Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts Stevens Arms Company 1940 soft cover Catalog No. 40
Crisp clean catalog which defies its age and also comes with the original price list and a letter from the company directed to the consumer. There is no date, but it details its use of a product called Tenite which debuted in the 1940's. As the war escalated Tenite kept sporting goods on the market while wood was held for miltiary guns. Brochures Benjamin Air Rifle Company (1946)
6 Brochures Benjamin Air Rifle Company (1946)
St. Louis, Missouri Benjamin Air Rifle Company 1946 soft cover Very good condition
None of these three brochures have a printed date, but the original owner jotted down the year as 1946 on one of them. He was an Ohio gun shop owner and died in 1970. All three brochures measure around 3" x 6" give or take. All are printed on both sides, but the green one has two panels while the others have four. The green one shows two viable products and two that were discontinued. The others are filled with information and suggestions. The dated one has some penciled numbers showing how long it would take for repair and how much money is required to begin the process (see photo). All are clean dn nicely kept.

8 CVA Mountain Rifle & Kit Promotion Materials (1977)
Haddam, Connecticut Connecticut Valley Arms Inc. 1977/78 Fine condition
Wow! This is a really nice find. Inside this envelope are many pristine, unused advertising products. The envelope was never mailed which is likely why everything inside is so perfect. The contents include the following: a letter to the dealer; a 1978 catalog replete with price sheet; a huge wall or window banner measuring 12" x 52"; and a counter card (10-1/2" x 14") affixed with a pad of tear-off coupons. None were used AND we have a second unused pad as well.

Description of the Rules for the Management of the Springfield Rifle Carbine and Army Revolvers Calibre .45
9 Description of the Rules for the Management of the Springfield Rifle Carbine and Army Revolvers Calibre .45
Unknown circa 1960 Reprint soft cover Very good
Though there is no reprint publisher named and the date shows as 1874, this booklet is far too new for this to be true. I think this is the Ray Riling reproduction from 1960. I had one once and, as I recall, it looked like this. The booklet was originally published in 1874 by the National Armory of Springfield, Mass. The pages are constructed from quality coated paper, including the fold-out diagram at the back. The booklet measures 6"x9-1/2" and has 51 illustrated pages. There is much information here. Very clean with sunning to spine only. former owner's large pictorial bookplate is on the back of the front cover.

Goex Black Rifle Powder 80th Anniversary Poster
10 Goex Black Rifle Powder 80th Anniversary Poster
Moosic, Pemmsylvania Goex Inc. Very good condition
It's amazing how a simple configuration of gun powder tins and a muzzle-loading rifle above them can be so stunning, but stunning it is. The colors are warm and inviting and the various labels catch the eye.The poster measures 17" x 22", a nice size for framing which doesn't require a lot of wall space. There's no date, though I did try to find one with no luck. I bought the poster rolled which will make it easy to ship and can later be flattened at a frame shop. I have a book press, but it's not big enough or I would do it. Altogether a handsome scene!

Gun and Cartridge Record (April, 1954)
11 Gun and Cartridge Record (April, 1954)
Chagrin Falls, Ohio Gun and Cartridge Inc. 1954 Vol. III Number 1 soft cover Very good
This one's a cross between a newspaper and a magazine. Retains the newspaper look, but the paper itself is much more substantial which is why it looks so nice. This is NOT the publication of the same name issued by Andy Palmer of Michigan. This one is harder to find and came from Ohio, though Palmer's is getting to be scarce too. The magazine measures 12"x18" and has 12 pages of dense text. It's clean, crisp and bright with just a few little tears which I have repaired with almost invisible archival tape. The articles are all short and cover a wide range of subjects, including an NRA meeting in Washington, Achtung Panzers, the Bacon shooting bench, Lt. Col. Fritz Clodius Skaar, Swiss uniforms 1898-1915 and much more. I have about a half dozen of these all from the 50's, so if you want a run-down on what's available use the contact button and I'll get back to you.

Gun and Cartridge Record October, 1953
12 Gun and Cartridge Record October, 1953
Chagrin Falls, Ohio Gun and Cartridge Record Inc. 1953 Vol. II No. 7 soft cover Very good
This one's a cross between a newspaper and a magazine. It's clean, crisp and bright with just some light toning to edges at spots and darkening at crease. The articles are all short and cover a wide range of subjects, including Micahel Corcoran, a colorful officer in the Civil War, the history of the cartridge, handloading, panzers, an Italian anti-personnel land mine and much more. There are also book reviews, classifieds, and current prices of various arms. I have about a half dozen of these all from the 50's, so if you want a run-down on what's available use the contact button and I'll get back to you.

