There is no date on this one that I can see, but it appears to be contemporary -- likely early 2000's. The handmade lace is exquisite and the booklet shows it making itss way from the designer's pencil to the needles used by the women who create the gossamer fabric to the marketplace. the intricate lace turns into dresses, collars, tablecloths, runners, bridal veils, pillows, curtains, shawls and altar coverings. Every page is a discovery and many pop with colorful backgrounds. Text is in Italian, French, German, and English. Booklet measures 8"x 11-1/2" and is very clean and tightly bound. ... View More...

These little German calendars are exquisitely rendered -- the art is so charming. It's in the GERMAN LANGUAGE, but is so pleasing to the eye that art trumps comprehensiion for non-German speakers. It's a small, very thin book which measures 5-1/2"x7-3/4" and is illustrated with tiny illustrations throughout. The pages aren;t numbered, but I counted 22. View More...
Very nice clean booklet, the title of which in English is "Lucien Aigner: Between two worlds witnessed by a master of the Photostory." The text is in French, English and German, but the focus here is decidedly images. The full page black and white photographs are all of people including Hailie Selassie 1935; Benito Mousolini, 1935; Maurice Chevalier, 1937; Albert Einstein, 1940; William Saroyan 1936; Norman Rockwell, 1964; Fiorello La Guardia, 1936 and more. 25 counted pages. This is a hefty, significant program -- more book than booklet! But the event was so enormous it's worthy of the paper used to print it. Saengerfest was a national song festival which consisted of five concerts held over three days to accommodate the HUGE crowds. Twenty-six trains were charted just to bring in the thousands of PARTICIPANTS. The Cleveland schools also contributed singers. The event was also a commemoration of the centenary of the death of Beethoven. The program measures 7-3/4" x 10-1/4" and is very tightly bound with complete spine strip. Onlt fault is light some soiling to co... View More...
Very clean and attractive booklet with no names or writing. The emphasis here is on large photogravures of the Royal Palace and its accoutrements. At first glance the captions appear to be in Swedish, but a closer look shows that they are is both Swedish and English. The booklet measures 5-3/4" x 8-3/4" and has 32 pages. Very nicely kept. There's also a leaflet laid-in which offers the history of the Royal Palace of Stockholm, the Hall of State and The Chapel. View More...

Very nice clean booklet in the German language about Japanese art. I ran the title through Google translation, but it came out The Seven Glucksgotters. The only way I would know what this booklet is about is the photos and drawings of various art items from Japan. The booklet measures 7-1/4" x 10-1/4" and has 41 pages, most of which are at the back of the booklet. It ships for $2 from the U.S.A.. Overseas countries welcome. I am happy to provide a shipping price. Just use the contact button and tell me your destination and I'll get back to you. View More...
The German title of this Japanese booklet translates to Hachiman Japan's God of War. In Japanese Buddhism Hachiman is the divinity of both archery and war and is protector of Japanese Buddhism. The booklet is written in its entirety in the GERMAN LANGUAGE. It measures 7" x 10-1/4" and has 29 dense pages. Booklet is clean and tightly bound with no names or writing. Faults are confined to a couple light marks to front cover and a tiny tear to top edge which I mended on reverse side with a small piece of archival tape (almost invisible) and a small flat crease to upper outer corner of back cover.... Red cloth portfolio shows a small bit of wear to crown and tail of spine and a few small light stains to face. Decorated beautifully at face with black and gilt design. Folder opens to reveal a title page laid-in loose as per design, plus 12 original floral chromos in full color --all matted and in lovely rich colors accompanied by verse in German. There is no date, but a gift inscription inside top flap is dated 1912. Paper covering cloth at right flap has been reglued. The portfolio measures 6-1/4" across and 7-1/4" tall when closed. Rather scarce little book for children written in French. The title translates to the History of the Dog Brisquet. The color illustration is wonderful, created by F. Rojankovsky. The booklet measures 5"x6" and has 18 counted pages. As you can see from the pictures, the paper has toned both inside and out. There is also an old bookseller inventory sticker on front cover and the number is handwritten again inside on the back of it. I don't dare try to remove it, for fear of damage. View More...
Rilke is one of my favorites, so I not only found a beautiful copy of this book which announced on the bottom of the title page that Rilke was the poet of the year. Rilke's Book of Hours falls into three parts: The Book of Monkish Life composed in 1899; The Book of Pilgrimage in 1901; and The Book of Poverty and Death in 1903. The poems are in both the GERMAN language on the left side of the page and English across from it. Here's a quick quote from one of my favorites, "You, neighbor God, if sometimes in the night I rouse you with loud knocking. I do so only because I seldom hear you breathe... View More...
I bought several of these German catalogs from the estate of a single owner who collected both U.S. and German medals and uniform accoutrements. This one covers helmets and other headgear from Germany. The text is in German and each item is provided with a drawing which helps greatly if you don't read the language. Once you see the item you're looking for it's easy to use an online translator for the details. The catalog measures a diminutive 4-1/4" x 5-3/4" with 304 pages including a few blank ones for notes which were never used. View More...
