I love Apeture magazine -- it's not only beautiful, but insightful in its choice of topics and of course the photography is stunning. This issue from summer 1993 is in excellent condition and has some extra ephemera pieces laid-in. There's a Fall 1993 catalog, plus a booklet titled Voyage of the Eye by Brett Watson which also contains the subscription blank with an envelope. Articles cover the comic art of Dario Fo; the paparazzi, recent (at the time of writing) new Italian photography, the Mafia, southern Italy, and more. All photographers are Italian. Magazine measures 9-1/2" x 11-1/2" with... View More...
There is no date on this one that I can see, but it appears to be contemporary -- likely early 2000's. The handmade lace is exquisite and the booklet shows it making itss way from the designer's pencil to the needles used by the women who create the gossamer fabric to the marketplace. the intricate lace turns into dresses, collars, tablecloths, runners, bridal veils, pillows, curtains, shawls and altar coverings. Every page is a discovery and many pop with colorful backgrounds. Text is in Italian, French, German, and English. Booklet measures 8"x 11-1/2" and is very clean and tightly bound. ... View More...
This folder contains 25 reproductions from the classical artists -- Boticelli, Lippe, Correggio, and more. All are in full color with documentation beneath. They measure 7"x10" and are prstine. The folder is very clean and sturdy, but there is a small rough mar on the right front cover of the folder. It's a circle which suggests it was once a price sticker. View More...
Not only is this beautiful, but it has overlays which add even more beauty to the pages. There are gorgeous full color photographs of both the exterior and interior. The text, which is substantial, tells the story of how the hotel became to be given the fact that it almost didn't happen because of the dicovery of a cloister. the project took longer than expected, but a good solution saved the day. The booklet measures 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" and has 40 exquisite pages. The only problem is minor edge wear and a small crease to the upper fornt corner. View More...
Very handsome Italian wood carvings of ecclesiastical furnishings for churches. The company manufactured and exported religious woodcarvings of statues, crucifixes and other such items. There is a letter from the company tucked inside the catalog along with the then current price list. The catalog measures 6-1/2 x 9-1/2" and has 36 pages. Very clean and tightly bound with just a stamp to front cover which notes the catalog's 1960 arrival. View More...
These artful luggage labels are a collectors' dream. I had about a hundred of them some years ago and a small amount are still kicking around. This is one of them. The hotel is handsome in itself, but the stylized sunset is beautiful. The label measures 3-1/4" high and 4-1/4" across. It has not been used on luggage or pasted in an album. Only defects are a small crease to upper right corner and a tiny snip off the point of the lower right corner. Label will arrive in a brand new plastic sleeve with cardboard backing. View More...
This is an unusual little Catholic missal which measures a charming 3" wide and 5" tall. I'm not sure whether the boards are celluloid, or actual wood which has been given a beveled edge and a plasticized finish. I'm leaning towards the latter, but can't prove it. The spine is a leather-like surface and outer page edges are inked in red as per design. The type is good sized and the text is in both Latin and Italian. The previous owner's name is written on the title page, but I can't decipher it, though I do know he was in Jordan, Jerusalem. The front cover of the book has a carved design and t... View More...

A very handsome card featuring the 8th battalion of Eritria located in the Horn of Africa. There is no date here, but is part of the Ethopian war. In 1936 Eritria, Italian Somalia and the newly conquered Ethiopia were merged under Italian rule and Eritrea became an industrial center. Card is very clean and bright and had not been used. It's slightly oversized at 4"x6-1/4". View More...
Very handsome slightly oversized postcard showing a Dubat fighter. The name Dubat means white turban and was used to identify troops from Italian Somaliland. There is no date, but the Dubats were hired in great numbers by the Italians during the Ethiopian War of the 30'. Card is unused and measures 4"x6". The little black spots you see on the front of the card are not a defect -- they're birds in flight! We have several other cards from the Ethiopian War too. View More...
This is such a pretty scene and the colors are so rich. The card has not been used and will arrive in a brand new plastic sleeve. There's a little toning on the back at the bottom edge with two tiny freckles of foxing. I think this card is part of a series, but I have never seen any others like it. The card tells the story of Leda and the swan. View More...

These are lovely postcards, part of a larger set. I once had a full set and as I recall it came in a wrapper. Here are two examples both of which are color saturated. Both are also unused, so no stamps and no messages. I especially like the fancy table set up on the side of the road. Small bit of wear to lower right corner on each. Both cards will arrive in brand new plastic sleeves. View More...

Very nice, clean, tightly bound trade catalog sent from Italy to a Cleveland, Ohio customer. The catalog is dated 1954 and is distinguished on the first page with an emblem announcing the firm's 100th anniversary, 1854-1954. The catalog also retains its separate price booklet as well as the letter mentioned above. The company shows pages and pages of sculptures, wood carvings, and religious articles. The catalog itself measures 6-1/2" x 9-1/2" and has 29 pages, all illustrated with black and white photographs. View More...
Beautiful watercolor print showing the crowd enjoying a sunny day in Venice, Italy. I purchased it from a longtime dealer who saved plates from damaged books. I had a hard time figuring out who the artist was though because he only printed the name on one print! But the style is so unique it was easy to see that the others were British artist, Frank Brangwyn's, work too. The print is tipped-in on the paper rather than being printed on it and measures in its entirety 9-1/2"x11-1/2". The image size is 6-3/4"x9". Plate is clean on both sides save one little spot on the back and ready to frame. Ve... View More...
