Price: $21.95

Publisher: Pittsburgh, PA, AZO/Arcade Studios: 1926-1940's

Seller ID: 0277

Condition: Fine

This is a fun real photo postcard showing a man pretending to be a train passenger and a young boy dressed up like a conductor to take his ticket. Maybe a grandfather and grandson on an afternoon in Pittsburgh having some fun. I wish we could date it exactly, but it was never sent and has no writing on it at all. The only clue is the markings on the stamp box which indicates by the four squares in the corners that it's from 1926 to the 1940's. Big span, but a great image! View more info

I haven't see one of these since I was a kid. My Irish grandparents used to buy them, but it was a very mysterious thing. Not only did the ticket itself look scary to me, but the whole thing was shrouded in mystery. Now I know why -- they were illegal in the U.S.!The Irish Sweepstake was not like today's lottery where numbers are drawn. Each ticket was assigned to a racehorse, so it was really a form of gambling. By the 60s the U.S. lightened up on it, but sales were already declining by then -- helped along by a report via Fortune magazine that the original motive to support Irish hospitals h... If you're a Cher fan and don't have one of these you might want to take a look -- it's a dazzler! There's almost no text, but the photographs are all in color, huge, and spectacular. The cherry on the cake is the entire ticket-- not just the stub. It's an adult ticket for Gund Arena, Cleveland, Ohio May 16, 2003 at 7:30 p.m.. and shows a price of $79.75. This is not a program -- it's a homage and an oversized one at 12" x 15-1/2". Pages are clean and tightly bound, but there is some edge wear at spots to both side of cover. Price has been lowered accord8ngly. View more info

There is a special charm to this booklet which focuses on the architecture and grounds of Biltmore. It's all about BIG, beautiful photographs with a text that's also big in print size. But the real surprise was the ticket laid-in which shows the house in full color. The booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 96 pages. The ticket is in excellent condition and the booklet is likewise nice, but does show a little light foxing on both sides of the cover, but none inside. The back cover also has a small ownership label in upper corner, but nothing has been written on it. View more info
