This is such a pretty scene and the colors are so rich. The card has not been used and will arrive in a brand new plastic sleeve. There's a little toning on the back at the bottom edge with two tiny freckles of foxing. I think this card is part of a series, but I have never seen any others like it. Postcard Portuguese Couple in Unusual Cart
6 Postcard Portuguese Couple in Unusual Cart
Portugal Unknow Publisher Unknown Date Very good
This is an unusual card from Portugal. A wealthy couple sits comfortably in wicker seats in a cart that looks as though it glides on runners like a sleigh. But why? No snow! Also, where does the driver sit? And which man IS the driver? Perhaps they just walk alongside the cart -- it's guaranteed to be in the slow lane! Overall, the card is charming, perhaps because of its oddities. It has not been used and will arrive in a plastic sleeve.

Such a charming trio -- a pianist, a violinist, and perhaps a vocalist, all dressed beautifully. The card is clean and nice, but does show a 1" scratch with a small tributary at the top edge on into the pianist's hair. Card appears to have been postmarked in Germany and is not written in English. Card is lovely and will arrive in a brand new plastic sleeve.

Postcards: Monte Carlo, Le Casino; Monto Carlo Les Terrasses du Casino -- Unused Circa 1920's
12 Postcards: Monte Carlo, Le Casino; Monto Carlo Les Terrasses du Casino -- Unused Circa 1920's
Nice, France Photography Editeur d'Art Unknown Date. Circfa 1920's Very good Condition
A lovely pair of postcards show the Casino in Monaco from two views. The edifice straight on is so beautiful with the enormous trees standing tall. The second vision is one of people enjoying the view of the town below from the chairs by the lanterns, reading the newspaper, and walking along the wide avenue. Neither card has been used. Both cards are also clean and attractive with a perforated left edge on both cards. There is no date, unfortunately, but I think it's circa 1920's. I looked through a magnifying glass at the woman walking toward the camera. Her clothes are pure 20's.Card will arrive in brand new plastic sleeves.

R.M.L. Berengaria Postcard Cunard White Star Line (circa 1935)
13 R.M.L. Berengaria Postcard Cunard White Star Line (circa 1935)
Unknown 1935 Very good
A very handsome color view of Cunard White Star Line's steamer the R.L.M. Berengaria. This passenger liner was originally built for the Hamburg American Lines in 1912 and christened the S.S. Imperator. During WWI it saw a small bit of service as the U.S.S. Imperator where it was put to work transporting troops home from the European theatre. After the war it was given to Cunard as part of war reparations and from then on operated as the flagship Berengaria for the final ten years of its career. The card is very nice and clean. It's postmarked New York City and was sent to Mrs. O.I. Trump of Springfield, Ohio in 1935. The message reads "Dear Katie & Oliver, This trip has been most delightful. My only regret is that some others could not have enjoyed it with me. Maybe we can arrange it sometime. Am not saying it is my last trip. Have been with a woman from Baltimore who has been over every year since 1928. You and Oliver should have taken this trip instead of to Florida. It would have done you as much good and more restful. Not as much driving. (Name can't be read). Card will arrive in plastic sleeve.

Souvenir de Versailles et Trianons (early 20th century)
15 Souvenir de Versailles et Trianons (early 20th century)
Paris E. Papeghin No date Hard cover Very good
Beautiful! Hard covers beautifully gilded, protect fifteen lovely views which are folded like a concertina. There is one page at the back in both French and English which offers information about Versailles and the Trianons. The cards cover the castle at Versailles, the parc, the Great Trianon built in 1687 by Mansart to the order of Louis XIV for Madame de Maintenon; the Museum of Carriages; and the Little Trianon which was built at the end of the reign of Louis XV.The outer measurement of the souvenir is 6"x8". Faults are confined to a bit of edgewear and a stubborn soil spot at back despite my efforts.

Stanton, England 3 Postcards (The Cross and Church Entrance, Ye Olde Bakery, Street Scene)
16 Stanton, England 3 Postcards (The Cross and Church Entrance, Ye Olde Bakery, Street Scene)
England Very Good
What pretty postcards these are with zero publishing information. All three are beautifully rendered -- one showing a street lined with homes, the second the church and the cross at its entrance, and the third Ye Olde Bakery. None have been written on and none have been postally used. There is some incredible tiny printing on the back along the side of the rectangle that indicates the stamp, but even with my lighted magnifier no luck reading it. Nonetheless, they are a romantic and charming bit of England and each will arrive in its own plastic sleeve.

Two Sepia Postcards Castleton Speedwell Mine (1920 England))
17 Two Sepia Postcards Castleton Speedwell Mine (1920 England))
England F. Frith & co. Ltd. 1920 Very good
There's a ghostly quality to these two sepia postcards shot in the Speedwell Mine at Castleton (England), one at the Subterranean Canal and the other at "Halfway House." Both show people underground. Neither was used postally, but a cryptic remark on the back of each indicates that the cards were purchased as souvenirs -- "Visited 26th July 1920." Except for a few tiny spots of edge wear, these are quite clean and crisp. Each will arrive in its own plastic sleeve.

A Pocket History of Zermatt (Matterhorn Village Four Tipped-in Color Postcards), Lebner, Karl
18 Lebner, Karl A Pocket History of Zermatt (Matterhorn Village Four Tipped-in Color Postcards)
Unknown Meier Circa 1950's card cover Near fine
A very atrtractive history of a beloved Matterhorn village written by its postmaster who did a most credible job of it. Not only is it well written and interesting, but it's also enhanced by the insertion of four full color slightly over-sized postcards printed for the book by the company which produced it. All are reproductions of the paintings of Edo De Handel-Mazzetti, one of which shows the date 1909 by his printed signature. The booklet measures 6"x8-1/2" and has 32 pages. The postcards tipped-in measure 4"x5-3/4"
