1993 National Fall Shoot September 11-19 (Walter Cline Range Friendship, Indiana)
1 1993 National Fall Shoot September 11-19 (Walter Cline Range Friendship, Indiana)
Friednship, Indiana National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association 1993 soft cover Very good condition
Very nice program which includes the winners from the various matches. The event is held by the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association located in tiny Friendship, Indiana. These matches drew in a lot of people, both bystanders and competitors. The booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 39 pages. It's very clean and somehow managed not to get folded in half. If you were there and lost yours here's a chance to get a replacement. I've never seen these out in the wild before this one!

51st Rose Bowl Game, Official Program, Michigan Vs. Oregon State (1965)
2 51st Rose Bowl Game, Official Program, Michigan Vs. Oregon State (1965)
Pasadena, California 1965 soft cover Very good
Great graphic on this vintage Rose Bowl parade program dated January 1, 1951. The University of Michigan Wolverines tussled with The Oregon Beavers that day and the Wolverines not only took the game handily with a score of 34 to 7, but Wolverine full-back Mel Anthony was named Rose Bowl player of the Game. The program is almost a magazine. It measures 8-1/2"x11" and has 98 pages, all tightly bound. there is one small tear to outer back edge, but I mended it with non-browning almost invisible archival tape. Fun gift for a Rose Bowl fan.

3 Canisius Versus Brown Official Football Program September 28, 1946
Providence, Rhode Island Brown University 1946 September 28, 1946 soft cover Good condition
Here we have a rather hard to find program for this 1946 football match between Brown (host) and Canisius College of Buffalo, New York. The program measures 7-1/2" x 10" with 24 pages, all printed in tones of brown and white. Great photo of the Captain of the Brown team, James Lalikos, standing on what appears to be a Bruins monument. Brown won the game at fourteen to six.

Game Face Cleveland Indian Scorebook Magazine Commemorative Issue 1993; Tribute to Cleveland Stadium Official Souvenir Print October 2, 1993 (Cleveland Indians Baseball)
4 Game Face Cleveland Indian Scorebook Magazine Commemorative Issue 1993; Tribute to Cleveland Stadium Official Souvenir Print October 2, 1993 (Cleveland Indians Baseball)
Cleveland, Ohio Cleveland Indians Baseball 1993 soft cover Very good
These items came together so I am leaving them together, as both are mementos of the last Cleveland Indians baseball season to be held at the old Cleveland Stadium. The magazine measures 8-1/2"x11" and still retains its unused scorecards for the final series at Cleveland Stadium. It's a glossy magazine with lots of photos and Cleveland baseball history. Magazine is clean and bright with just one tear to lower front corner which was repaired on reverse side with tape by former owner. The print measures 8"x11" also and shows likenesses of Andre Thornton, Mel Harder, Bob Feller and Lou Boudreau. The text reads "Tribute to Cleveland Stadium October 2, 1993." Nice package!

Grand Prix of the United States at Watkins Glen October 1-2-3, 1965 Program
5 Grand Prix of the United States at Watkins Glen October 1-2-3, 1965 Program
Watkins Glen, New York Watkins Glen Grand Prix Corporation 1965 soft cover Very good
Love racing? This program derives from a difficult race with lots of rain, fog, and cold air with only intermittent sun. The British RULED, claiming four out of five spots with only one American, Dan Gurney, in the top five at fourth place and 19 points. Jim Clark of the UK at 54 points won the day. The program is great -- really clean and nice with an additional sheet of Latest Information news laid-in. Only fault is some rubbing at front (see photo). Great action photos in black and white and related ads.

Homecoming Miami vs.Vanderbilt November 7,1952 Orange Bowl (football program)
6 Homecoming Miami vs.Vanderbilt November 7,1952 Orange Bowl (football program)
Miami, Florida University of Miami 1952 soft cover Very good
Colorful fun graphic on this Miami vs. Vanderbilt November 7, 1952 Orange Bowl game -- check out the droopy mustaches! Though Miami hosted and it was their Homecoming, it was Vanderbilt's game from the start. They brought it home with a win of 9-0. The program measures 8"x10-1/2" and has 52 pages with lots of photos of players and coaches from both teams, squad rosters for both, and lots of info, plus ads including full color national ones for Coke, Lucky Strike and Camel. Program is clean and tightly bound with a snip off upper front corner and a faint crease from having been folded down the middle as so many programs were. But I ironed it and put it in the book press so its much fainter now.

