Akron Club House Turkeyfoot Lake Near Akron, Ohio Color Postcard circa 1910
1 Akron Club House Turkeyfoot Lake Near Akron, Ohio Color Postcard circa 1910
Akron Canton, Ohio Emil Chmolitzki Fine
This charming color scene is one that's rarely found of the Club House at Turkeyfoot Lake, Akron, Ohio which was a summer resort. Look closely and you can see women in pastel dresses amongst the trees. The card was never used and, as you can see, shows no edge wear or creasing. It has a divided back and stamp box shows the cost of postage as a penny for domestic, island possessions, Canafa, Cuba, Mexico and Panama and two cents for overseas.

B&O Railroad Miniature Metal Sign and Three B&O Color Postcards
2 B&O Railroad Miniature Metal Sign and Three B&O Color Postcards
Earlton, New York; Washington Audio-Visual Designs & Washington Chapter NRHS 1967 All In fine Condition
This is a unique offering -- a small 3" diameter metal sign for the B&O Railroad, offered in the 1950's as a premium for Post cereals. The collector who owned it paired it with three color postcards, one of which is dated 1967. None have been used or written on and all are in excellent condition. The dated one was published by Washington Chapter NRHS and shows a President Class 4-6-2 pulling the B&O's Ambassador past Ivy City as it leaves Union Station Washington, D.C. Dec. 16, 1951. The other cards show "The Cincinnatian" train No 53 westbound from Toledo, Ohio July, 1956 and the B&O Mikado standing at rest during the final steam passenger run May, 1958 from Cleveland to Halloway, Ohio. We have several more pairings of metal signs and cards.

Cedar Point Amusement Park (Ohio) Tourists in the Arcade Real Photo Postcard
3 Cedar Point Amusement Park (Ohio) Tourists in the Arcade Real Photo Postcard
Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio Arcade Photo Co. Fine
Are we having fun yet? Every time I look at this card I have to laugh. Five tourists aboard a fake boat in the arcade at the site of Ohio's grand amusement park and not a smile in the bunch, including the two clutching teddy bears! Still, this is one of my all-time favorite real photos! It was never sent, there's no stamp, no writing and no edgewear. Photo was printed on AZO photographic paper.

Color Postcard All-American Chevrolet Soap Box Derby Parade Confetti (1960's Akron, Ohio)
5 Color Postcard All-American Chevrolet Soap Box Derby Parade Confetti (1960's Akron, Ohio)
Boston, Mass. ColorPicture circa 1960's Fine
This card is fabulous! There's no date on it because it's unused, but I grew up in Akron, Ohio and I know I was at this parade when I was a kid because we never missed it. I know it's from the 60's too because that's when Chevrolet sponsored the Soap Box Derby and that was when the Derby was a REALLY BIG DEAL. The parade was heading up Main Street with the truck positioned between the two department stores, Polsky's and O'Neil's, which were right across the street from each other. I still remember the thrill of the flying confetti! Card will arrive in a plastic sleave

Handcolored Postcard Residence of Z. Davis North Market Street Canton, Ohio
7 Handcolored Postcard Residence of Z. Davis North Market Street Canton, Ohio
Brooklyn, New York The Albertype Co. Circa 1907 Very good
This is a very pretty card, completely hand colored showing the Victorian residence of one Z. Davis of North Market Street, Canton Ohio. The card was made by the Ambrotype Company, but it's a bit tricky to date it, as there is no postmark. I think the definitive clue is the divided back which was not allowed by the postal service until 1907. The card was never mailed, but reads To Nettie xxx, From Jack. Will arrive in a plastic sleeve. Many Canton,Ohio cards available.

John Brown Homestead, Akron, Ohio Postcard 1913
9 John Brown Homestead, Akron, Ohio Postcard 1913
1913 Very Good
Very pretty depiction of an Akron, Ohio landmark. The card is very nice in its plastic sleeve and retains a one cent stamp which covers the manufacturer's name. Only fault is a small bit of bleed-through from the postmark visible above the roof of the house - minor. The card was sent to Lodi, Ohio and the message (with errors) is as follows: "Am feeling fine. How is the weather their? I have my sweater coat on in the house. Bertha and Charlie went to Cleveland this morning. I will half to work Monday night. Sat. night was a busy one. Be home Sat. night some time. Arthur K."

10 Large Color Plastichrome Postcard of Goodyear Air Dock and Glossy Real Photo of the Goodyear Blimp
Cleveland and Boston Poscard Wilbur Evan oif Cleveland via Colorpicture Publishers of Boston Unknown Dates Near fine
Here's a pair of Goodyear blimp items from Akron, Ohio, neither of which is dated. The postcard has a divided back, has not been used, and measures an oversized 5-1/2"x9". It's also a Plastichrome which is desirable to some collectors. It pictures the Goodyear air dock, the world's largest buildign with no interior supports. The photograph is an 8"x10" real photo of the blimp itself stamped with a number on the back. Together they're pretty nice!