Ithaca Gun Catalog 1939 (Ithaca, Lefever and Western Arms Guns)
14 Ithaca Gun Catalog 1939 (Ithaca, Lefever and Western Arms Guns)
Ithaca, New York Ithaca Gun Company circa 1939-40 soft cover Good condition
This catalog will arrive with the two extra advertising pieces I found inside, both of which were produced by Ithaca in 1940. The only thing that bothers me a little is that the first page is numbered 3, but there is no evidence of any pages having been torn out. Page three was blank initially until a notice was pasted onto it with a list of new prices for June, 1940 (see photo). The booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and ends on page 22. The First extras is a three panel brochure advertising Ithaca, Lefever and Western Arms models -- all repeaters and new prices. The second item is a four page brochure of dealer price quotes (orange paper).

15 Jack First Inc. Gun Parts Gun Accessories Gun Repairs Volume 1 #12 ; Volume 2 #12
Rapid City, South Dakota Jack First, Inc. Not stated Volume I #12; Volume II, #12 soft cover Very Good condition
Here we have two enormous books in clean, bright condition with no creasing to spines. Very clean pages and page edges. Only fault is creasing to upper front corner of cover on volume 1. They aren't catalogs, but rather a compilation of information such as new factory part lists smd accessories and tools for many models and manufacturers. Also covers obsolete ammunition, turned and drawn cases for obsolete ammo, custom loading dies, hard-to-find ammunition, miscellaneous data, gunsmithing and warranty, new factory parts and accessories and tools listed alphabetically and more. The combined number of pages is 3817 and the combined outcome is certainly the purchase of items mentioned. Ships for $2.00 media mail in the United States.

16 Kennebec Supply Company Catalog 1929-30 High Grade Fire Arms and Accessories

Clean, tightly bound trade catalog from a company which specialized in guns for target, sporting, and home protection. Manufacturers include Iver-Johnson, Harrington-Richardson, Colt, Stevens, Smith & Wesson, Hartford, Haenel Works of Europe, and Winchester. Lewis Machine Gun (Airplane Type Model 1917-18 Caliber.30)
17 Lewis Machine Gun (Airplane Type Model 1917-18 Caliber.30)
Utica, New York Savage Arms Corporation WWI era Card cover Fair
This item would never win a beauty contest. I almost didn't buy it, but then I opened the back cover and saw the magnificent fold-out in COLOR. And that did it! When I got it home I did the following to improve it: used book cover cleaner and tons of paper towels, used black book tape on spine to stabilize binding; and used document pad to clean smudges. Believe it or not, it's actually come a long way. The pages are quite clean and tightly bound -- item is not often seen. It easures 4" x 6" and has 63 pages. Former owner's name is stamped on first and last pages and is written on back of front cover. Booklet provides much technical and practical advice.

National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association South Eastern Rendezvous 1982 (with Medallion)
18 National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association South Eastern Rendezvous 1982 (with Medallion)
Friendship, Indiana N.M.L.R.A. 1982 Soft cover Good condition
Crisp and clean as new with the keepsake medallion in it's original bag stapled to front corner. NMLRA is still conducting target shooting competitions using single bullet muzzleloaders. The competition is about sport of course, but it's also an endeavor for competitors to arrive in historical garb. The program measures 5-1/2" x 8-3/4"and has 16 pages. The only defect is the fate of many programs of all kinds -- a vertical fold right now the center. It's unusual to find the token.

Ruger Sporting Firearms Catalog (1984)
19 Ruger Sporting Firearms Catalog (1984)
Southport, Connecticut Sturn, Ruger & Company Inc. circa 1984 Soft cover Very good condition
There is no date in this catalog that I can find. Very often though there isnt a date by design so that the catalog can remain in action longer. A little research indicated however indicated that this was published around 1984. It's very nice and clean with just one fault -- a tiny puncture on the front cover which I almost missed. To keep it small I put a tiny piece of archival tape over it from the reverse side. The catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11 and has 27 pages. Among the types are M-77 Bolt-Action Rifle; No. 1 Single-shot Rifle; No. 1 Light Sporter; Mini-14 Semi Automatic Rifles; Over and Under Shotguns; New 77/22 Rimfore Rifle; Automatic Pistols; New Model Single-Actions; New Model Super Blackhawk and much more.

Savage Sporting Arms and Ammunition Catalog No. 72 (Price list laid-in, 1938)
20 Savage Sporting Arms and Ammunition Catalog No. 72 (Price list laid-in, 1938)
Utica, New York Savage Arms Corporation 1938 Catalog No. 72 soft cover Good-plus
The older gun catalogs are hard to find. This one is replete with its matching price list. The most expensive item on it is the Model 99-K Takedown at $85. The least expensive is the Model 3 Single Shot Bolt Action Rifle with peep sights at $5.65. The catalog measures 7-1/2" by 9-1/4" and has 23 pages, each with photos in black and white. Other than a small bit of wear to bottom front edge of cover, this is a very nice collectible.
