Hotel Condado Barcelona, Spain Vintage Travel Brochure
1 Hotel Condado Barcelona, Spain Vintage Travel Brochure
Barcelona Clavidi Publicidad No date stated Soft cover
Very nice, clean hotel brochure with a very handsome front cover. It's written in Spanish only, but if you have even a little high school Spanish you'll get the drift. It measures 4-1/2"x 8" and has 30 counted pages. There's info of course about the hotel, but also focuses on things to see an do --restaurants, historic places, sports, museums, air lines, religious monuments, English church services, art expositions, consulates, Montserrat, and the Costa Brava. There is no date.

Spain Travel Brochure
2 Spain Travel Brochure
Madrid, Spain Ministerio De Informacion Y Turismo No date soft cover Very good condition
This is a very attractive travel brochure which shows off the many faces of Spain. There is no date and I could find no clues that would have at least dated it by decade. It's fairly contemporary -- from the 80's to the early 2000s. There's much to read about hotels, restaurants, museums, beauty sites, shopping, sports, festivals and other fun things. The brochure closes up to a handy 4-3/4" x 9-1/2 and opens to twice as big. Other than a few small isolated edge wear, the brochure is lovely. TEXT IS IN ENGLISH.

Talleres De Arte Granda 1963 (Church Catalog Interior Items)
3 Talleres De Arte Granda 1963 (Church Catalog Interior Items)
Marid, Spain Talleres De Arte Granda Church 1963 Card cover Very good condition
This may be the last of the church building and decorating trade catalogs, as I have not seen one since the day after last Christmas. I bought them all last fall from a man whose family has been in the industry for 100 years.I t's sad to see them all gone, but you never know when something else come along. Anyway, this catalog is the only Spanish one -- the rest were Italian. The photographs are black and white, but very nuanced and showing a large span of items. The manila color paper laid-in is a price list which coordinates with the item and the page. The catalog measures 6-1/2" x 9-1/2" and has 32 pages. There are no labels and no writing or creasing. Very clean. Items include statues, monstrances, crucifixes, candle holders, bells,, crosses, staffs, Prayer Books, incense burners, cruets, chalices, chasubles, and more. (Bus. Box 1)

Holiday Magazine October, 1955 (Venice, Siam, Arabia, Pennsylvania, and Toscanini), Richter, Conrad; Sean O'Faolain.
5 Richter, Conrad; Sean O'Faolain. Holiday Magazine October, 1955 (Venice, Siam, Arabia, Pennsylvania, and Toscanini)
U.S.A. Curtis Publishing 1955 Volume 18, No. 4 soft cover Good-plus
From domestic trips the the exotic, this issue has it all. Settle in an armchair and begin with an article about Pennsylvania written by novelist Conrad Richter and the off to the Bronx. There's a piece on how find the best Chinese food, soccer, and Spain's most fashionable women. But on now to the exotic. The first is about Venice by the Irish writer, Sean O'Faolain. Next comes Siam, Arabia, and a Cajun Cruise. The best is an intimate look at the musician, Toscanni. It was written by Samual Chotzenoff, the first of four. The magazine is has its complete spine strip, but there are two small repaired areas. There's small tear to the outer side of the front cover and a small crease at the same place. Both will be mended by me. The magazine measures 10-1/4" x 13-3/4"and has 140 pages.Important ads include Moore-McCormack Line, Guiness, Flexscreen, Yardley Lavender and much more.

The Tourist Guide Book of Spain 1953 (Many maps), Williamson, Herbert W. Serra
6 Williamson, Herbert W. Serra The Tourist Guide Book of Spain 1953 (Many maps)
Madrid The Times of Spain; The British American Publishing Company 1953 Revised Edition Hard cover Very Good condition
This is a hard cover travel guide to Spain in the early 1950's. It could be argued I suppose that it's more book than ephemera, but the information is as fleeting as the blue moon. Travel books, hard cover or soft, are practically the description of ephemera --when they're replaced the next year they're dead until a collector comes along decades later to awaken them. When it comes to maps this guide is an embarrassment of riches -- 18 color fold-outs bound in with town guides plus a railway map at back of book. Includes local ads and small black and white photos. Guide measures 5"x7" and has 608 pages with a ribbon marker advertising a restaurant. In addition to accommodations and sites to explore etc. there's much history. Book is clean and tightly bound.
