Thoroughly Modern Millie Movie Souvenir 1967 (Julie Andrews, Carol Channing)
81 Thoroughly Modern Millie Movie Souvenir 1967 (Julie Andrews, Carol Channing)
California Universal City Studios Inc. 1967 soft cover Fine 1
Not only were Carol Channing and Julie Andrews in this oldie, but so was Mary Tyler Moore. The program is beautiful -- very clean and well preserved by a collector from whom I got several more. The bright color photographs capture the 20's feel, as does the info on the storyline and the decade itself. Measures 8-1/2"x11"

Tricolor Magazine July, 1944 (Harry Bellamann, Alicia Markova)
82 Tricolor Magazine July, 1944 (Harry Bellamann, Alicia Markova)
New York Andre Labarthe 1944 Volume I Number 4 soft cover Very good
This is only the fourth issue of this war-time magazine dedicated to France and French culture, but not without a bit about the U.S. too. There's a subscripton form bound in on the first page which allowed readers to become Charter members by having their subscription begin with the April issue instead of the current one. The magazine is in very good condition (only some foxing to first two pages because of the form)and measures 7"x9-1/2". One of the two things that jumped out at me was Harry Bellamann's "Will Paris Be the Same?" Bellamann was an American novelist, best known for his book, King's Row, which turned into a movie which showcased Ronald Reagan in his best early career performance. The second story to catch my eye was Alicia Markova, an English ballerina and choreographer. Other topics include G.I. Joe Goes to France, The Getapo Hell of Compiegne and much more. The magazine 125 pages.

Revudeville at the Windmill (1959 Theatre Program), A. Van Damm (producer)
86 A. Van Damm (producer) Revudeville at the Windmill (1959 Theatre Program)
London The Windmill Theatre 1959 35th edition soft cover Good-plus
There's no printed date on this risqué booklet issued by the Windmill Theatre of London, but a previous owner penciled 1959 in the white box at top of cover. The booklet measures 5-1/2"x8" and has 50 pages counted by me. There are numerous photographs of the various dances and songs featuring scantily dressed women, plus full page colors photos of nudes. There's also considerable text about the history of the theater. Program is clean and tightly bound with a flat crease along length of outer edge of back cover and small spots of wear to top and bottom of spine.

Your Morrell Meat Dealer Presents the 1952 Morrell Calendar: Songs From Our Favorite Operettas, Balet, Jan (artist)
90 Balet, Jan (artist) Your Morrell Meat Dealer Presents the 1952 Morrell Calendar: Songs From Our Favorite Operettas
Ottumwa, Iowa Home of Radar O'Reilly of M*A*S*H John Morrell & Co. 1952 soft cover Very good
I have seen these calendars online, but never hard one before I bought this one yesterday. Had it been the W.C. Wyatt I would have been over the moon, but I'm happily moon-gazing enough with this one. Not only is the condition excellent, butthe art inside is rich and bright, though you'd never know it from that blah cover. Moral of the story: don't judge the calendar by its cover! If you love operettas this is a treat. Here's the songs depicted and the shows they come from: "The Merry Widow Waltz" from The Merry Widow; "Song of the Vagabond" from The Vagabond King; "One Alone" from The Desert Song; "Sweethearts" from the operetta of the same name; "This Is My Song of Love" from Blossom Time; "Three Little Maids From School" from The Mikado; "Because You're You" from The Red Mill; "Indian Love Call" from Rose Marie; "Deep In My Heart, Dear" from The Student Prince; "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" from Naughty Marietta; "Lover, Come Back to Me from The New Moon; and "Toyland" from Babes in Toyland. Calendar measures 8-1/2"x18-1/2" and retains its metal hanger. Will be shipped flat. OVERSEAS ORDERS welcome, but shipping costs will be higher than stated due to size. You can use the contact button. Let me know where you are and I will quote actual cost.

