Often the backs are very ornate, as photographers used the blank space to advertise. These, however, are fairly plain. Most derive from Louisville or Lexington Kentuck... View more info

There are designs for both men and women. The folder measures 6" x 11" and is right sized for the pages. There's also fun names for the duds --Villa d'Estate, After the Hare Before the Grouse, and The Archaeology of Laughing. This is a good one to hang on to. View more info

This is the last year of the Spur's tall format. In 1940 everything changed. Already this one from 1939 was down to a monthly, rather than a twice a month publication. but it still bills itself as "A Magazine of the Good Things in Life." There are some good things here too -- there's big articles about the Kentucky Derby, Lei Day in Hawaii, and the ever-growing sight of fishing ships in New Bedford. There's also society stories, a piece on Shirley Temple, dogs, fox hunti... View more info
