Book Condition: Very good

Nice copy, clean and tightly bound. Retains pledge sheet and envelope for remitting money to the Defense Committe. Small bit of staining around staples and light soil to back -- overall quite good with pristine pages. A 64 page report on the famous case involving Rev. John Howard Melish, who had been rector at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity in Brooklyn Heights, New York for 45 years before being ousted due to the leftist leanings of his son and associate rector, Rev. William Howard Melish. A major thrust of the defense was that the Church had insinuated itself into the relationship between the congregation and their clergy. There is no date on the booklet, but the hoopla occurred during the "red scare" and the height of McCarthyism. Booklet measures 6"x10" and has 64 pages.
