, and a full color glossy cover. It's also over-sized at 8-1/2" x 11" and has 88 pristine pages. The only fault is a small abrasion on two pages which were stuck together at one time. I almost didn't even see it. On on of the those pages (see photo) where there is a names written on the outer margin. I thought it would be a signature from one of the three guys in the picture -- Alex Haley, Tennessee Governor Lamar Alexander, and John Rice Irwin, the author. Not only was I wrong, but I can't even decipher it. Anyway, there's a lot to read and a lot look at here. It's all about music, old time mountain and rural activities, Appalachian arts and crafts, writing, art, and food.

The show was billed as a "Musical Love Story", two songs of which were featured "She Didn't Say Yes" and "The Night Was Made for Love". Irene Souvenir Album (Jane Powell, 1973), Knight, Hilary
132 Knight, Hilary Irene Souvenir Album (Jane Powell, 1973)
New York City Gloria Enterprises Inc. 1973 Card cover Very good condition
Very attractive theater souvenir featuring Jane Powell as Irene. The same front cover is used on the show in which Debbie Reynolds played Irene. The cover design was the work of Hilary Knight, who happens to be a man, and is also the illustrator for the famous Eloise books for children, the most notable of which is Eloise at the Plaza. There is no theater named so that one souvenir could be used for all. It's not a program, so it doesn't matter. It's filled with charming stills and bios of the various people in it and around it. Irene is not as common as others of the era, but it's a musical comedy adapted from a book by Hugh Wheeler and Joseph Stein which tiself was an adaptation by Harry Rigby based on the play Irene O'Dare by James Montgomery. Souvenir measures 9" x 12" and has 20 pages counting the info on the reverse sides of cover.

Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey A. Kal Efron Publications 1976 29th Anniversary card cover Very good
Very nice clean program tightly bound with just a few small faults -- a superficial crease to upper corners which lie perfectly flat and are hard to see and a small bit of wear to bottom corner at back. There is no date, but research shows that the original play debuted in 1956, so the 20th anniversary was 1976. This time the stars were Ian Richardson and Christine Andreas.
