1964 Official Program 12th Annual Cumberland Sports Car Races
1 1964 Official Program 12th Annual Cumberland Sports Car Races
U.S.A. Steel Cities Region Sports Car Club of America Inc. 1964 soft cover Very good condition
Very nice program for the races held at the Cumberland Municipal Airport May, 15, 16, 17, 1964. The event included the national championship and regional races. Previous owner penciled in notes for some races which could be easily removed, but you may not want to, as it shows who won etc. Program measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 20 pages including a blank one for notes which is unused. Includes auto related advertising. Faults are these: a tear to bottom of spine which I repaired with non-browning archival tape on both sides and a small stain to one page.

1972 Cadillac Owner's Manual in Original Plastic Case (With Emissions Booklet)
2 1972 Cadillac Owner's Manual in Original Plastic Case (With Emissions Booklet)
Detroit. Michigan Cadillac Motors 1972 soft cover Good 1
If you're restoring an old car there's nothing like the original manual to tuck into the glove compartment. Here we have not only the manual, but also the accompanying booklet about the car's emission control systems and their required maintenance and warranty information. Both measure 5" tall by 8" long and fit into their original blue plastic holder. The owner's manual shows some rubbing to blue cover and a small stain to side of text block which can be seen on the very edge of some pages inside. The emissions book is quite good with a light ring stain from a glass at back. Overall, both are still quite respectable. Manual has 84 pages and is illustrated with black and white photos, charts, and drawings. The emissions booklet has 15 pages and is illustrated with drawings.

Auto-Lite Spark Plugs Johnnie Plug-Chek Toledo,Ohio 1940's
3 Auto-Lite Spark Plugs Johnnie Plug-Chek Toledo,Ohio 1940's
Toledo, Ohio Auto-Lite Spark Plugs mid-1940's Very Good
Fun advertising item from the Auto-Lite Spark Plug Company of Toledo, Ohio. Not only was it useful, but its message came from its own little character, Johnnie Plug-Chek, who was somewhat iconic in his day. The plug chek pulls out at both ends with addition info. when closed it measures 3" wide and 7-1/2" long, but when fully extended measures 11-1/2". What's really cool is the fact that it retains its original envelope. There's no date, but the clue that helps date it is this statement: "Recommended setting for passenger cars to 1946 inclusive."

6 Blackhawk Collection Presents Hershey '97 Exposition Sale Catalog (1997)
Danville, California; Hershey, PA. Blackhawk Collection 1997 October 8-11, 1997 Card cover Fine condition
Stunning catalog filled with vintage cars which were the finest of their time and remain so today. Every page is in color printed on quality coated paper. Inside the catalog is a partial list of the cars which were to be sold. The sale doesn't appear to be an auction though, as they called it an exhibition sale. The oldest cars on the partial list were a 1929 Cadillac Dual Cowl Paeton and a 1929 Duesenberg J. Bohman & Schwartz Berline. The catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 14 lavish pages.

Chevrolet For 1942
7 Chevrolet For 1942
Detroit, Michigan Chevrolet Division of General Motors 1942 soft cover Good condition
Wow! What a great cover. But pretty though it is the date tells the story. WWII began in 1939 and would not end until 1945. Given such hard times -- food was rationed, as was gasoline, the country needed metal, gold, rubber and also other commodities for the war effort. America asked its citizens to help with money by buying Victory bonds. The catalog is really cool though -- it measures 5-1.2" tall and 12-1.4" across. Be sure to see the last photo which shows the engine. Catalog is clean and bright with no the features offered in the chassis. There's a tiny bit of edge wear at random spots to front cover and a crease to front cover which I have flattened with an iron.

Grand Prix of the United States at Watkins Glen October 1-2-3, 1965 Program
9 Grand Prix of the United States at Watkins Glen October 1-2-3, 1965 Program
Watkins Glen, New York Watkins Glen Grand Prix Corporation 1965 soft cover Very good
Love racing? This program derives from a difficult race with lots of rain, fog, and cold air with only intermittent sun. The British RULED, claiming four out of five spots with only one American, Dan Gurney, in the top five at fourth place and 19 points. Jim Clark of the UK at 54 points won the day. The program is great -- really clean and nice with an additional sheet of Latest Information news laid-in. Only fault is some rubbing at front (see photo). Great action photos in black and white and related ads.

