Fun advertising vehicle for a special train. It's a fold-out and each panel makes the entire train on one side while the reverse side of the panels are each devoted to an aspect of the cutting-edge design. Folded, this is a small item at 3-1/4"x5-1/2", but fully extended it's 32" long! The idea for the train emerged in 1944 as a promotional model, but ended up full-sized. Among the many unusual features are a chair car for 72 people with carpeted aisles, reclining chairs and individual lighting; a dining car which boasted an Astra Dome where 18 lucky passengers could enjoy all the amenities of a roof garden with great food and air conditioning; luxurious sleeping accommodations, panoramic views. and two cocktail lounges. What a trip!
