Holiday and Travel Magazine July, 1931 Volume XVII, No. 3

Gorgeous art on the cover, but not surprising because cover art was this travel magazine's strong point. NOTE -- the box with the date and price at the upper left corner is not a sticker -- it was printed right on the page. This is an over-sized magazine which measures 10"x12-1/2" and is printed on heavy, coated, high quality paper. Photographs are in black and white, likely because of the Depression, but there ARE a couple color ads -- one for trips to Bermuda and the other for Texaco Ethyl Gasoline. Topics cover Turkestan; migrating birds and banding birds; climbing the Canadian Rockies' America's oldest summer resort in the Berkshires beloved by Shakespearean actress Fanny Kemble; ships lost at sea; the island of Helgoland and its war with the sea; the city that was St. Petersburg; modern bridge building; unearthing the primitive apartment houses of Mesa Verde, the glory of Mount Baker National Forest; Yosemite; and holidays on Europe's midways. There's a LOT to read here!
