I love Apeture magazine -- it's not only beautiful, but insightful in its choice of topics and of course the photography is stunning. This issue from summer 1993 is in excellent condition and has some extra ephemera pieces laid-in. There's a Fall 1993 catalog, plus a booklet titled Voyage of the Eye by Brett Watson which also contains the subscription blank with an envelope. Articles cover the comic art of Dario Fo; the paparazzi, recent (at the time of writing) new Italian photography, the Mafia, southern Italy, and more. All photographers are Italian. Beautiful cover by fashion photographer, Bruce Weber, sets the stage for one of the most luminous issues ever. They're all wonderful, but the Blumenfeld article by Richard Martin and illustrated by the subject, is pretty in pink in the 1940's and 50's and a very good read. Other articles are Fashion Art, Pink Thoughts, Erotic Allure, and A Conversation with Karl Lagerfeld. There are many photos by other photographers as well. this one is a bit scarce. View more info

I am delighted to have an early Aperture magazine. I think the oldest issue I had prior to this was in the 1970's. This one is from 1961. The front cover was made by Robert Brown with Ansel Adams on the back. The Idea of the Workshop in Photography includes Minor White,Ruth Bernhard, Ansel Adams, Nathan Lyons and Henry Homes Smith. The magazine measures 8" x 9-1/2, smaller than the magazine's format today. The book is cleana nd tightly bound with just a small bit oftonoing to edges of the covers. There is much to read and the black and white photos are beautiful. View more info