Very nice, extensive travel guide to seeing Quebec by car. In addition to photos to entice travelers, there's much info on 55 routes, each with its own special charms. There are also two fold-out maps, both in excellent condition. The smaller one is of Quebec, the larger one shows the individual drives the driver can take. Guide measures 6" x 9" and has 294 pages. Book is tightly bound with only defect being some light creasing to corners -- overall it's nice. How To Decorate Halls, Booths and Automobiles (1927)
11 How To Decorate Halls, Booths and Automobiles (1927)
Framingham, Massachusetts Dennison Manufacturing Company 1927 later printing Soft over Fine condition
Crepe paper has long been synonymous with life's festive events and no one knew the business as well as the Dennison Manufacturing Company which set up shop in Framingham in 1897. Although the company merged with Avery in 1990, there was a time when the railroad that ran in front of its red brick buildings groaned under a heavy load of crepe paper in a rainbow of colors. This booklet uses strong graphic drawings to unveil a a parade of great ideas. It's clean and bright inside and out with no names or writing. Measures 5-3/4" x 8-1/4 and has 36 pages.

Owner Manual Your 1951 Oldsmobile(Related ephemera Laid-in)
12 Owner Manual Your 1951 Oldsmobile(Related ephemera Laid-in)
Lansing, Michigan Oldmosbile Division, General Motors 1951 soft cover Good
There's some spotting to first two pages and and back cover shows a couple of the same as well as some residual soil. Normally I wouldn't have bought it, but the manual is tightly bound and quite good inside. But the best part is that it comes with extra goodies. Laid-in in a large folded two-sided sheet which tells you how to operate your Hydra-matic Drive, a pink paper titled Order Subject to Present and Future Government Regulations, AND the original bill of sale for the car. The car was sold to a man from Cleveland on March 30, 1951, an Oldsmobile 98 Deluxe Convertible coupe with this list of options: deluxe conditioner.air herter, deluxe radio, back-up lights, wheel discs, an accessory group (underhood light, glove compartment light, exhaust extention etc.), alcohol and an undercoat and glaze. The car and its upgrades priced out at $3414.65 and was purchased from Michael's Oldsmobile Co. on St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland.

This is an amazing offering, all purchased from the same collector, If you love cars, and especially the Porsche Boxster, this is a piece of automotive heaven. Everything is quality printed and illustrated in color. What we have here is the main booklet which measures 6"x9" and has 84 color illustrated pages. The second largest booklet in terms of page numbers (56 pages) shows the cars to their maximum. The other two measure about the same, but are smaller in content. The one without a title has 15 pages and folds out at back to show an array of color for the body, carpet and upholstery. Tequipment is a card fold-out showing accessories. There is almost a beautiful card showing the car with no message inside. Lastly, we have the results of three test drives conducted by AutoWeek, Road & Track, and Car and Driver. Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum of the Western Reserve Historical Society together with property of various owners. There were 69 cars, each pictured in full color and printed on quality glossy paper with much description and history. The bidding page was not used and there is a booklet laid in titled "Sotheby's At Hendon Royal Air Force Museum.

Studebaker Cars Catalog Big-Six and Special-Six Models (1924)
18 Studebaker Cars Catalog Big-Six and Special-Six Models (1924)
South Bend,Indiana. Detroit, Michigan. Canada. The Studebaker Corporation of America 1924 Card cover Very good condition
What an elegant presentation for the 1924 models of Studebaker cars. Beautiful photography and detailed descriptions of all models. The pages are made of quality coated paper and look very attractive with a light green background and ruled edges. The catalog measures 7-3/4" x 10-3/4" and has 28 pages. The green cover has embossed gilt printing which adds to the beauty. The only defect is a light dampstain to lower edges at front and back of ark green cover. It's very subtle -- I didn't notice until I was photographing. It's very nice altogether with no problem to pages which are pristine.

Studebaker The New Proof Book Studebaker Makers of Motor Cars (1915)
20 Studebaker The New Proof Book Studebaker Makers of Motor Cars (1915)
Detroit, Michiganl south Bend, Indiana SrudebakerCorporation of America 1915 Soft cover Good condition
This 1915 booklet measures 5-1/4" x 10-1/4" until you open it up -- and that's where it gets interesting. The pages are folded vertically, but open them and there are two panels with text and photographs on both side of all 28. The condition is good, though not perfect. The lower margin of the front cover shows a small amount of foxing and there is light foxing to the last page, likely because it was up against the reverse side of the cover. Oddly, it didn't happen to the front one. The text here is generous and there are wonderful photographs, especially those which show workers in the factories. There's also a history of the company to this point. If you're an Ohioan you might find it interesting that John Studebaker came to Ashland, Ohio.