The Army Air Forces Presents Irving Berlin's All Soldier Musical Show
94 Berlin, Irving The Army Air Forces Presents Irving Berlin's All Soldier Musical Show "This Is the Army" with Personal Appearance of Irving Berlin (1942-43)
No location stated United States Army Special Service Division circa 1942-43 soft cover Good condition
There must have been many of these programs, but it's a bare bones publication with no pictures or art. And yet it tells a great story. Irving Berlin staged the entire show "This is The Army" which had a cast consisting of all soldier actors. It was a musical replete with an orchestra, vaudeville, original songs, and a ladies chorus. It opened on Broadway in the summer of 1942 for a four week run which turned into twelve weeks Eleanor Roosevelt liked it so much she saw it more than once. After that the show hit the "road" for Europe, the Far East, and the Pacific theatre of war. The last show was in February, 1943. There are lots of names here, so if you have an ancestor who might have been in it let me know and I'll look it up. the program measures 6-3/4" x 8" and has six pages.

Bette Midler On Tour: Kiss My Brass! Theater Souvenir 2003-05, Bette Midler
95 Bette Midler Bette Midler On Tour: Kiss My Brass! Theater Souvenir 2003-05
U.S.A. Compilation of Studios (see description) 2003 to 2005 Card cover Very good
This has to be one of the best theater souvenirs ever. It's oversized at 12" square, has card pages, and pops with color and images that shine like firworks. There's not a lot of text, but every word is part of the fun. This was a theater tour which began December 10, 2003 and ended on May 1, 2005. I think this program came from the Clevelnd show in 2004. There were many people on both stage and behind it and also outside entities who worked on it too -- Walt Disney Pictures, Family CommunciationInc. for Mister Rogers footage, Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Paramount Pictures and CBS Broadcasting. he program is clean and attractive with just one defect -- a small blemish to the top left side on the front cover.

96 Boyden, David D.; Babitz, Sol The Violin and Its Techniques in the 18th Century. A Problem of Rythmn in Baroque Music
Urbana, Illinois American String Teachers Association Year Unknown Reprint Card cover Good
I had one of these years ago, so I recognized the partial front cover on this repaired booklet. It must have fallen apart so someone used what was viable of the front cover and made a sturdy new cover. I thought it was likely to have been a librarian, but there are no stamps showing any previous owners. The booklet is quite good, a reprint of two articles from The Music Quarterly Magazine. The text is tight and clean with just a couple points off a few pages at front. Booklet is illustrated nicely.

97 Brechy, Bertolt Souvenir Book The Three Penny Opera; Great Lakes Theater Festival (1989)
Cleveland, Ohio Great Lakes Theater Festival 1989 Card cover Fine condition
This one is very handsome and presents as brand new, but of course is not. I thought it was a program when I bought it, but it's actually a souvenir booklet which tells all about the play itself; its author ,Bertolt Brechy; its composer, Kurt Weill; the history of a "trailblazing musical" which debuted first in 1928 Berlin; and an interview with director Victoria Bussert. Measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 20 counted pages.

98 Brewster, Carly (editor) Views of Paris and Its Festivals: Works of Banque de France and Musee Carnavalet (2010)
Washington D.C. Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System 2010 Card cover Fine condition
There's a lot of reasons to love this exhibition catalog. First of all, the text is in ENGLISH. Secondly, its an exhibition catalog replete with color photographs printed on coated paper. Then there's the fact that it's brand new and has pretty two-tone blue maps printed inside both covers. What's remarkable though is the art depicting fireworks from 1644 which had pyrotechnics for the King's Feast on Place de Palais in August, 1644 to the marriage of Napoleon I and the Archduchess Marie-Louise in 1810. The Booklet measures 8-1/4" x 10-1/2" and has 77 pages. The exhibition spanned October 11, 2010 to January 20, 2011. (Art III)

Rolling Stone Magazine August 6, 1992 (Bruce Springsteen Cover Story), Buffet, Jimmy
99 Buffet, Jimmy Rolling Stone Magazine August 6, 1992 (Bruce Springsteen Cover Story)
New York Wenn, Jan S, 1992 soft cover Very good condition
Open up this issue of Rolling Stone and there's 1992 back again for another turn around the block. The Springsteen interview is of course a highlight, but so is the excerpt from Jimmy Buffet's novel, "Where Is Joe Merchant?" Other people to enjoy include Sinead O'Connor, Sister Souljah, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ross Perot, William M. Gaines 1922-1991 (think Mad Magazine); and even Bill Clinton craving the MTV vote. Magazine measures 10" x 12" and has 80 pages. Very clean. Only other problem is a bit of the mailing label visible at the bottom of the front cover. It fell off before I got the magazine, but I'm reluctant to try removing what's left. WILL SHIP FOR $2 in U.S,
