Yes, this is a hard cover book, but it's one of those things that tend to get tossed as soon as the new version shows up. Wadsworth was a small town in 1946 (smaller than now) so the book measures just 6-1/2" x 9-1//4" and has 290 pages. Wonderful for genealogy, but also a nice Ohio collectible. There's several sections -- a business directory and phone number service and a telephone directory for privte citizens.

I am fascinated by these sorts of little measuring devices -- can't let one pass me by. This one is not dated, but it's before zip codes which means it's from before 1963. It was made by Scully-Jones, designers and manufacturers of standard and special production tools, including tap and drill chucks, arbors, cutting tools, boring equipment, centers and more. Attention miniature book collectors! Though this isn't really a book it became one when Westclox turned their advertising message into a story. The odds of finding one of these are probably poor to none because it measures a tiny 2-1/4" x 3-1/4". Oddly there's no date, but given the picture of the stove -- yes, the little book is illustrated -- appears to be from the late 20's or the 30's. Westclox made alarm clocks in 1909, so they were nothing new. But you'd never know that by reading the little book about all the many things a Westclox alarm clock can help you with through the day. This is a small catalog with lots of eye appeal. It measures just 3-1/4" x 6" with 60 pages, all illustrated in full color. Aside from a small crease to upper back corner it's in excellent condition with no fault of note. All you had to do was buy cigarettes, hang on to the coupons, and trade them in for something in the catalog -- and what an array of items! There are of course smoking accessories, but there's also household items including furniture, games and books, umbrellas, luggage, baby items, fishing gear and clothes for men etc.

I've had one of these before, but not with the address of Khrushchov still laid-in. It's dated June 26,1959 and includes a portrait of the Russian leader. The booklet was printed to accompany the USSR exhibit. The cover is laminated as per design -- only fault is a wrinkle in the lamination on the front cover, a fault on the other one I had too. Booklet is otherwise very nice and clean. Measures 6-1/2" x 8-1/4" and has 16 pages. Color photo at back cover and inside back cover.

This is a most unusual find, a copy of the Goodall Library edition of Charles Dickens' first published work which made its debut (in hard cover) in the 1830's. This is the second Goodall (British company) unabridged printing of 250,000 soft cover copies in 1895. It sounds like a lot -- and it is -- but it's not easy to find a copy, as it was ephemeral by nature. Whoever owned this one valued it enough to have a special box made to protect it -- and protect it it did.
