1964 Official Program 12th Annual Cumberland Sports Car Races
1 1964 Official Program 12th Annual Cumberland Sports Car Races
U.S.A. Steel Cities Region Sports Car Club of America Inc. 1964 soft cover Very good condition
Very nice program for the races held at the Cumberland Municipal Airport May, 15, 16, 17, 1964. The event included the national championship and regional races. Previous owner penciled in notes for some races which could be easily removed, but you may not want to, as it shows who won etc. Program measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 20 pages including a blank one for notes which is unused. Includes auto related advertising. Faults are these: a tear to bottom of spine which I repaired with non-browning archival tape on both sides and a small stain to one page.

51st Rose Bowl Game, Official Program, Michigan Vs. Oregon State (1965)
2 51st Rose Bowl Game, Official Program, Michigan Vs. Oregon State (1965)
Pasadena, California 1965 soft cover Very good
Great graphic on this vintage Rose Bowl parade program dated January 1, 1951. The University of Michigan Wolverines tussled with The Oregon Beavers that day and the Wolverines not only took the game handily with a score of 34 to 7, but Wolverine full-back Mel Anthony was named Rose Bowl player of the Game. The program is almost a magazine. It measures 8-1/2"x11" and has 98 pages, all tightly bound. there is one small tear to outer back edge, but I mended it with non-browning almost invisible archival tape. Fun gift for a Rose Bowl fan.

Arts & Decoration Combined with The Spur March, 1941 (Golf, Policed Dogs, Horses in the Carolinas)
3 Arts & Decoration Combined with The Spur March, 1941 (Golf, Policed Dogs, Horses in the Carolinas)
Stroudsbuerg, PA. Artspur Publications 1941 soft cover Very good condition
This is a marriage of two magazines -- Arts & Decoration and The Spur. The Spur was quite large (I have some issues listed here), but the combined magazine is slimmer and smaller at 10" x 12-1/2" with 50 pages. Subjects include the police dog, horses and equestrian sport in the Carolinas, golf in the Bahamas, valley ranching in Wyoming, American crafts, rugs and mirrored walls.

Baldwin Wallace Alumnus (July, August 1967)
4 Baldwin Wallace Alumnus (July, August 1967)
Berea, Ohio Baldwin Wallace College 1967 soft cover Good-plus
Oversized magazine with a wonderful cover graphic. It measures 10"x 13-1/4 and has 33 pages. The back shows a mailing label discreetly placed in the area designed for it and there is also a bit of edge wear to the spine area, none of which impinges of the integrity of the binding. If you graduated from BW in 1967 or were at the Alumni party the same year there's lots of memories in this one. There's also an article about BW's admired Conservatory and the cover and fold-out celebrate the art of Felix de Weldon, the artist pictured beneath the enormous horses on the cover. There's also BW sports in here and news from the classes from 1898 to 1967

6 Bob Feller: 20 Years with the Cleveland Indians (1956)
Cleveland, Ohio The Cleveland Baseball Company 1956 Card cover very Good condition
I sold the signed copy of this booklet a couple days ago, so now I'm replacing it with an unsigned one that's quite a bit easier on the wallet. It's very clean, tightly bound and without names or writing. Contents are pristine. I counted 32 pages filled with stats, and info about his game and his life -- even includes his wedding picture. 7 Canisius Versus Brown Official Football Program September 28, 1946
Providence, Rhode Island Brown University 1946 September 28, 1946 soft cover Good condition
Here we have a rather hard to find program for this 1946 football match between Brown (host) and Canisius College of Buffalo, New York. The program measures 7-1/2" x 10" with 24 pages, all printed in tones of brown and white. Great photo of the Captain of the Brown team, James Lalikos, standing on what appears to be a Bruins monument. Brown won the game at fourteen to six.

