Postcard Sincere Wishes Fountain, Flowers, Pretty Girl

By: N/A

Price: $14.00

Publisher: 1913

This card is so pretty and one I have never seen before. The dress is low-cut, but there is a demure quality to this pretty girl as she leans against the fountain and trails a branch in the water. The front says simply "Sincere Wishes." Very nice condition, perhaps because it never went through the mail. Will arrive in protective plastic sleeve. The divided back shows that it was given to Sophie on May 1 -- May Day! -- 1911 "with best wishes from your friend." One wonder... View more info

Pretty in pink and looking over a four-leaf clover -- perfect image for a Best Wishes card. There no date on this one, but I have many cards with the name Sophie Nundahl on them, so it's circa 1913. Divided back, but no message and postally unused. Looks like Sophie just penciled her own name in. View more info

What a beautiful card this is -- more greeting card than postcard, as there is a poem on the back and no stamp box. Beautiful die-cut edges give it a lacy look and the edges of the design, including the hearts, are embossed. There's no date and no evidence of origin, but it's a beauty and was clearly treasured. The poem reads "I send this word to you my love, It will always hold true, As long as you love me, my love, I surely will love you." Could be a Valentine, but cou... View more info

What a cutie for the Fourth of July, or even Memorial Day. It looks like the work of Ellen Clapsaddle and there are attribtions of this is in the marketplace, but I have gone over it thoroughly with a magnifying glass and cannot find a signature to confirm it. Nonethleess it's a sweet image with the banner reading the first few lines of "My Country 'Tis of Thee." Love the way the little patriot is standing on a pile of stars! Great graphic. The card has a divided back an... View more info

An explosion of flowers surround a bucolic scene of a cottage with a path leading to stepping stones on the water and a woman following them out to the reeds. This card gives very few clues as to where it's been as it was never mailed and has no writing. It's German and lightly embossed. Small spot of wear to upper right corner only fault. View more info

The perfect card for people who don't like to write messages! This one actually has one and it was mailed from Seville, Ohio to Bertha Randall of Medina, Ohio -- not too far! It reads with misspelling, "Are you coming with your Ma when she comes. Ma doesn't feal quite herself this morn. (last sentence unreadable)" The sender may be Nelle Horn, as this name is written in the upper left corner. Card is undated but clearly. given furnishings and clothing on the front, it da... Flowers, birds, a fan, and a pretty shade of blue make for a lovely vintage postcard. This one was sent to Sophie Nundahl of Rutland, North Dakota by Dora Walton and postmarked Orleans, South Dakota. Dora writes, "Dear Friend, Thank you for the postals. They certainly were some corkers all right. I am still working for Liendeen. We have had an awful wind storm today. This is the prettiest card I've seen using a line from F. Earl Christy's poem "The Lost Chord." Most of them are in black and white with a rather disheveled background, though more of the verse. This shows only the first line -- clearly it's part of a series -- which reads "Seated one day at the organ I was weary and ill at ease ..." The small center graphic is lovely and makes for an understated, elegant card. It has not been postally used and there is no writing. It's... View more info

A lazy river flowing through a leafy glen replete with two white swans and a lady in a canoe makes for a pastoral scene. This card is European in origin and shows no less than FOUR foreign stamps. Unfortunately, the postmark is blurred so I can't read the date, but I can see that the card was sent from Frankfurt. The writing too is very difficult to read even with magnificatrionTiny bit of corner wear, but otherwise lovely. View more info

This simple postcard is remarkably attractive likely because of the font used for the type plus the simplicity of the pastel garden. It's crisp as new and was never sent, though there is a message written at the back -- "To My Valentine With Love." The message on the front reads "While friends are afar, and the fact we're regretting, Sweet, sweet is the proof that we know no forgetting." View more info

At first glance this appears to be a bride, but it's more likely an unclothed woman wrapped in veiling and holding a spring of flowers to her head. She is, however, wearing earrings. The card shows a logo I've never seen before -- it's a large S in a circle with a smaller I in the top curve of the S and a P in the lower curve. It's also numbered 1404. The date, 1908, derives from the postcard. The card was used as you can see, and was sent to someone is Paris. View more info

Pretty postcard, a work of art likely by A. Astt who signed it in the lower right hand corner. Unfortunately, all efforts to research this artist failed. It looks to me as though the lady has a sunburn, but she is nonetheless fetching. The card is very clean with a touch of wear to bottom corners. It was postmarked in Ohio, but the stamp covers part of the date, so it derives from 1900-1909. It was sent to Austintown, Ohio. The message reads "Arrived home safely Sunday p... View more info
