Four handsome, clean consecutive issues of Time magazine from wartime 1945 featuring cover portraits of Hollywood's Anita Colby ("The Face"; General Helmut Vandenberg of the Ninth Air Force; Harry Hopkins, close associate of President Roosevelt, but suspected of being a Soviet spy; and General Walter Krueger of the Sixth Army. Lots of war news here, plus photographs and maps, as expected, but also a look at the news in science, medicine, radio, theatre, sports, books, and religion. What's surprising is how many color ads these mags sport, especially during wartime. Just some of the companies who placed them are Grace Line ships, Cadillac, Oldsmobile,Coca-Cola, American Air Lines, Chesterfield cigarettes, Camel cigarettes, Chris-Craft, Johnnie Walker, Four Roses, Chevrolet and Cutler-Hammer. Great primary sources for history buffs.
