Publisher: Dayton, Ohio, E.F. MacDonald Company: 1962

This oversized catalogue is a monument to 60's clothing for men, women and children. It's clean as a whistle inside and out and measures 12" square. The photography is much more interesting than usual, as in addition to the regular shots of models, there are many large full color plates of vignettes where people are modeling the clothes against colorful backgrounds. Initially I thought this was a retail outlet, but it is not. E.F. MacDonald was an incentive company associated most commonly with Plaid Stamps. This catalog, however, makes no reference to stamps. Each item bears a number, but the... View more info

I love architecture and old homes, so this catalog was a must-have. It's an enormous book used in a retail setting to show the types of moldings, fireplaces, doors, doorways, stairways, and cabinetry available for a 40's home. Huge full-page illustrations, some in black and white and some in full color -- 100 pages in all. The book is spiral bound to lie flat, but a piece of the plastic comb in missing at the very bottom of the spine. Book measures 16"x19" and is clean and nice inside and out with just a small bit of corner wear. Would be very helpful to an architect or designer, but also t... View more info

The Neiman-Marcus Christmas catalog is legendary. It's to(rich)grown-ups what the Sears & Roebuck Christmas wish book was once to kids. This year's issue is especially interesting because it marks the 25th Anniversary of the infamous His & Hers gifts which began in 1960 with two Beechcraft planes -- one customized to her taste, one to his! The former owner laid-in an article from a 1985 USA Today which recounts every glittering gift year by year. 1985's was two heavyweight diamonds priced at a cool two mil! The catalog is in full color and measures 8-1/2"x12" with 109 pages. There's just a sma... View more info

This is the third one of these school catalogues I've had -- the 17th, the 13th, and now the THIRD. This one is bit slimmer than the later ones, but it's especially interesting to see the Female Seminary in its early days. The number of students are impressive -- five pages of girls' names. Most were Ohioans, but other places are recorded too -- Indianapolis; Erie PA; Davenport, Iowa; Springfield, Mass.; Rockford, Illinois; Macon, Georgia; Mackinac, Michigan, St. Paul, Minnesota; Buffalo, New York; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Grand Rapids, Michigan; New Haven CT.; St. Louis, MO., and Crawfordsville...
