The box itself is so pretty -- opens at the side to reveal a soft cover book entitled Beautiful Children which fits perfectly inside and was printed especially for the purpose. The book contains lovely illustrations in both color and black and white which, along with the text, celebrate children everywhere. Oh, how I love old gift books, but when I get one in its original box I have to work to remain dignified! This one is beautiful and was clearly kept as a treasure. The theme of course is the poems of John Russell Lowell paired with that of violets. Together they are totally charming. I love Peter Pauper books. I once saw at a bookstore near Dayton,Ohio every book the company published, buyer takes all. I get one of them here, I get one there, but I'm happy when I get any.This one is odd insofar that it has no date and no publishing information. This inspirational book is lovely with its crisp golden binding, thanks to the box which kept it nice. The bottom portion of said box is very sturdy and clean.
