1976 Bicentennial Cotillion Ball of Czechs and Slovaks Program (Cleveland, Ohio)
1 1976 Bicentennial Cotillion Ball of Czechs and Slovaks Program (Cleveland, Ohio)
Cleveland, Ohio Czech and Slovak Cotillion Ball Committee 1976 card cover Very Good condition
Very nice booklet for an event which took place at the Sheraton Cleveland Hotel, Saturday, February 21, 1976. The booklet measures 5-1/2" tall and 8" wide with 68 clean tightly bound pages. The program lists a social hour, followed by dinner, a performance by "Jump", a Modern Dance Club from Chicago, and then dancing for everyone to Paul Burton's Orchestra. There are also photos and bios of the debutantes of which there were eight, plus photos of members of the Chicago Modern Dance Club. The rest of the booklet covers facts about various Czech and Slovak organizations and a gallery of Czech and Slovak people who excelled in many disciplines to contribute to the United States of America. Many local ads at back.

1978 Calendar Dance Magazine Quotes the Greats (School of Cleveland Ballet)
2 1978 Calendar Dance Magazine Quotes the Greats (School of Cleveland Ballet)
New York City Dance Magazine 1977 soft cover Fine Condition
This was an annual calendar designed and published by Dance Magazine for distribution to entities such as the School of Cleveland Ballet which could have their name printed on the final page for their own advertising. I have seen these before, but always missing at least one page. This one has all 12 and all are pristine. Each month shows a photo of a famous dancer along with a quote from each. The 1978 calendar aimed the spotlight on Alexandra Danilova, Natalia Makorova, Peter Martins, Edward Vilella, Vaslav Nijinsky, Louis Peres, Cynthia Gregory, Margot Fonteyn, Erik Bruhn, Martha Graham, Mikail Baryshnikov, and Anna Pavlova. Measures 4" x 8-3.4"

25th Independence Day Dance North American Association of Venezuela 1966 (program)
3 25th Independence Day Dance North American Association of Venezuela 1966 (program)
The North American Association of Venezuela 1966 soft cover Good
Surprisingly scarce program published in honor of the 25th Independence Day Dance hosted by the North American Association of Venezuela. Clearly, this was a big event, as the ads in the program are largely national -- Chrysler has the back cover and Helena Rubenstein cosmetics has the flip side. Others inside include Ponds, Sears, Chevrolet, Elizabeth Arden and many more. The program is large at 9"x12" and has much information about the event itself, the liberation of Venezuela, and the ties that bind Venezuela to the United States. Illustrated with black and white photographs. The program is clean and tightly bound, but does show light foxing to outer edge of front cover and also at first two pages. Otherwise very nice. Slight tobacco scent.

Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo Program (1950)
4 Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo Program (1950)
Monte Carlo Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo 1950 Card cover Good condition
Were it not for some light foxing to top edge of front cover and a few spots to plain back cover this would be a beauty. It's beautiful inside with many photographs. The Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo opened in 1937 and closed in 1968. Inside the program is a leaflet with a program for Paquita, the Nutcracker, and Prince Igor. Principle dancers include Alexandra Danilova, Frederic Franklin, Leon Danielian, Nathalie Oleg Tupine, Roman Jasensky, Nina Novak, Gertrude Tyven, Krassovska Yvonne Chouteau and Robert Lindgren. There are also other dancers pictured. Program measures 9" x 12" and though unpaginated, is quite ample. There is also a center section printed on rose colored paper explaining the Repertoire. there's also a lovely laid-in photo of Nathalie Krassovska.

C& C Originals Square Dance Dress 114 Size 6-8-10 (Uncut)
5 C& C Originals Square Dance Dress 114 Size 6-8-10 (Uncut)
Harrison, Arkansas C & C Unknown Very good
I don't buy too many patterns, but every once in awhile ... This one is for a square dance dress with a fancy bodice that flows down to the eight gore skirt. The instructions and pattern pieces are crisp and unused. They also retain their factory folds. The sizes and measurements are: Size Six 30'1/2, 23, 32-1/2"; Sixe Eight 31-1/2". 24, 33-1/2"; and Size 10 32-1/2",25,34-1/2". Original plastic bag was torn, so I have replaced it with a new heavy gauge one. Only visible fault is a notation about a dance coming up written by former owner at top of cover -- visible in photo one. ORDERS OUTSIDE U.S. WELCOME. Please contact me with destination before ordering so I can quote actual shipping cost.

Cleveland Ballet Premiere Season The State Theatre 1984-85 (Souvenir)
6 Cleveland Ballet Premiere Season The State Theatre 1984-85 (Souvenir)
Cleveland, Ohio Cleveland Ballet Council 1984 Card cover Fine condition
Beautiful from its shiny metallic toe shoe on the cover to its 32 full-color pages of dancer photographs and bios. This is not a program, it's a souvenir of the 1984-85 season of the Cleveland Ballet. How impossible it is to believe that all these young dancers are 30 years older now! The souvenir is truly that -- a keepsake of a long gone season of magic Booklet is crisp and clean and beautifully cared for.