Collier's Magazine: The Nation's Weekly August 19, 1933 (George Creel, Railroad Troubles, Kathleen Norris, Babe Herman)
9 Collier's Magazine: The Nation's Weekly August 19, 1933 (George Creel, Railroad Troubles, Kathleen Norris, Babe Herman)
New York P.F. Collier & Son 1933 soft cover Robert O. Reid
Striking cover art by Robert O. Reid sets the scene for August, 1933. Reid's work was frequently on the cover -- and it's no wonder why. This magazine is handsomely illustrated throughout with a nice mix of articles and fiction. The fiction writers include George Agnew Chamberlain, Stephen Morehouse Avery, Ruth Chandler Moore, Roark Bradford, and Kathleen Norris. Two articles that stoood out was one by George Creel, who was an investigative journalist and politiican who served on the U.S. Committee of Public Information, which was actually a propaganda organization started by Woodrow Wilson. In his article he addresses the problems of the railroad industry in the 30's. The other article focuses on Babe Herman, the eccentric Chicago Cubs player. Magazine is oversized at 10-1/2"x13-1/3" and is quite nice with just a few tiny edge tears. Original mailing label at bottom front cover. The recipient was from Barberton, Ohio.

Color Postcard All-American Chevrolet Soap Box Derby Parade Confetti (1960's Akron, Ohio)
10 Color Postcard All-American Chevrolet Soap Box Derby Parade Confetti (1960's Akron, Ohio)
Boston, Mass. ColorPicture circa 1960's Fine
This card is fabulous! There's no date on it because it's unused, but I grew up in Akron, Ohio and I know I was at this parade when I was a kid because we never missed it. I know it's from the 60's too because that's when Chevrolet sponsored the Soap Box Derby and that was when the Derby was a REALLY BIG DEAL. The parade was heading up Main Street with the truck positioned between the two department stores, Polsky's and O'Neil's, which were right across the street from each other. I still remember the thrill of the flying confetti! Card will arrive in a plastic sleave

Fortune Magazine March, 1935 (Japanese Silk; 6 Day Bike Race Madison Square Garden)
11 Fortune Magazine March, 1935 (Japanese Silk; 6 Day Bike Race Madison Square Garden)
New York Time-Life 1935 Volume XI, No. 3 soft cover Good
There is a bit damage to this one, but I bought it anyway because the article about Japanese silk is fantastic! I'll get to that soon, but first you need to know that the upper corner of the last couple pages and the back cover corner were all creased up. I have been able to smooth it all out (see photos)-- we're talking just a couple pages at the back. One required archival tape before the corner fell off and one has a small loss of a corner. The cover just shows several creases at the corner. There's also a small bit of wear to both the top and bottom of the spine, but it doesn't impinge on the binding at all. Everything is tight. Now then, the best story in this issue is a TEN PAGE extravaganza about Japanese cloth. If you love textiles, or all things Japanese as I do, this one's a keeper! Other articles are about International Cement, Soviet Art, symphony finance, Social Security, the six day bike race at Madison Square Garden, and Duparquet, the company which provided quality cooking utensils and kitchen design. Magazine is huge at 11"x14", but still ships for $2.00 in the U.S. OVERSEAS ORDERS WELCOME, but due to size and weight the shipping will be higher. Contact me with destination and I will provide an actual cost. No obligation.

Game Face Cleveland Indian Scorebook Magazine Commemorative Issue 1993; Tribute to Cleveland Stadium Official Souvenir Print October 2, 1993 (Cleveland Indians Baseball)
12 Game Face Cleveland Indian Scorebook Magazine Commemorative Issue 1993; Tribute to Cleveland Stadium Official Souvenir Print October 2, 1993 (Cleveland Indians Baseball)
Cleveland, Ohio Cleveland Indians Baseball 1993 soft cover Very good
These items came together so I am leaving them together, as both are mementos of the last Cleveland Indians baseball season to be held at the old Cleveland Stadium. The magazine measures 8-1/2"x11" and still retains its unused scorecards for the final series at Cleveland Stadium. It's a glossy magazine with lots of photos and Cleveland baseball history. Magazine is clean and bright with just one tear to lower front corner which was repaired on reverse side with tape by former owner. The print measures 8"x11" also and shows likenesses of Andre Thornton, Mel Harder, Bob Feller and Lou Boudreau. The text reads "Tribute to Cleveland Stadium October 2, 1993." Nice package!

