Very handsome brochure produced during the Depresssion with a product that provided a new look to floors without the high costof wood, carpet, tile, or linoleum. Twelve paste-on color chips, all intact, offer a palette of colors from traditional to daring. Shows how floor can be taped off to get a checkerboard look. Your Doctor And You; Brief Dramatic Stories of the March of Medicine Parke Davis Advertising

By: N/A

Price: $25.00

Publisher: Detroit, Michigan, Parke Davis:

Seller ID: 0012

Condition: Very Good

An oversized bound collection of Parke Davis medical ads from the late 1920s. There is no date, but the title page says, "Recent advertisements in a series which has been appearing in national magazines since 1928." It measures 11-1/4"x14-3/4" and is very clean with no names or writing. The ads are pristine. The outer cover was designed with an overhang which, as usual, created small edge tears. Most are not a problem, but a few snaggy one were repaired on the reverse side by me with tiny pieces of archival tape. There are 15 ads in all, each with a message such as the danger of children playi... View more info

Lion Brand Milk Premium Catalog The Magic Door

Price: $18.00

Publisher: Brooklyn, New York, Nestle's Milk Products:

Seller ID: 0014

Condition: Good

Scarce premium booklet for Lion Brand Condensed and Evaporated Milks. There is curiously no date on this, but it appears to be from the 1920's. Research shows that the premium program was in effect as early as 1915 and was suspended in May of 1943 and all premium stores were closed due to war shortages. The book measures 4" across by 10" tall and has 26 pages of gifts to choose from including toys, household goods, jewelry, sports equipment etc. But the most interesting part is of interest to those who collect Girl Scout and Boys Scout ephemera. The book shows a page each for this with multipl... View more info

Good, clean brochure not often seen. Tightly bound AND SIGNED and Inscribed by company president, Thomas L. Fawick, next to his photo inside the front cover which reads as follows: "To my good friend Gregg Phillips with best wishes. Sincerely, Thos, L. Fawick Oct, 20, 1957." The brochure itself precedes this date, as there is much emphasis on the company's contribution to the war effort. Measures 8-3/4"x11-1/4". Illustrated with color art and black and white photographs and technical drawings. Unpaginated, but I counted 20 pages. View more info

This is an interesting piece of ephemera for children fro m Akron Saalfield Publishing. It's sort of a book, but more a booklet with a strange little spin. It's very nice and clean and measures 6"x11" with a bright attractive cover design. The only fault is one flat crease to the bottom back corner. It's amazing that this book survived in such great condition because it was designed as an activity book in which children were encouraged to clip pictures of products from ads in the newspaper and paste them at the appropriate places in the story. Fortunately, this copy survived unscathed! The "... View more info

Fabulous over-sized auction catalog filled with rare and beautiful items, all of which are pictured in full color. Measures 10-1/2"x12-1/2 and is clean and tightly bound with just a few spots of wear at spine, none of which compromises its integrity. The former owner's mailing label is on the reverse. This particular catalog is noteworthy due to the sale of Frank Lloyd Wright's personal car, a 1956 Aztec Red Mercedes Gull Wing designed especially for him after he redesigned a New York City car dealership which has since been demolished. The opening bid was to have been $300,000 and Jay Leno w... View more info

Publisher: Formfit: Uknowm 50s'-60's

Seller ID: 0118

Quirky, fun collectible and probably the oddest thing I ever bought. No date on this one, but clothing on drawings would indicate late 50's to early 60's. Bright pink sales brochure was issued to the would-be Formit lingerie salesperson, or as they say on the record, "corsetiere!" Inside it says, "Join Betsy White for a preview in sound of your Show Business Career." This is augmented by a drawing of the stylish Betsy White, a female salesperson holding up a girdle, and a funky picture of an early 20th century chorus line which doesn't seem to really have anything to do with anything. By: N/A

Price: $25.00

Publisher: Akron, Ohio, Billows Funeral Chapel: 1937

Seller ID: 0275

Condition: Very Good

A beautiful collection of floral prints with a folded flap explaining the story and meaning of each flower. All thirty are pristine and very beautiful, seemingly provided by a funeral home. I suspect that the set was made by another company and then purchased by the funeral home for distribtion as a subtle means to advertise their services. At any rate, it's a thing of beauty and the only one we've ever seen. The outer wrapper is a bit worn at the folds, but I ironed and repaired a few tears at the reverse side with archival tape and it once again looks presentable. The contents are pristine. Love the graphics on these three beautiful Mazda car brochures from 1992. Wish I had the matching one about the trucks, but never ran across it. So we have a trifecta here, all measuring 9"x11-1/4". The white one has fourteen pages, and the others ten and six with all having info on the back cover which is equivalent to an extra page each. The two silver ones are very similar as you no doubt guessed, but different enough if you were looking for one or the other. Nice set. View more info

Publisher: Cleveland, Ohio, The Chemical Rubber Company: circa 1934

Condition: Fine

Really nice advertising brochure with no date, so it required some sleuthing. What did the trick was the ad for a book, Adventures with A Microscope by Julian D. Corington. The book was published in 1934, so the brochure was likely issued in '34 or thereabouts. There is no mailing label on it and no fault of note. Closed it measures 7-1/2"x10-1/2", but folds out to a whopping 28" with scientific products pictured on both sides. View more info

These booklets turn up fairly regularly, but most are from the 40's and 50's -- this is an earlier one from 1938 and comes with a four page instructional brochure I've never seen before -- found it inside the main book and kept it there. The booklet measures 5"x7-3/4" and has 96 pages. It's illustrated throughout with black and white photographs, some of sided homes, but also some that are instructional. The brochure folds small, but opens to 9"x11-1/2" and provides complete instructions for over-walling -- that is, for putting the new roof atop the old, a practice that was considered optimum. The colorful cover of this attractive booklet is definitely an eye catcher and the condition is superb. At first glance it appears to be a travel guide, but is not. It's a sort of state of the union telling both residents and tourists all the many reasons to be glad they're there! Oddly, it has no date, but the last year quoted for research and statistics is 1936. Black and white photographs abound and are printed on coated paper. Covers all facets of county life. Measures 5-1/4"x7-1/2". An added bonus is a flyer tucked inside from a San Francisco restaurant called The Challenger offering an e... View more info

I am fascinated by these sorts of little measuring devices -- can't let one pass me by. This one is not dated, but it's before zip codes which means it's from before 1963. It was made by Scully-Jones, designers and manufacturers of standard and special production tools, including tap and drill chucks, arbors, cutting tools, boring equipment, centers and more. This device is two sided, so it performs two functions -- providing a Morse taper number and the size of the taper per foot and per inch which is helpful for drawing them.
