Frank Lloyd Wright Residences for America A Book of Postcards
1 Frank Lloyd Wright Residences for America A Book of Postcards
San Francisco Pomegranate Artbooks 1994 0876541007 / 9780876541005 Card cover Very good condition
Very nice booklet of bound postcards held by the Library of Congress including drawings from the Wasmuth (1910) and American System-Built (1915-1917). There are 30 elegant postcards altogether, all architectural drawings rendered by Frank Lloyd Wright. Most are black and white while others are simply colored. The cards are a bit oversized at 4-1/4" x 6-1/4" and are clean and tightly bound. Surprisingly, the word Aemrican is spelled wrong on the cover.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Child of the Sun: A Walking Tour of Florida Southern College (circa 1998)
2 Frank Lloyd Wright's Child of the Sun: A Walking Tour of Florida Southern College (circa 1998)
Lakeland, Florida Florida Southern College circa 1998 Soft cover brochures Very good condition
Here we have three clean brochures which arrived together in the same cello bag. The two most important are'lt dated, but I did find a very small date on the campus map -- 1998.The major brochure with the photo of FLW opens to reveal four panels with information about local buildings illustrated with eight sepia pictures. Turn it over and you have more info and three more photos. The second brochure tells the story of Wright's relationship with the college. Thirdly, we have a campus map. The only fault to these may not be a fault at all because it provides additional information. On the back of the brochure about Wright's relationship to the college the previous owner penned names of what I surmise are donors to the FLW buildings on campus. Nice set.

Glimpses of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition and City of St. Louis. 1904
3 Glimpses of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition and City of St. Louis. 1904
Chicago Laird and Lee Publishers 1904 Hard cover Good condition
This souvenir book commemorates the Lousiana Exposition of 1904 with two hundred photos including 32 colorgraph views and 188 copperplate scenes. Every picture is full page with descriptions beneath. The book measures 5-1/2" x 6-3/4" and has clean and tightly bound pages. I cleaned the blue boards and improved them quite a bit, but there's still some small areas of stubborn soil. The original owner's name, F.J. Hall 1904, written with abandon on the title page. There is also a blank bookplate inside the back cover, but no name. (Entertainment Box 1)

Harper's Magazine, May, 1958 (Frank Lloyd Wright)
4 Harper's Magazine, May, 1958 (Frank Lloyd Wright)
New York Harper & Bros. 1958 Vol. 216, No. 1296 soft cover Very good
Very clean, nicely kept magazine marred only by a small abrasion to outer front edge, a small chip to side of one page (not affecting text) and creasing to the same page which has been pressed flat in the book press by me. As you can see, the cover caricature is Frank Lloyd Wright, the star of this issue. His accompanying article is entitled "How Frank Lloyd Wright Got His Medal". To give you an idea of the tone the teaser reads, "He behaved rather like Moses with a quart of skimmed milk and an aggressive gall bladder ...." Another story of note is "The Guns at Falaise Gap", a first person account of one of the most crushing and least known American victories of WWII. Magazine measures 8"x11" and has 96 pages. Color ads include Old Smuggler Scotch, DeWar's "White Label", Drambuie, Sunlane cruises, American President Lines, British Travel Assoc., and Lord Calvert Blended Whiskey.

6 Program Frank Lloyd Wright Festival May 30-July 4, 1969 (Illinois)
Chicago, Illinois University of Illinois 1969 soft cover Very Good
Very nice, clean program published to accompany a Frank Lloyd Wright Festival held in Oak Park and River Forest, Illinois from May 30 to July, 4 1969 to celebrate the FLW architecture of the area. The program measures 8" square and is attractive and tightly bound. It's printed throughout on coated paper and shows many black and white photographs of Wright's homes in the area, some with floor plans. Many events, including educational forums, the dedication of Wright-Bock Fountain Plaza, a concert at Unity Temple (which Wright designed), a tour, fireworks and much more. 36 pages and no names or writing. Taliesin Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation 1985
7 Taliesin Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation 1985
Scottsdale, Ariszona Printer only 1986 soft cover Very good
This is a beautiful oversized, full color promotional piece likely sold to tourists. The condition is quite good with just a flat crease to the upper front corner and isolated wear spots along the spine which in no way compromise it. It's in full color throughout with gorgeous photos of Wright's work and that of Taliesin Architects. The name Taliesin derives from that of a Welsh poet-bard who sang of the glories of fine art. The piece (it seems too big to call a booklet) measures 9"x12". Some extra goodies were found tucked inside which I will pass along. One is an empty shopping bag from a Taliesin gift shop and the other a newspaper article from the March 27, 1987 Detroit News about a Weight house in Bloomfield Hills (The Gregor S. Affleck house) which the family donated to Lawrence Institute of Technology for restoration by students.

The Mansfield Old Building Handbook: A Guide to Architectural Styles and Rehabilitation Techniques, Williams,Judith B.
10 Williams,Judith B. The Mansfield Old Building Handbook: A Guide to Architectural Styles and Rehabilitation Techniques
Mansfield, Ohio City of Mansfield 1988 Historic Preservation Commission of Mansfield Card cover, spiral binding Fine condition David Butler; Ruth Leonard Design, Columbus, Ohio
This is an outstanding booklet. I've never seen it before, but I got it last week thinking it was new, which it is not. It was published in 1988. Much time, effort, and creativity ended in a guide which explains architectural types of homes and buildings in Mansfield and Richland County and has photos for each. There's also information on repairs of roofs, foundations, gutters, siding and more, all of which offer either photos or drawings. What I like best about this booklet though is the art -- it's gorgeous and there are several examples including a fold-out at the back of book. The guide measures 7-1/4" x 10"and has 44 pages plus fold-out.