This booklet's very hard to find in its original 1917 printing, but I found one in very nice condition. It's clean and tightly bound with no names or writing and no tears or creases. The illustrations are bold and attractive and there is much description and info on operation, plus info on the Colt "positive-lock", loading, and dismounting and assembling revolver. Hints on Association Football John Player & Sons Cigarette Card Album (complete)1934
14 Hints on Association Football John Player & Sons Cigarette Card Album (complete)1934
Great Britain and Ireland John Player & Son 1934 soft cover Very Good
Here's a fun find -- a completed cigarette card album filled with pristine cigarette cards issued by John Player & Sons, a branch of the Imperial Tobacco Company of Great Britain and Ireland. Measures 5" tall by 7-1/2" wide. Covers show a few small light stains to back and some light spots to front, but are still quite pleasing with a brown and red drawing against cream colored cardstock at front. Pages show small tear at top to several, but are clean and completely filled in. Cards feature various instructional images to match explanatory material designed to help young players with their game. Nice piece of ephemera for the cigarette card collector. 18 pages with three cards per page except for last page which has two.

Homecoming Miami vs.Vanderbilt November 7,1952 Orange Bowl (football program)
15 Homecoming Miami vs.Vanderbilt November 7,1952 Orange Bowl (football program)
Miami, Florida University of Miami 1952 soft cover Very good
Colorful fun graphic on this Miami vs. Vanderbilt November 7, 1952 Orange Bowl game -- check out the droopy mustaches! Though Miami hosted and it was their Homecoming, it was Vanderbilt's game from the start. They brought it home with a win of 9-0. The program measures 8"x10-1/2" and has 52 pages with lots of photos of players and coaches from both teams, squad rosters for both, and lots of info, plus ads including full color national ones for Coke, Lucky Strike and Camel. Program is clean and tightly bound with a snip off upper front corner and a faint crease from having been folded down the middle as so many programs were. But I ironed it and put it in the book press so its much fainter now.

House Beautiful Magazine May, 1933
16 House Beautiful Magazine May, 1933
Concord, New Hampshire The Hosue Beauytiful Publishing Co. 1933 New England Edition soft cover Very good condition
Crisp and incredibly clean -- the pages of this magazine are like new. This isue shows a special New England segment which introduces the love of fishing, tennis, and Bennington College, plus a renovation from stable to house, and a Rockport, Mass. home renovation. There are also gardens, notes from the southwest, French cooking utensils, and bargello needlework. But the most eye-catching is the article "Design For Living: House Number Four of the Home and Industrial Arts Group at the Century of Progress, New York World's Fair, 1933." Magazine measures 10" x 13". Only fault is some small chips to outer side of lower front cover and a few areas on spine strip which needed repair. I used non-browning archival tape to secure it and it's almost invisble. See main picture. .

Ithaca Gun Catalog 1939 (Ithaca, Lefever and Western Arms Guns)
17 Ithaca Gun Catalog 1939 (Ithaca, Lefever and Western Arms Guns)
Ithaca, New York Ithaca Gun Company circa 1939-40 soft cover Good condition
This catalog will arrive with the two extra advertising pieces I found inside, both of which were produced by Ithaca in 1940. The only thing that bothers me a little is that the first page is numbered 3, but there is no evidence of any pages having been torn out. Page three was blank initially until a notice was pasted onto it with a list of new prices for June, 1940 (see photo). The booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and ends on page 22. The First extras is a three panel brochure advertising Ithaca, Lefever and Western Arms models -- all repeaters and new prices. The second item is a four page brochure of dealer price quotes (orange paper).

National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association South Eastern Rendezvous 1982 (with Medallion)
20 National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association South Eastern Rendezvous 1982 (with Medallion)
Friendship, Indiana N.M.L.R.A. 1982 Soft cover Good condition
Crisp and clean as new with the keepsake medallion in it's original bag stapled to front corner. NMLRA is still conducting target shooting competitions using single bullet muzzleloaders. The competition is about sport of course, but it's also an endeavor for competitors to arrive in historical garb. The program measures 5-1/2" x 8-3/4"and has 16 pages. The only defect is the fate of many programs of all kinds -- a vertical fold right now the center. It's unusual to find the token.
