Wove in Indiana and Fancy Weaving Jacquard Coverlets By Indiana Weavers (two exhibition catalogs)
3 Wove in Indiana and Fancy Weaving Jacquard Coverlets By Indiana Weavers (two exhibition catalogs)
Indiana Conner Prairie Pioneer Settlement 1978 & 1981 soft cover Very good
I am delighted to have found these! I have about seven Jacquard coverlets, so was quite charmed when I found them. These are two very nice, clean exhibit catalogs measuring 8" x 11", both featuring the collection of John and Janet Simmermaker of Winnemac, Indiana. Both catalogs were printed to accompany displays at the Conner Prairie Pioneer Settlement. Wove in Indiana was for the December 1978 event. It has 28 counted pages with beautiful photos printed in blue ink, a common color used for Jacquard coverlets which are the product of a loom that used a series of cards (like IBM cards) to make the distinctive pictorial designs. The second catalog, Fancy Weaving, accompanied a display in 1981. This one has less pages (13) and less photos, but describes 78 coverlets in the collection. Information about the craft itself is in the larger book.