Earl Carroll Theatre New York Program 1928 (W.C. Fields)
7 Earl Carroll Theatre New York Program 1928 (W.C. Fields)
New York City Earl Carroll Theatre 1928 soft cover Very good
It's relatively easier to find Earl Carroll ephemera from his California night club days than it is from his earlier NYC theatre. But here we have a program from his seventh Follies, this time featuring the famous W.C. Fields. The program has very nice ads and lot of photos of the performers including a large picture of Fields. What's also fun is a close-up article about Carroll's eccentricities, of which there were many! The program measures 9"x12" and has 25 pristine pages. Nice quality item, clean and tightly bound with just a tiny abrasion to front cover.

Jules Podell's Copacabana Advertising Folder (1950's)
8 Jules Podell's Copacabana Advertising Folder (1950's)
New York City Jules Podell No sate circa 1950's Very good condition
Do you hear strains of Barry Manilow warbling "At the Copa, Copacabana ..."? Yes, this Copa is THAT Copa. I must say though that I'm surprised at the rather folksy look of this advertising mailer. The Copacabana, after all, was noted for its sparkly, pink haired Copa Girls. They're here all right, but this time in a "gay review" titled How To Parry A Millionaire starring Betty & Jean Kean with Norman Brooks, The Dunhills, Jonathan Lucas and Herb Fields. This, too surprises me because everybody who was anybody sang there -- Harry Bellefonte, Peggy Lee, Danny Thomas, Dean Martin etc. etc.. Also surprising is the Brazilian atmosphere paired with Chinese cuisine! Very interesting mix. Mailer closes to 5-1/2" x 7" and opens to 11" with a two page spread inside. Nice collectible from an iconic club. There is no date, but Michael Durso's orchestra was there all through the 50's.

Akron, Ohio Lambda Chi Alpha: Gamma-Alpha Zeta 1946, 1950 soft cover Good
Here we have two vintage items from Lambda Chi Alpha: Gamma-Alpha Zeta of Akron,Ohio. The oldest item is an unused dance card from 1946-- no pencil, but has cording with a long loop for carrying. The event was a Winter Formal held at the Sieberling Country Club November 30, 1946. Cover is made of leather and measures 3"x4". The social committee members were Donn Speegal, David Frost, Dick Ruth, Jack Lineard and Leonard Bitzel. Music was provided by Marion Miller's Orchestra. The second item is a 1950 Official Directory of Alumni of Gamma Alpha Zeta, Alumni From Other Zetas (Brothers in Akron Area), and Active Members of Gamma Alpha. Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts Inc. (Designed by Cipe Peneles 1964)
10 Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts Inc. (Designed by Cipe Peneles 1964)
New York City Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts Inc. 1964 First edition card cover Very good condition Good-plus dustjacket
This is a hard item to find. I've never had one before, but I bought it years ago and it has been in a box for at least ten years. It's very nice, clean, and tightly bound with a purple dust jacket over a white card cover. The size is unique also, measuring 5" across and 11-1/2" tall and has 125 pages with many beautiful black and white photographs taken by several photographers. There is also a a lengthy text which explains the goals for the center, the history of the Lincoln Center concept, the constituent members for the center, the Lincoln fund for education and creative artistic advancement, and Lincoln Center -- the past is prelude. At the back there is much general information. The photographs capture performances, details of the interior, and beautiful pictures of the exterior.

New York City Ballet Balanchine After Forty Years
11 New York City Ballet Balanchine After Forty Years
New York Program Publishing Company Pre-1983 Card cover Good condition
The beautiful cover caught my eye, as did the plentiful photos of the dancers. This is not a program for a production. It's more of book celebrating 40 years of Balanchine's accomplishments and sponsored by the City Center of Music and Drama. The essay at the front is about the previous forty years of Balanchine's life as both a dancer and a director, but there is also no date. At first I thought it was 1988 because Balanchine took on the New York City Ballet in 1948. But I then noticed that he was still listed as a director. He died in 1983. Booklet measures 9" x 12" and has 41 counted pages, some of which described past performances. The booklet is clean and tightly bound showing a few isolated areas of edge wear to cover and a scratch to front cover and one on reverse side. Otherwise quite nice.

Playbill Album New York Theater Programs (1968-80's)
12 Playbill Album New York Theater Programs (1968-80's)
New York Playbill 1968-80's Very good condition Hard cover binder; soft cover programs Very good condition
I saw the word Playbill on the spine of the binder and had to have it, especially when I saw that the shows were older, from 1968 to the 80's. There are 14 programs in all, most of which are Playbills from the various New York City Broadway theaters, but there's also a couple from community theaters close by but outside the city, including Jones Beach. Some programs have ticket stubs stapled to them which is always a bonus. New York shows include The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie; Plaza Suite; 1776; Company; Sleuth; No, No Nanette; Annie; Peter Pan and more. Very nice find for a theater buff.

