Mild toning to cover edge nearest spine, but otherwise a clean, tightly bound book which may be the work of the actor/writer with the same name. He was born in Cleveland in 1937 and the book was purchased in Cleveland from a small edition. If this is the actor -- and I do think it is -- he was 24 years old at the time. His first acting credit came in the late 60's and by 1970 he was on his way. The book was inexpensively published with a plastic comb binding measuring 6"x7-3/4" with 62 pages. The poetry is not bad at all given his youth and the book is SIGNED by author thus: "The greatest thi... View more info

This is my first encounter with this quarterly literary journal which calls itself a magazine and looks like a quality paperback book. I thought it WAS a book until I saw that there were two with different covers.(I bought them both.) The magazine measures 7" x 9" and has 219 pages. The star of this issue is the novelist Ann Beattie who appears in these pages with a story titled Moni Wayside Blue. If you're a Beattie fan this is a nice companion to a collection. Other offerings include fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Ship in the U.S. for $2 media mail. View more info

I LOVE this booklet which is the work of Cleveland Heights poets and photographers, hence the word poetography. They're very adept at combining photographs and poetry, but they are not alone. Poetography is a movement which melds words and images for a deeper experience. The booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" with 27 pages. Photos are in both color and black and white. View more info

Literary journals from colleges and universities are often interesting, especially when you find a name that belongs to a poet who went from student to revered. This issue has more than one famous poet. The first one I recognized was Charles Bukowski and then Harold Witt and Kirby Congdon. I have a hunch that there may be more. If I had time I would love googling them all. So in case a different name pops up to you I took a picture ofthe contents. The journal is top drawer and has art printed in black and white, but very attractive. The journal measures 7" x 10" and has 91 pages. This one is c... View more info

This is a lovely gift book comprised of beloved verse by some of the major poets of the day -- think Walt Whitman, Longfellow, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Eugene Field, Dante Rosetti, Elizabeth Barrett Browning and many more. Beside each poem is a small picture of its creator. The book measures 4-1/2" x 8" and has 186 pages due to long poems and such prose as The Gettysburg Address, the Declaration of Independence and more. The book itself is beautiful and tightly bound with no real defect of note and no names or writing. The dust jacket is usually missing, but this one is quite good with just a ... View more info

What a charming little book this is. A handsome gift book comprised of two journals kept by Dorothy Wordsworth who was the sister of the poet Wordsworth and his friend the poet Coleridge. The Alfoxden Journal was kept in 1798 while the Grasmere Journals spanned 1800-1803. Dorothy Wordsworth was a writer herself, so the journal is most pleasant to read. She speaks of everyday things and the beauty of the English countryside -- a very soothing book to pick up at the end of a stressful day. The charm of it also its size. Though not technically a miniature book, it still measures a diminutive 4"... View more info

What a lovely thing to discover the final book of T. S. Eliot's quartet of poetry chapbooks which was issued in 1942. It's a stated first edition, but you can also tell by the stitched binding. The second issue was stapled. Little Gidding had been delayed for over a year due to the air-raids on Great Britain during World War II and the poet's declining health. The title refers to a small Anglican community in Huntingdonshire, established by Nicholas Ferrar in the 17th century. Very different from Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats! This is a rather unique copy of a fairly common book, as it was owned by a doctor of note from The Cleveland Clinic who wrote by hand in it about death. The book itself is an early artist's book, a genre which is today a growing sector of the book market. Gwen Frostic, a Michigan artist, wrote poetry and paired it with art and beautiful artists' paper. On the back endpaper of this copy the doctor wrote out a poem by Mrs.Coolidge about the death of President Calvin Coolidge's son during his stint in the White House. On the back pastedown next to it the Cleveland doctor wrote about the death of ... View more info
