I love gift books and this one is attractive, interesting, and in beautiful condition. Coffee lovers will enjoy the story of the rise of the English coffee shop, despite the protest of "several thousands of buxom good-women, languishing in extremity of want." In 1674 they printed a broadside that read "The Womens' Petition Against Coffee Representing to Publick Consideration the Grand Inconveniences accruing to their SEX from the exclusive use of that drying, enfeebling LIQUOR " The mens' response is included. The book measures 5-1/2" x 8" with 32 pages. Illustrated with color art throughout. Crisp and clean with a band of toning to endpapers front and back -- otherwise pristine.