National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association South Eastern Rendezvous 1982 (with Medallion)
7 National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association South Eastern Rendezvous 1982 (with Medallion)
Friendship, Indiana N.M.L.R.A. 1982 Soft cover Good condition
Crisp and clean as new with the keepsake medallion in it's original bag stapled to front corner. NMLRA is still conducting target shooting competitions using single bullet muzzleloaders. The competition is about sport of course, but it's also an endeavor for competitors to arrive in historical garb. The program measures 5-1/2" x 8-3/4"and has 16 pages. The only defect is the fate of many programs of all kinds -- a vertical fold right now the center. It's unusual to find the token.

Northwestern Versus Notre Dame 1948 Football Program
8 Northwestern Versus Notre Dame 1948 Football Program
Notre Dame University 1948 soft cover Very good
Beautiful condition and a fun collectible no matter which side's your favorite (well, maybe!) The game was held at Notre Dame Stadium November 13, 1948. The program measures 8"x11-1/2" and has 84 pages. It's interesting that the leading advertiser is Chesterfield cigarettes. Not only do they command the back cover, but also paid for a two-page color spread inside. Studebaker and Coca-Cola likewise sprang for color advertising. Pictures of the campus, staff, and Notre Dame players abound, as do photos of the Northwestern team. I did a little research and it seems that the Fighting Irish ended victorious with a perfect season matched only by the University of Michigan Wolverines. The championship ultimately went to the Wolverines, but at least on this day the Notre Dame Fight Song filled the autumn air with joy!

Official Football Program Drake University vs. Iowa State College Saturday, November 13, 1943 (Homecoming)
9 Official Football Program Drake University vs. Iowa State College Saturday, November 13, 1943 (Homecoming)
Des Moines, Iowa Drake University 1943 soft cover Near fine
What a cover! This one caught my eye from across a room. It's clean as a whistle and has not been folded down the middle as so often is the case with programs of all kinds. One small edge tear on a page was repaired by me with non-browning archival tape. The only other defect a very few pages where the paper was cut a little ragged The program was printed for the 1943 Homecoming game for Drake who took on Iowa State College on Nov. 13, 1943. Generally I can find out who won the game, but this one is anybody's guess! Nice group picture of the Drake Dull Dogs, plus individual pictures, and also some individual portraits of the Iowa State College Cyclones. Measures 7-1/2"x10-3/4".

The Official Program American and Canadian Sportsmen's Show Cleveland Public Auditorium 1939
11 The Official Program American and Canadian Sportsmen's Show Cleveland Public Auditorium 1939
Unknown location of publisher Expositions Inc. 1939 Printed on cardstock Very Good condition
The Cleveland Sportsmen Show has been around a long time -- since 1927. The first time around it filled Public Auditorium for just three years due to the Great Depression. Seven years went by and finally in 1937 the doors opened again. This guide measures 4-1/2" x 11-1/4" and opens to four panels which measure 17-3/4" across. The 1939 show opened April 15th and closed April 23rd. What's interesting is unusual competitions which included log-rolling, canoe tilting, wood chopping and cross-cut-sawing. They also had casting tricks and demonstrations, game retrieving, marksmanship, deep-sea fishing and archery. Special events included Native American songs and dances, a sporting dog exhibit, field dog training, trap-shooting, a public rifle range and a public archery range. Guide has information on all panels and on both sides. Very nice! Fairly scarce.

13 Kurt D. Hunt, Editor 1997 Indianapolis 500 Official Program with extra ephemera
Indianapolis Indy Publications 1997, 1994 Soft covers Fine condition
This a handsome program for the 1997 Indianapolis 500. The program looks like a magazine with great ads, lots of stars, and diverse articles, including a Q & A with Parnelli Jones. The program measures 8-1/2" x 11-1/4" and has 208 full colored pages. Inside there are extra goodies that will remain inside. I never take them out as long as they are on the same subject as the main item.
