I love the way this guide mimics the skyscrapers which bracket the two tall buildings on the cover. The book itself is tall and narrow and measures 4" x 9" with 195 pages. In addition to all types of architecture there are six tours you can take in the city, plus one in nearby Kentucky, another at Mariemont and one featuring sculptures and other art. The guide is wonderful with many black and white photos. View More...
This is a marriage of two magazines -- Arts & Decoration and The Spur. The Spur was quite large (I have some issues listed here), but the combined magazine is slimmer and smaller at 10" x 12-1/2" with 50 pages. Subjects include the police dog, horses and equestrian sport in the Carolinas, golf in the Bahamas, valley ranching in Wyoming, American crafts, rugs and mirrored walls. View More...
This is more dream book than working catalog because it was printed while WWII raged on. The Crane Company knew there would be no building or remodeling until after Victory Day, but they also knew that people had stockpiled lots of war bonds for later. It was a good move because it sparked both creativity and interest while consumers waited. The booklet is filled with kitchens, baths, and heating and plumbing items. It measures 8-1/4" x 11" and has 21 colorful pages with only a few in black and white. Also laid-in is a booklet of the same size which shows many choices in various categories. E... View More...
This is an oversized booklet measuring 9" x 12" with 81 clean, tightly bound pages. The only faults are some toning to a few areas of the white back cover and former owner's name and address in upper front corner of first page. The booklet is lavishly illustrated with black and white photographs of the interiors and exteriors of some of the island's most stunning residences at the time of writing, many of which were already 300 years old! Very handsomely presented on quality coated paper. View More...

I love when a nice ephemera item is hiding extras on the same subject. I bought the main booklet and -- surprise! -- I got two extra small booklets about kitchens and entrances and a letter from the company. Home builders knew that after the war there would be many people, especially veterans, yearning for a home of their own. The building trade started early to feed the pent-up desire, but by the time this advertising came out the end of the war was only a year away -- 1945. The yellow pamphlets measures 3-1/2" x 6-1/4". The large booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 15 pages covering windo... View More...
I love the contemporary auction catalog, so beautiful compared to the ones of old with paper covers and no color pictures. The new ones are also oversized -- this one measures 8-1/4" x 10-1/2" and has gorgeous white coated paper and big color photos of the items. The auction offered European furniture, sculpture, ceramics, tapestries and carpets worth millions of dollars. The book is pristine inside and out and showcases 438 lots. View More...
This is a very attractive booklet which discusses color harmony interior design with a focus on the fine rugs made by M.J. Whitthall. The rugs are gorgeous and the booklet shows full color in all images from rugs to walls to furniture. It's not seen too often, so I was thrilled to get one. It measures 7" x 10" and has 23 counted pages ;pritned on high quality coated paper. If you collect interior design items this is a good one. View More...
This catalogue represented Sale Number 3866 which was devoted to fine Oriental rugs and carpets from the estates of Helen L. Wilson, Amelia M. Martin, and Anne S. Nealon. One rug unfurls in full color at the center of the catalog -- beautiful! These were really exceptional even in black and white, as many show figurals in the design and all are exquisitely complex. The auction was a one day only sale with two sessions in which 225 rugs were sold. Catalog measures 9" x 9-and is clean and tightly bound. No writing inside. View More...
This is an elegant catalog filled with ephemera laid-in. The company has produced high quality reproductions of early hardware beginning with the fist catalog in 1933. The brown cover is gilded with the company's name and the pages are snow white and printed on quality coated paper. Every page shows illustrations and encompasses a vast number of items. Items that Ball and Ball sell include furniture and cabinet hardware, 18th century lighting fixtures, fireplace equipment and accessories, with and 18th centuries' house hardware, Victorian hardware, cast iron, and more. At the front of the cata... View More...
Not only is this beautiful, but it has overlays which add even more beauty to the pages. There are gorgeous full color photographs of both the exterior and interior. The text, which is substantial, tells the story of how the hotel became to be given the fact that it almost didn't happen because of the dicovery of a cloister. the project took longer than expected, but a good solution saved the day. The booklet measures 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" and has 40 exquisite pages. The only problem is minor edge wear and a small crease to the upper fornt corner. View More...
This is a very interesting booklet advertising contemporary windows for architectural builds. Two pages have new information stapled over the material beneath it. The original was also red X'd, but you can still read that too (see photo). Actually it's a good thing because it shows company momentum.T he drawings are really attractive and all eight pages (not counting the x-d ones) are filled with it. The cover photo is the work done on the Firestone Research Laboratory in Akron, Ohio. Rather scarce. View More...
Very nice booklet oversized at 8"x10-1/2" Though clearly an advertising vehicle for the Copper and Brass Research Association, the contents are most impressive -- NOT a "fluff piece." It's illustrated throughout with both photographs and drawings with the emphasis on the use of brass and copper as an investment for the future -- copper roofs, copper leaders and gutters, brass plumbing, and copper, brass or bronze hardware. Booklet has 31 pages and is clean and tightly bound. The top front edge shows evidence of something stamped on it at one time, but is smudged. There is no date, and few clue... View More...
Crisp, as new booklet in its original envelope. The envelope still functions well which is why this piece is so pristine. Crisp, clean copy, as new. 28 glossy pages illustrated with small drawings and black and white instructional photos. Info covers all aspects of wood finishing including basic steps, staining, filling, various finish coats, liming and pickling, finishing a door, refinishing without removal of old finish, painting, and the care and cleaning of brushes. Includes color chart for product called S-W Beauty-Loc. Mailing envelope never addressed. Nice logo and design with company n... View More...
Gorgeous full color auction catalog printed on glossy paper. Like new with unused absentee bid form laid-in, plus a list of realized prices. Catalog contains photos of Tiffany windows and other antiques, but is primarily devoted to lamps. Very high quality. Measures 8-1/2"x 12-1/4" with 112 pages and 407 lots. View More...
This is an amazingly useful booklet as well as being a glimpse into home decorating early 60's style. There's lots of color art which shows different types of windows and how to dress them up. Also helps choose styles that are appropriate for the type of house. There's info on color and fabric as well as instructions in making your own curtains and draperies. Booklet measures 9"x12" and has 95 pages. View More...
If, like me, you are wowed by early interior design booklets this one MUST be seen! Not only does it ooze vintage charm, but it also manages to look surprisingly contemporary! Believe it or not, the styles are quite adaptable to todays rooms, especially if you like a more formal look. There are gorgeous color plates, plus delicate line drawings of pretty rooms with much solid information on each page. The booklet measures 6"x9" and has 20 pages. Lovely! View More...
Very handsome Italian wood carvings of ecclesiastical furnishings for churches. The company manufactured and exported religious woodcarvings of statues, crucifixes and other such items. There is a letter from the company tucked inside the catalog along with the then current price list. The catalog measures 6-1/2 x 9-1/2" and has 36 pages. Very clean and tightly bound with just a stamp to front cover which notes the catalog's 1960 arrival. View More...
Very nice, clean, tightly bound publication with a strong focus on the technology of the electric fountains. There are black and white full-page photographs of the various designs, but the best part is the technical drawings, many of which are fold-outs. The booklet measures 8-1.2" x 11". It's very clean and tightly bound with two small tears to side edge of front cover which I repaired on the back with small pieces of archival tape which doesn't brown. Booklet is not often seen.