11 Lorain County Jail, Elyria, Ohio Postcard
U.S.A. S.H. Knox & Company 1911 Very good
Very nice card with one superficial crease at center that you can feel more than see. The image is bright and without fault. The postmark has faded, so not sure where it was sent from, but it was sent TO Mr. Ray C. Cook of E. 82nd Street Cleveland, Ohio. The message reads, "Aug. 27th, 1911. Dear Ray, Many thanks for getting that book. I left the money with Mama. I got your card from Cedar Point. Did you have a good time? Ethel." Will arrive in plastic sleeve

Port Columbus International Airport 75th Anniversary 1929-2004 (postcards)
12 Port Columbus International Airport 75th Anniversary 1929-2004 (postcards)
Columbus, Ohio Port Columbus 2004 75th Anniversary Card cover Fine cards in VG folder
I haven't been aware of this postcard set, but I knew a good thing when I found it! There are ten postcards printed with black and white photographs and a blue "frame" on each. The cards are a tad larger than usual, measuring 4-1/2" x 6". All are crisp and clean with no writing or postal stampings. Port Columbus opened on July 8, 1929 with Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone and Edsel Ford in the audience. The folders (there are two) are crisp and clean also, but there is a tiny tear to the right side of the main folder. I used a very tiny piece of archival tape on the reverse side and all is well. A very nice souvenir.

13 Postcard "The First Jury" Akron, Ohio Court House (1909)
Akron, Ohio Long & Taylor Comopany 1909 Good
Depicted in this photo is the second court house in Akron, Ohio. It was completed in 1908 and there on the steps are the first jury in the new building. The card is postmarked January 25, 1909 and was sent to Edna Stocksdale of Dundee, Ohio. The message appears to have been partially erased and is virtually unreadable. Card also shows some smudges at back, but the main problem is a horizontal crease to entire card. The good news is it's in no danger of snapping off and is not hugely noticeable. This is an uncoomin card and I have placed it in a plastic sleeve.

Postcard Central Engine House Canton, Ohio
15 Postcard Central Engine House Canton, Ohio
United States S.H. Knox & Co. Unknown (early 1900's) Very good
Very handsome scene of the Central Engine House located in Canton, Ohio. It should have delivered a date with the postmark, but the stamp is indecipherable. I think it's fair to presume that it dates from the early 1900's. The card was sent to Winona Knoll of Louisville, Ohio from her friend Sadie. The card is clean and nice with a small bit of wear to lower right hand corner (see photo) and two small shallow creases beneath the highest white cloud. You feel them more than see them. Card will arrive in a brand new sleeve.

Postcard Dining Hall at Cedar Point (Sandusky, Ohio)
16 Postcard Dining Hall at Cedar Point (Sandusky, Ohio)
Sandusky, Ohio Alexander Mfg. Co. Early 1900's Very good
Beautiful card in almost perfect condition. No wear and no use. The only fault is a haze of foxing to reverse side caused by having been laid into a postcard album made of high acid paper. Everyone is dressed up for a day at the amusement park -- even the restaurants, or dinigng rooms as they were called, exude a bit of elegance. Card will arrive in plastic sleeve.

Handsome chrome postcard showing off Euclid Avenue from the Square looking East in Cleveland, Ohio. Look on the side of the brown building to see The May Company. There's no date here but the unused stamp box required a one cent stamp and the men in the picture are wearing hats, as are the women. Euclid Ave. is pretty dressed up too -- in red, white and blue! The card has a divided back and has not been used. Onyy fault is a litle toning in spots.Card will arrive in a brand new plastic sleeve.

Postcard Evelyn Boat Russells Point, Ohio 1920
18 Postcard Evelyn Boat Russells Point, Ohio 1920
Unknown Unknown 1920 Good
Nice postcard of the popular Logan County tour boat, Evelyn, filled to the brim with sightseers. The card's photo shows an attractive greenish tint and is captioned at the bottom "Evelyn Boat, Russells Point, Ohio." The bottom margin shows evidence of writing in pencil which seems to have faded almost away. The reverse pencil is also fading, but I can make out this much: Dear Mother, I am having a grand time. We went fishing and I caught a little fish. I've been over to Russells Point four times alright. We are going over to Sandy Beach today in a boat. Your Son. " The name is faded. Card was sent to Springfield, Ohio. There is a small flat crease to upper right corner. Card will arrive in plastic sleeve.
