Surprising that this handsome card has no name of the new school, nor its date of construction. It does show in the white writing at the bottom of the image, but it also states it in the upper right corner of the back where the stamp would be. Because it was never used you can esily read "This is a Genuine Photo." The upper right front corner shows a very tiny crese to the point. The card otherwide is loely and will arrive in a plastic sleeve. View more info

This booklet is not often seen. It measures 5-3/4" x 8-3/4" and has 26 pages. The beauty of it is the blue illustrations throughout, all of which are large photos, 12 in all. The booklet shows creasing to lower corner of cover and for a few pages inside. There's also a small tear at the bottom of each page. The first page has a small square of paper over the tear, but it doesn't show on the back -- just archival tape. I think the previous owner tried glue first which may have required the patch. The rest of the pages have archival tape on both sides (see photo). There are great pictures of ... View more info

I bought these so long ago I can't remember where, but it must have been in the late 80's. Every once on a while they pop up, but I never get to them. But this time they're here. The children are Baby Boomers now. Altogether there are six pictures -- three of which measure 7" x 9". The larger ones measure 8" x 10". Sadly, there are virtually no names. There's one name only -- Mrs. Henry who taught 2nd grade in 1959-60. View more info

Not only is this one a stunner, it's also a chance to meet the Fakirs. I'be been selling art catalogs and books since 1997 and I have never heard of this. But in the era of 1891-1914 a madcap bunch of art students painted outrageous renditions of the paintings on view at the Society of American Artist. Some of them actually became important paintings in their own right. Two essays explain it all. Bruce Weber wrote "The Who, What, When, Where, and Why of the Fakirs" and Ronald Pisano followed pp with "The Art of the Fakirs." There's black and white photos included. This is the catalog of the ex... View more info

The book is very clean and nice and is in its original silver box. The box shows one small indentation on the front, but the silver outer paper still shines. The only other fault is a blank bookplate used I think to cover a name. Otherwise pristine. The book is based on Christianity and the focus is on living a good life. Very clean, attractive booklet with a spiral comb binding that is not cracked or broken. This issue was to inform prospective students of what to expect at Oberlin. Because it was war time though there's an article at the very front written by Oberlin president Ernest Hatch Wilkins entitled "Why Go to College in Time of War?" In it he points out the many things learned there which can be applicable to military service. In fact, the college added some courses just because of the war, including nursing and auto mechanics. Oberlin is and was a liberal arts college with a highly regarded conservat... View more info