Postcard The Pier Dance Hall Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio (1930's)
13 Postcard The Pier Dance Hall Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio (1930's)
Chicago T.C. Company 1930's Very good
Nice color postcard which shows the fabulous Pier Dance Hall located on the shores of Lake Erie. In its day Geneva-on-the-Lake was a popular resort, the first of its kind in Ohio. In this daytime exterior view it's hard to imagine that the Big Band Era waited in the wings, but in the 40's it came to The Pier. The card is very nicely kept and was postmarked -- the first three digits are visible (193), but the last digit is hiding under the stamp. It was sent to Springfield, Ohio with a message that reads thus,"The waters are wonderful here. You would like it fine. How's your vacation coming. See you Monday. Anna. Send me a new pen." Card will arrive in plastic sleeve.

Program Bal Du Moulin Rouge Paris Fantastic (1970)
14 Program Bal Du Moulin Rouge Paris Fantastic (1970)
Paris, France Editions IKA 1970 soft cover Very Good condition
Outstanding cover design and lots of photos inside showing the various acts at the Moulin Rouge Fantastic. Some are in color, others in black and white, but both show the grandness of the show. The program is in French, but it isn't hard to get the gist. It's a very attractive keepsake from the legendary cabaret of Montmarte. The program is viewed vertically at first glance, but is turned horizontally to read it. It measures 8-1/2" x 10-3/4" and has 21 counted pages. Very clean and nice. (ENT.-2)

Program Metropolitan Opera House Romeo & Juliet (Maria Tallchief, 1945)
15 Program Metropolitan Opera House Romeo & Juliet (Maria Tallchief, 1945)
New York City Metropolitan Opera House 1945 soft cover Very good condition
This is a very nicely kept program. Had it not been folded in half vertically, as theater-goers tend to do, it would be perfect. I ironed it and put it in the book press and it's now completely flat. The program shows the seating diagram, and of course the cast of the narrative ballet, Romeo and Juliet, which was staged in one act. I checked out the list of performers and found Maria Tallchief in a lesser role. But a little research showed that at the time Tallchief, the first Native American ballerina, was dancing for the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. This was very early in her career, but in just two years (1947) she would become the first prima ballerina of the New York City Ballet. The peogram measures 6-1/2" x 9" with 24 pages. Great ads too. Program: The Regimental Band of the Scots Guards the Pipes, Drums & Highland Dancers of the Black Watch (1983)
16 Program: The Regimental Band of the Scots Guards the Pipes, Drums & Highland Dancers of the Black Watch (1983)
New York Columbia Artists Festival Corp. 1983 soft cover Good
Nice, clean oversized program which measures 9"x12" and is illustrated throughout with both black and white and color photographs. Pages are not numbered, but I counted 22, all filled with information about the Scots Guards, the Black Watch and the Regimental Band, as well as about the Highland dancing and the bagpipe. The program itself takes up a two page spread at center. Only faults are two light scratches to cover and a small bit of rubbing to bottom front corner next to spine. Pages show no writing or creasing.

17 S. Hurok Presents The Royal Winnipeg Ballet (Christine Hennessy, 1966-67)
New York S. Horok 1966-67 Card cover Good condition
Very nice, tightly bound and clean souvenir of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. There is no reference to the theatre or the dates. But on the last page it says S. Hurok Presents for 1966-67 a list of attractions, one of which is the Royal Winnipeg. Beautiful black and white photographs throughout, plus information about the cast. The premiere dancers are Christine Hennessy, Leo Ahonen, Sheila MacKinnon, Bill Martin-Viscount and Richard Rutherford. The booklet is over-sized at 8-1/4" x 12". Only fault is some rubbing to edges of back cover.

New York S. Hurok 1958-59 soft cover Very good
Very nice, clean, tightly bound program with no names or writing and no creasing. Only fault is a little darkening to the spine are at front cover. Oversized at 9"x12". Many black and white photographs in addition to the program and short articles about the various entertainment groups. Lots of ads for Scotch Whiskey including some full page color ones for Johnnie Walker, Grant's, and Teacher's. I counted 31 pages.

The Royal Academy of Dancing Gala Matinee of Ballet 1958 (Margot Fonteyn)
20 The Royal Academy of Dancing Gala Matinee of Ballet 1958 (Margot Fonteyn)
London The Royal Acedemy of Dancing 1958 card cover Good condition
Large program bound with quality golden cording. It measures 9" x 12" and is clean and bright inside. The cover is a bit toned around the edges and there are indications of nibbling to upper corners. I repaired them with archival tape which smooths it out and keeps the tiny chads from the abrasions to keep from tearing. Archival tape is non-browning and almost invisible. Inside there are full page photos of the Queen Mother, The Princess Margaret and others. But the focus is on the ballet and its dancers -- Alicia Markova, Yvette Chauvire, Youly Algaroff, Henning Kronstam, Kirsten Simone, Lucette Aldous, Norman Morrice, John Gilpin, Mona Inglesby, Anita Landa, Margot Fonteyn, and Michael Somes. 34 counted pages. OVERSEAS ORDERS WELCOME, but pleaee contact us with item and destination so we can provide you with am exact shipping cost. Ships for $2 in the U.S.
