1993 National Fall Shoot September 11-19 (Walter Cline Range Friendship, Indiana)
1 1993 National Fall Shoot September 11-19 (Walter Cline Range Friendship, Indiana)
Friednship, Indiana National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association 1993 soft cover Very good condition
Very nice program which includes the winners from the various matches. The event is held by the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association located in tiny Friendship, Indiana. These matches drew in a lot of people, both bystanders and competitors. The booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 39 pages. It's very clean and somehow managed not to get folded in half. If you were there and lost yours here's a chance to get a replacement. I've never seen these out in the wild before this one!

24 Success Articles From American Preservation Magazines
2 24 Success Articles From American Preservation Magazines
U.S.A. American Preservation Unknown date Unknown edition Disbound Articles Very Good Condition
I found these disbound articles in a box of Architectual Review Magazines which I bought at auction. I almost tossed them out until I realized how worthy they are. Each of the 24 focuses on a particular area within a state located anywhere in the country. They all derived from American Preservation magazine, so the color photographs are stunning. Each article is pretty long with many images. I wish I had more room to show them. Areas are these: New Orleans Lower Garden District; Providence, Rhode Island; Salem Massachusetts; Eutaw, Alabama's Greek Revival Architecture; Galveston, Texas; Mizner's Eden Palm Beach's Flamboyant Architecture; Brownsville, Texas; Waterford, Virginia; Helena, Montana; Columbus, Georgia; Madison, Indiana; Eureka Springs, Arkansas; Key West, Florida; Jacksonville, Oregon; Mt. Auburn in Cincinnati, Ohio; Manchester area of Pittsburgh; Savannah, Georgia; Powelton Village, Philadelphia; Saratoga Springs, New York; Crested Butte in the Rocky Mts.; Detroit's Woodward East; Oakland cemetery; Galena, Illinois and Bay View, A Summer Resort in Michigan. All are clean and stapled. Will still ship for $2 media in the U.S. as always.

Chesterfield, Indiana Camp Chesterfield 1986 soft cover Very Good
Very nice, clean booklet -- rather hard to find. No names or writing, no spine crease. Poem about the Camp by Wanda Day laid-in. Illustrated with historic photographs throughout. A fascinating look at one camp and how it reflected the exponential popularity and growth of Spiritualism, which found its roots in both the Society of Friends and the Shakers. 95 pages.

4 Color Postcard Main Building Tri State College Angola, Indiana (1908)
Angola, Indiana Shank & Son 1908 Very good
Very handsome postcard, a vertical color view of the main building and tower of Tri State College Angola,Indiana. The card is clearly postmarked Angola,Indiana Jan 11, 1908. It was sent to Miss Georgie Sumner of Bayard, Ohio in Columbiana County. I can't read the sender's last name -- the first is Lewis and he was from Angola. There is no message to speak of except the word Exchange. Card shows a small wear at spots along bottom edge, but is overall quite nice. It will arrive in a plastic sleeve.

New Rice Stadium, Souvenir Program (Elkhart High School, Elkhart, Indiana September 29, 1939)
6 New Rice Stadium, Souvenir Program (Elkhart High School, Elkhart, Indiana September 29, 1939)
Elkhart, Indiana Elkhart High school 1939 soft cover Very good
Very nice souvenir gently kept by previous owner. No real defect of note and clean inside and out. At the time of publication (1939) this was considered "the finest prep athletic plant in Indiana and the Midwest." The program was distributed on September 29, 1939 when Elkhart played La Porte and won the first game in the new stadium. The program measures 6" x9" and has 16 pages. An interior photograph shows six men, all school officials (Fred Lindquist, Dr. Leonard F. Swihart, Alfred L. Smith, Harold H. Church, Ira H. Church and Fred J. Anderson). There's also a photo showing the coaching staff, one of workers tearing down the old bleachers, a panoramic shot of the stadium which cost $120,000 and could accomodate 6500 fans, and the Elkhart High School championship band. Includes roster of both teams in addition to satidium info.

Photograph Taylorsville, Indiana Family On the Porch 1909
7 Photograph Taylorsville, Indiana Family On the Porch 1909
Taylorsville, Indiana Unknown photographer 1909 Hard backing
This is a remarkably sharp photo with great contrast. The only reason I know that it was a warm day in 1909 Taylorsville,Indiana is the pencilled date and place on the back. There is much here to tell you such things as the homeowner's appreciation of decorative pots of flowers and their liking of rocking chairs. Even the little boy is rocking on a rocking horse. But the thing I noticed first was the young man off to the left of the porch. If you look at the young lady in the white dress ON the porch you can see she is not pleased with him. He's not even looking at her, nor is he engaging with the whole group. The photo was mounted on the gray board used to mount ohotographs at the turn of the century, but there is evidence here that someone cut it down to just the photo. The two lower corners lost the top layer of paper also, so to keep it from deteriorating I repaired it with grey art paper (see second photo). The image measures 7-3/4" x 9-3/4".

