The graphic cover of this program catches the eye! Very handsome and in nice condition too. There's only a few small faults, being a tiny loss of paper to tail of spine. a small chip to top front corner next to spine and a minor bit of soiling to very edge at bottom of title and frontis pages. Measures 8"x10-1/2" and is illustrated throughout with photographs and maps. Much history, as well as the program of events and the script of the pageant staged in honor of the festivities. This is a cool thing, whether you are an alum yourself or are looking for an ancestor who was a member. Looks like this was quite a bash, as brothers descended on the Hotel Hollendan for a five day gala -- December 27th to the 31st. It's interesting to note that Zeta Beta Tau was the first Jewish fraternity in the U.S.. It's not sectarian anymore, but it still was at the time of this event. Oddly, here is no date on this pristine booklet, but opening remarks show that it coincided with the 200th anniversary of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence which places it in 1976. Laid-in is a brochure which is a second clue since it commemorates the 1976 designation of East Court Avenue, in Bellefontaine, Ohio as a National Historical Civil Engineering Landmark. How nice to find programs for both the 1942 Baccalaureate AND Commencement for the Class of 1942 at Ohio's Oberlin College. What's even nicer is the fact that this offering also includes the Commencement arrangements, plus a flyer for the Commencement Concert by the A Capella Choir and the Conservatory Orchestra. Oberlin was, and is, lauded for its fine conservatory. Wonderful souvenir of the encampment of the Grand Old Army in Cleveland in September, 1911. The program is clean and tightly bound, but does have some faults which include small tears to the yapped edges, a slight vertical crease to a few front pages and soil in a distinct grid pattern to back cover. This is not an oil-based stain, as it does not appear on the reverse side. A very big book for a very small town -- no page numbers, but it's 1/2" thick. Very nice and tightly bound with all faults external. The former owner stamped her name and address at upper corner of cover and there are some gray marks, both front and back, which looked like they should come right off the shiny surface with book cleaner, but did not. Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio does love a party, so every 25 years they throw one. This one from 1987 celebrates the town's Supersextus Sesquicentennial. Can't say I have ever run across a Suspersextus Sesquicetennial, but here it is. The book is hard cover with a dark blue pebbled cover decorated with gilt at face. Inside are numerous black and white photographs printed on quality coated paper and a full color section at the back showing residents having fun at the event. Here's another Cleveland item which I've never had before! Lately that's been happening quite a bit. Anyway, this one is very clean and nice with just a small bit of toning to edges. The cross on the front is a cut-out and the blue color is coming from the art inside. It's a painting and is tipped-in rather than having been printed on the page.
