Cleveland Official Souvenir of the Thirty-Fifth National Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic 1911
6 Cleveland Official Souvenir of the Thirty-Fifth National Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic 1911
Cleveland E.W. Doty 1901 Soft cover Good
Wonderful souvenir of the encampment of the Grand Old Army in Cleveland in September, 1911. The program is clean and tightly bound, but does have some faults which include small tears to the yapped edges, a slight vertical crease to a few front pages and soil in a distinct grid pattern to back cover. This is not an oil-based stain, as it does not appear on the reverse side. The binding is tight thanks to two staples, but I wonder if at one time it was bound with thread, as there are three very tiny holes through the entire spine. At any rate, the pages are clean as a whistle and there are 92 of them. Coated paper and many black and white photographs enhance the text which is likewise plentiful. A significant item for collectors of Cleveland history, Grand Army of the Republic, or military. Measures 7"x10-1/2"

Light Space Time: Michelson-Morley Centennial Celebration 1987 Cleveland, Ohio
14 Light Space Time: Michelson-Morley Centennial Celebration 1987 Cleveland, Ohio
Cleveland, Ohio Case Western Reserve University 1987 Card cover Very good condition
This is an interesting find -- a booklet which discusses the one hundredth anniversary of the Michelson-Morley Experiment, but is also a commemorative program. The work of Albert Abraham Michelson and Edward Williams Morley laid the path into modern physics. Later, a young Albert Einstein developed the resolution to the puzzle posed by the experiment. In 1905 he published the paper that outlined his Theory of Relativity. The booklet includes congratulatory letters at the front, including one from President Ronald Reagan, followed by the events to mark the commemoration and photographs and information about Michelson and Morley's project. The booklet measures 8" x 11-1/2" and has 42 pages printed on quality coated paper.

Logan Centennial Souvenir Book 1816-1916 (Hocking County, Ohio Reprint 1997)
15 Logan Centennial Souvenir Book 1816-1916 (Hocking County, Ohio Reprint 1997)
Logan, Ohio Artisan Mall; Hocking County Historical Society 1990 Reprint soft cover Good condition
I bought this a couple years ago, but didn't list it because I was uncertain about the cording which binds it. Is it the real thing, or is it not? I'm inclined to say no and yet I still can't find a comparable. I've looked countless times, but it never comes up. The holes accomodate the thick cording easily and there is no sign of enlargment, so here it is! The booklet measures 9-3/4" x 12-1/2" with 64 pages printed on quality coated paper. Many very good photos and lots of information about the small town of Logan, Ohio located in Hocking County. Very handsome.

Logan County Bicentennial Photo Album (Ohio -- Extra Ephemera Laid-in)
16 Logan County Bicentennial Photo Album (Ohio -- Extra Ephemera Laid-in)
Logan County, Ohio Logan County Historical Society 1976 soft cover Fine
Oddly, here is no date on this pristine booklet, but opening remarks show that it coincided with the 200th anniversary of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence which places it in 1976. Laid-in is a brochure which is a second clue since it commemorates the 1976 designation of East Court Avenue, in Bellefontaine, Ohio as a National Historical Civil Engineering Landmark. It seems that this small town was the first place in the country to have a road paved with concrete. The booklet itself is filled with historic pictures and captions. 72 crisp, clean pages.

National Biscuit Company Luncheon Celebrating New Bakeries (Feb. 20, 1904)
17 National Biscuit Company Luncheon Celebrating New Bakeries (Feb. 20, 1904)
New York City National Biscuit Company 1904 Soft cover Good condition
This is a very scarce item, expensively created. It was published for those attending a luncheon in celebration of the National Biscuit Company's new bakeries at its buildings on 15th St. and 10th Ave. New York City. Opening page and a subsequent one shows gold and red design plus a color picture at back showing a little boy in a yellow raincoat clutching a box of crackers. Text is on heavy paper and includes the speeches of dignitaries. Measures 6-1'2" x 9-3/4" with many unnumbered pages. The inside is very clean but does show faint dampstaining to top margin of pages, a stain to front cover, a repair to lower spine which seems to be holding, and a chip to bottom spine and to lower edge. Overall a very good collectible rarely seen. (Bus.)

New York City Harbor Festival 1977
18 New York City Harbor Festival 1977
New York City Intercom Interrelated Communcations 1977 soft cover Very good condition
I had one of these years ago and it had the same strike-out on the upper left front cover over the original price. I wonder if it's come back to me. Anyway, this is a gorgeous souvenir with BLUE pages. I know they don't look like it in the pictures, but they really are blue. There's much to read in this booklet-- first of all, the itinerary, and then on to the history and a look at the individual ships, plus info on the the Sun-Fish Sail-In and activities such as the New York Times Sail Regatta and the Shriners coming in on the water. Lots of photographs throughout too. The program measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 56 pages, plus back matter. It's a beauty.

Oberlin College Baccalaureate & Commencement 1942 (4 items)
20 Oberlin College Baccalaureate & Commencement 1942 (4 items)
Oberlin, Ohio Oberlin College 1942 sebayoft cover Very good
How nice to find programs for both the 1942 Baccalaureate AND Commencement for the Class of 1942 at Ohio's Oberlin College. What's even nicer is the fact that this offering also includes the Commencement arrangements, plus a flyer for the Commencement Concert by the A Capella Choir and the Conservatory Orchestra. Oberlin was, and is, lauded for its fine conservatory. Everything is clean and nice aside from a little toning to the right edge of the choir leaflet and two small spots on the cover of the Baccalaureate program. 1942 marked the 109th anniversary of the college. Both events were held at Finney Memorial Chapel. The arrangement booklet with the art on the cover has a name at the top, but I couldn't find her amongst the graduates. If you are looking for a specific name and aren't sure it's there, hit the contact button and I'll be happy to check it out for you.
