However, two disasters -- breaking away from her moorings and crashing into a wrecked ship and later a fire caused a delay of five years -- but when Liberte finally made her debut she wowed them! Guide shows art renderings of all the many amenities, plus inset photographs. The whole theme is one of a dreamy Valentine to the "good life." Measures 8-1/4"x10-... View more info

These diaries were printed weekly for tourists to find info on entertainment, both static and changing, yet for some reason they aren't often seen. This one covers events from Sunday, July 8 to Saturday, July 14, 1962. The ad on the cover of this one is for the famous Mirabelle Restaurant located in London's Mayfair area. The restaurant opened in 1936, but became the rage during the 50's and 60's. Someone covered the ad with an expansive signature, but I can only read the first name which is Mickey. The surname is a mystery. The booklet measures 4"x7" and has 64 pages, including some black an... View more info

I got all of these from an estate which dated back to WWI. Everything I bought was something that held meaning for the man who owned it. This trip to Florida appears to have been the vacation of a lifetime, as these are the only travel brochures he had. Normally I would list them individually, but decided to keep them intact for old time's sake. Only one brochure is dated, but it's easy to discern that they are all from the 60's due to the clothes and hairstyles and the phone numbers which have word prefixes. All are in color except the turnpike one and the Daytona Beach Shores. The latter has... View more info

Nice color postcard which shows the fabulous Pier Dance Hall located on the shores of Lake Erie. In its day Geneva-on-the-Lake was a popular resort, the first of its kind in Ohio. In this daytime exterior view it's hard to imagine that the Big Band Era waited in the wings, but in the 40's it came to The Pier. The card is very nicely kept and was postmarked -- the first three digits are visible (193), but the last digit is hiding under the stamp. It was sent to Springfield, Ohio with a message that reads thus,"The waters are wonderful here. You would like it fine. How's your vacation coming. S... View more info

Huge map measuring 18"x31" when completely unfolded, but folds down back down to a handy 5"x8". The map is quite nice on both sides, as one of the reverse section shows small photographs of Virginia's attractions. There are no tears or writing. The only fault is a few light spots of toning to cover. Overall, quite nice. View more info

It's bound with cording and has a glorious scene in full color on face with a full compliment drawing of Chief Red Cloud at the back cover. The book is clean and tightly bound, but does show some flat creasing and rubbing to card cover. Inside are a panorama of pages and scenes all devoted to the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Each is captioned and there is a statistical chart at front. Unpaginated, but I counted 36. View more info

Nice postcard of the popular Logan County tour boat, Evelyn, filled to the brim with sightseers. The card's photo shows an attractive greenish tint and is captioned at the bottom "Evelyn Boat, Russells Point, Ohio." The bottom margin shows evidence of writing in pencil which seems to have faded almost away. The reverse pencil is also fading, but I can make out this much: Dear Mother, I am having a grand time. We went fishing and I caught a little fish. I've been over to Russells Point four times alright. We are going over to Sandy Beach today in a boat. Your Son. " The name is faded. Card was... I love when I can find a portfolio of prints and ALL the prints are in it. This is the fruit of a lucky day because here we have a giant portfolio measuring 20" across x 16" tall and all six maps are accounted for. The maps are very clean with no tears and are beautiful with the lavish color of the periods. The portfolio itself had a few small tears, all of which I have repaired with almost invisible, non-browning archival tape at back. The maps are as follows: The Map of the World by N.J. Visscher who portrayed California as an island (17th c.); Map of Europe by Mercator from the famous Merca... View more info

Here we have two brochures from Finocchio's, a popular club which was located in San Francisco. The green and white brochure measures 6" x 7-1/4" and opens to three times that size showing individual performer pictures. It was designed to be mailed as a souvenir, but it was not. The smaller brochure measures 4" x 7-1/2" and opens to twice that. This one shows drink prices on the reverse side. Scotch was $1.15 and bourbon, gin, vodka,... View more info
