Guidebook For Field Trips in New England 1952 (Geology), Billigns, Marlene P.;Rodgers, John; Thompson, James B. Jr.
1 Billigns, Marlene P.;Rodgers, John; Thompson, James B. Jr. Guidebook For Field Trips in New England 1952 (Geology)
Boston, Mass. Geologists of Greater Boston 1952 Card cover Good
The inside of this guide book is clean and tightly bound and has no names or writing. The plastic spiral which binds it isn't cracked and there is only one small piece of it missing at bottom of spine, but all pages are nicely adhered. There is also a crisp, pristine geological map at the back cover inserted into a clean white envelope designed for the purpose. Text is comprised of four trips: Geology of the Appalachian Highlands of Eastern-Central New York, Southern Vermont, and Southern New Hampshire; Outstanding Pematites of Maine and New Hampshire; Geology of the "Chelmsford Granite" Area; and Glacial Geology in the Buzzards Bay Region and Western Cape Cod. Book includes step by step itineraries, plus many geological tables and maps, as well as informational text. Cover, as you cans see from the photo, has toned in areas and there is small snip off the top corner at back. A crease under it has been stabilized on reverse by me with almost invisible archival tape. Measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 142 pages.

Though not without defects, this is an interesting and important item in nice clean condition. The pages are clean and nice and the eight fold-out maps at back are pristine. The main booklet measures 6"x9" and has 72 pages illustrated with small black and white photos at back and a crisp informational fold-out at center. The Big Bend of the Rio Grande (1971 Maps and Ephemera at Back. Guide 7), Maxwell, Ross A.
3 Maxwell, Ross A. The Big Bend of the Rio Grande (1971 Maps and Ephemera at Back. Guide 7)
Austin, Texas Bureau of Economic Geology / university of Texas at Austin 1971 Third printing Card cover Very good Condition
I had one of these some years ago, but I don't remember there being so many pertinent pieces of ephemera in the pocket located inside the back cover. The book itself is wonderful with black and white photographs, maps, and a lengthy text filling 138 pages. It's a guide to the rocks, the geologic history of the area, and the settlers of the area of Big Bend National Park in Texas. The big colorful map is a geological one and its not just big -- it's VERY BIG and in excellent condition. There are also two smaller maps of the Big Bend National Park, a foldout showing the structure sections of Marathon Basin, and a fold-out which provides a panorama view of The Basin in the Chisos Mts., Big Bend National Park. Everything is clean and bright. There is a small sticker in the upper corner of the back cover which says "This book belongs to", but no one used it.
