3 Ehrman Tapestry 1992 Catalog (Price-list laid-in)
London, U.S.A. etc. Ehrman Tapestry 1992 soft cover Very good condition
Ehrman's Tapestry is so gorgeous -- the photographs are nothing short of voluptuous. Flowers, foliage, birds, beasts, pictures and patterns ,and fruits and vegetables all come together to create designs of beauty and a catalog to keep even when the new comes out. The catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11" with 64 pages. The price list remains inside and shows prices from $25 to $2845 for two different large carpets -- apples and cabbages and a Georgian carpet. These are worked in strips that are then sewn together. Also of interest is info and photos of the Ehrman Tapestry and Wallpaper shop. The catalog is clean and bright throughout. Other catalogs from the 90's are available. Just send a message and I'll see if I have what you want.

Grandmother Clark's How to Make Hand Made Crocheted Rag Rugs (1933)
4 Grandmother Clark's How to Make Hand Made Crocheted Rag Rugs (1933)
St. Louis, Missouri W.L.M. Clark 1933 Book No. 24 soft cover Good condition
The paper cover is rather lightweight on this catalog, so it's no wonder it was a little loose. I re-enforced it with archival tape alongside the spine at the right hand side of the picture. It hardly shows. The catalog has fifteen pages in color and offers instructions. Crafters could buy kits with everything needed to make the ship rug (see photo) and other attractive designs. The catalog measures 8" tall and 11" wide and has 16 pages of info including the back cover.

The Use of Wide-Seam Carpet in Decoration (Clara Dudley for Alexander Smith & Sons Carpet Co. 1931), Dudley, Clara
6 Dudley, Clara The Use of Wide-Seam Carpet in Decoration (Clara Dudley for Alexander Smith & Sons Carpet Co. 1931)
New York Alexander Smith & Sons Carpet Co. 1931 soft cover Good
Very uncommon piece of ephemera in excellent condition. Cover and pages of this oversized piece are clean as a whistle inside and out. Glassine overwrap, hoever, shows a diagonal crease to bottom front corner, a thin line of browning from top to bottom at front and and a small hole and some chips to back edges. Beautfully illustrated with color renderings of rooms --also includes a color chart with 18 hues and suggestions for their use. This is an important piece, as Alexander Smith & Sons by 1929 were the largest carpet company in the world, famous for their innovative techniques that made carpeting affordable to the middle class. The company began in 1845 in West Farms, New York and merged with Mohawk in 1956. An interesting sidebar is the fact that Alexander Smith himself was elected to Congress in 1878, but died the evening of his election day. Piece is unpaginated, but we counted 10 large pages. Measures 9-1.2" x 11-1/2".