Postcard Fire Department Headquarters, Indianapolis, Ind.
8 Postcard Fire Department Headquarters, Indianapolis, Ind.
Indianapolis, Indiana Majestic Publishing Company circa early 1900's Good-plus condition
What a colorful and interesting scene this is. Not only does it show a handsome fire station, but also vehicles, fire fighters, and the horse power that fueled the machinery. The card shows a tiny bit of corner wear and writing on divided back. It was never sent, but it has been written on across the dividing line with no attempt at an address. The writing is a little hard to read, but the gist of it is the writer was busy with company and likes the recipient's choice of cards. Nothing too exciting there, but the picture at the front is great. Card will arrive in a brand new plastic sleeve.

The Centennial Book; Official Program of the Ceremonies and Pageant in Celebration of the Centennial of Fountain County at Covington, Indiana 1926
12 The Centennial Book; Official Program of the Ceremonies and Pageant in Celebration of the Centennial of Fountain County at Covington, Indiana 1926
Covington, Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution 1926 Soft cover Very Good
The graphic cover of this program catches the eye! Very handsome and in nice condition too. There's only a few small faults, being a tiny loss of paper to tail of spine. a small chip to top front corner next to spine and a minor bit of soiling to very edge at bottom of title and frontis pages. Measures 8"x10-1/2" and is illustrated throughout with photographs and maps. Much history, as well as the program of events and the script of the pageant staged in honor of the festivities. Unpaginated, but it's pretty hefty for a program.

Wove in Indiana and Fancy Weaving Jacquard Coverlets By Indiana Weavers (two exhibition catalogs)
13 Wove in Indiana and Fancy Weaving Jacquard Coverlets By Indiana Weavers (two exhibition catalogs)
Indiana Conner Prairie Pioneer Settlement 1978 & 1981 soft cover Very good
I am delighted to have found these! I have about seven Jacquard coverlets, so was quite charmed when I found them. These are two very nice, clean exhibit catalogs measuring 8" x 11", both featuring the collection of John and Janet Simmermaker of Winnemac, Indiana. Both catalogs were printed to accompany displays at the Conner Prairie Pioneer Settlement. Wove in Indiana was for the December 1978 event. It has 28 counted pages with beautiful photos printed in blue ink, a common color used for Jacquard coverlets which are the product of a loom that used a series of cards (like IBM cards) to make the distinctive pictorial designs. The second catalog, Fancy Weaving, accompanied a display in 1981. This one has less pages (13) and less photos, but describes 78 coverlets in the collection. Information about the craft itself is in the larger book.

Otto Ping: Photographer of Brown County, Indiana (1994), Hartley, Douaglas W,
16 Hartley, Douaglas W, Otto Ping: Photographer of Brown County, Indiana (1994)
Indianapolis, Indiana Indiana Historical Society 1994 card cover
Very nice clean booklet extolling the interesting photographs of Otto Ping, a Brown County citizen who was no photographer, nor artist, nor technician -- he just liked to take pictures. Critics think he had numerous problems with his pohotography and yet in the 1960's when Ping was no longer a shutterbug he worked with Professor Hartley who encouraged him to hang on to his enire life's work, which Ping did.The essay in front tells more about him and is followed by a colelction of his best sepia photographs enchanced with descriptions. Book measures 8-1/2" x 10" with 94 pages plus a bibliography. (Hist. III)

Announcement of the Northern Indiana School of Pharmacy Session 1896-97, No author Stated
19 No author Stated Announcement of the Northern Indiana School of Pharmacy Session 1896-97
Valparaiso, Indiana northern Indiana Normal School 1896 Soft cover Good
This booklet is not often seen. It measures 5-3/4" x 8-3/4" and has 26 pages. The beauty of it is the blue illustrations throughout, all of which are large photos, 12 in all. The booklet shows creasing to lower corner of cover and for a few pages inside. There's also a small tear at the bottom of each page. The first page has a small square of paper over the tear, but it doesn't show on the back -- just archival tape. I think the previous owner tried glue first which may have required the patch. The rest of the pages have archival tape on both sides (see photo). There are great pictures of inside the classrooms plus much information on what it meant to work for this degree in the late 1890's. The odd thing is a page with tiny photos of the graduates and even tinier names. I could read these only: W.C. Canfield, J.C. Buckler, E.G. Fishburn, C.A. Bailey, J.W. Jenson,, M.S. Basnett, E.E. McRill and. J.F. Smith.. The tex is easily read, but to get those names you need a better magnifying glass than I have.
